"It's not that I don't want the support of my community, I do. I just it's hard to be trusting when so many unjust things have taken place. