They'll never see

Chains rattled as the seemingly teenaged girl walked through the abandoned floor. Her steps were heavy, echoing against the walls. Dark blue eyes looked disdainfully at the spider webs and snorted, shaking her head. Knotted locks of charcoal fell down to her shoulders, though they hung by the sides of her face since she was hunched over. Pale, slender hands were in the very depths of the pockets of her black pants, causing the sleeves of her red and black shirt to bunch up slightly.

Cordelia opened one of the doors along the way and climbed the stairs, reaching one of the towers at the top. The vampire gazed out the window, feeling the need at the moment to watch everything that was going on. A tower was the perfect place for observation. Yawning, the female sat down, a now bored expression on her face.

"And of course there's nothing going on..." she said a bit angrily, removing her hands from her pockets and rested her chin on her hands.

Akriloth was flying near the academy. He had used his powers to give himself draconic wings. He was doing barrel rolls and the like, red dragons were great at flying. Even birds were flabbergasted at this winged human's aerial expertise. His eyes caught something moving in a nearby tower. His human eyes couldn't figure out what it was,so he transformed them into dragon slits. Thanks to a dragon's heightened sense of sight,he clearly saw what it was. A devilish smirk came across his face as he swooped down and landed on the window in front of the girl. He looked into her eyes as his smirk grew, his eyes had reverted back to normal and he had made his wings disappear. He changed the inside of his nose to a dragon's,"My my what an odd looking hu-" he said before stopping himself as figured out what the scent was."Well I can't call you a human eh?" he said while chuckling. "I am Akriloth" he introduced to himself in a tone like a bloodthirsty beast as it told its prey what it was gonna do to ,while saying it in a suave tone. Akriloth loved toying with humans and heir kin, especially females. Akriloth encountered few of her kind, last one he met was Queen Safiria.

Something odd had caught the female's eye as she looked outside, though she decided to ignore it. Cordelia stretched and looked away from the window, looking around the room she had put herself in. Old stones, spider webs, nothing out of the ordinary. It was far too bland for her taste, but at least it was dark. Had it been any sort of light color she would have gotten herself out of there immediately.

Suddenly, a shadow was cast over the room. The vampire coolly turned her head and merely perked an eyebrow at the being that had perched himself upon the window. His eyes were looking into her own, but she wasn't frightened in the slightest. There were freakier things around this academy and island than a person with mutated eyes.

"Well I can't call you a human eh?"

"No, I suppose you can't," she replied sharply. "I'm a vampire, and I'm a far higher being than those mortals. Don't make that mistake again." There was a threatening tone to her voice and the woman finally stood up, making sure to keep her spine straight and shoulders high so she would be at her full height.

"I am Akriloth"

A snort came from the female. "I couldn't care less what you are called," she said. "And I wouldn't take that tone with me. Nothing you do is going to scare me." She rolled her eyes. What was it with males always needing to show off and act tough? "Anyway, I'm Cordelia." Dark blue eyes looked over the male a bit scornfully before returning to his eyes.

Akriloth breathed in deeply,he had forgotten what a vampire was like. Arrogant, selfish, and foolish,Queen Safiria at least showed some respect toward him. Akriloth hope down off the window and stared down at her. If he had transformed his insides, the beast would be spewing fire like a volcano. "You vampires aren't immortal, you are insects compared to us dragons!" he roared in anger. "Even a century after my death, the elemental realms still associate my name with power. You 'ought to do the same" he stated in a firm tone. He popped his neck and clenched his fists tightly, calming down at the moment was becoming extremely hard. "Cordelia.....Your race's first queen,Safiria, treated me with up most respect. You young ones should attempt to learn more about your people.". Akriloth never actually like calling vampire people, they were just blood thirsty beasts that thought just because they were stronger than a normal human that they were so high in the food chain. Only thing vampiric that a dragon feared was a vampiric dragon.

Cordelia smirked. She had angered him. It was a game for her; she took great, sadistic pleasure in tormenting others. She had no idea what the word respect meant, and if she had been a vampire ruler, she most certainly would have been a tyrant. Things were either her way or no way at all. She had been through so much that sharing was not in her vocabulary.

"You vampires aren't immortal, you are insects compared to us dragons!"

Cordelia didn't have to look up too much to keep eye level with him, considering she was only an inch or two shorter. "Well if you think I'm cocky, perhaps you need to get a reality check yourself," she said. "I wasn't alive in the dark ages, but from legends, dragons were killed just as easily as we vampires were by simple humans in metal outfits." Hell had no fury worse than the wrath of a woman scorned, especially if that woman was Cordelia Brooks, and that was certain. She was the kind of vampire who tried to kill elders, and had actually succeeded in injuring one that was millions of years older than her. Of course, someone came to end that fight, but... she would have kicked his behind if it had been allowed to continue.

"Even a century after my death, the elemental realms still associate my name with power. You 'ought to do the same"

"And why should I? I didn't know you then and I don't know you now. I don't have to respect you; it's not a law. Even if it was, get with the century and learn that there's a thing called 'free will'." She rolled her eyes, sighing. Older beings were so used to being in their time that they hadn't realized they were in a different one. Well, it looked like it was going to be her job to try and help him realize that.

"Cordelia.....Your race's first queen,Safiria, treated me with up most respect. You young ones should attempt to learn more about your people."

She shook her head, not going to give into him. "I'm not Safiria and I don't have to do anything she did. I'm not a queen, I'm not a leader. I don't try and help other people. I don't have to respect anyone who I don't like, and I don't like you. You don't seem to respect me, either, so maybe you should learn a little saying called 'treat others the way you wish to be treated'."

Akriloth scoffed,"Those legends are false! Very few times has an adult dragon ever been slayed, those 'dragonslayers' killed our young and would make their bones into armor and weapons and brag about the death of our children" . "We dragons see you and your human kin as we always have,we live for centuries time is irrelevant to us.Things do not change" he explained. It made sense, when you live as long as a dragon, the world changes so much its pointless to try and adapt. Many of the older wyrms see humanity as cavemen with sticks. However, celestials seem to love humans and give them special devices, that is about the only time a dragon will fear a human. "Safiria's power was more than any of your current vampires by ten fold." he said,"You should aim to be like her.". Akriloth once again began thinking of Safiria, beautiful, powerful, and very cunning. He growled once more,"You arrogant diseased beast,I never showed any form of disrespect until you showed it to me!" he yelled.

"Those legends are false! Very few times has an adult dragon ever been slayed, those 'dragonslayers' killed our young and would make their bones into armor and weapons and brag about the death of our children"

Cordelia shrugged. "I wasn't alive then, I won't speak of what I don't know. I do know, however, that it's quite possible your opinion is bias since you ARE a dragon." The vampire yawned, exposing her fangs. It wasn't intended or a threat but once she realized the elongated canines were visible she at least hoped it would make that guy back off a little bit. It was doubtful, though.

"We dragons see you and your human kin as we always have,we live for centuries time is irrelevant to us.Things do not change"

"We vampires can live just as long," she said. "I know vampires that were born in B.C times and are still going strong. As I've heard it said, time changes and we don't. That's the irony that finally kills us all." So she was quoting a book... didn't matter to her. It was mostly true, anyway. Staying the same for millions of years could truly make one go mad.

"You should aim to be like her."

Cordelia snarled, taking great offense to this. "I aim to be no one but myself," she hissed. "I tried for too long in my mortal life to be a person I wasn't, and I won't waste my immortality trying to do the same thing!"

"You arrogant diseased beast,I never showed any form of disrespect until you showed it to me!"

There was silence. It was true, and Cordelia wouldn't deny that. She averted her eyes for a moment before her strength rebuilt and she faced him again. "You mistook me for something I wasn't, which is something I don't admire," she said evenly. "Perhaps if you didn't get riled up so easily I would feel more inclined to be kinder to you. It's my NATURE to be sarcastic and rude."

Akriloth rolled his eyes,"Why would I lie?". He was a century old dragon,he had no use or reason to lie to a young vampire. "Constantly adapting to the passing times is useless and a waste of energy" he stated. At that very moment he realized that he would rather spend a day with Peirs than this woman. In Akriloth's mind,Peirs is the most aggravating and annoying being in existence, other than this girl. He was gl;ad when the silence filled the room, her shutting up made him so happy. "You dress like a human, you look like a human, you sound like a human,it was VERY hard to distinguish what you were" he retaliated. "And in us red dragons, having a bad temper id OUR nature!" he roared.

"Why would I lie?"

"I'm not saying you're lying," Cordelia corrected. "Just that you might be more inclined to take sides with dragons." For someone so old, he sure did mix up his vocabulary.

"Constantly adapting to the passing times is useless and a waste of energy"

The woman snorted. "Yeah, it's completely useless... useless until someone suspects you're not from this time..." Cordelia shook her head.

"You dress like a human, you look like a human, you sound like a human,it was VERY hard to distinguish what you were"

An eyebrow perked somewhat. "I'll take that as an apology," she said. Even if it wasn't, she didn't care. It would just anger him even more, probably. She had to say, she was a bit surprised he hadn't run away from her or seemed hurt by her so far. People who could at least stand her for a while usually came to gain her respect... eventually.

"And in us red dragons, having a bad temper id OUR nature!"

A solemn look came to her face. "But have you any other reason besides genetics?" she questioned quietly. He probably wouldn't.

Akriloth scoffed yet again,"Only talented dragon slayers were Galanoth and his order". Akriloth hated to admit that fact but it was true,Galanoth was a powerful warrior able to take on several dragons at a time. "You think I care if one of you stupid monkeys finally discover my race?" he said while rolling hios blood red eyes. This woman was just annoying now,she just kept probing and it was getting dreadfully tiresome. "Our tempers come from genetics and from where we were raised. The fire realm is a brutal place, wars are constantly being started,if your not he biggest and the strongest you will be killed. You must be rash and cruel, thus why we are this way" he retorted. A vampire would never understand the turmoil of an elemental creature.
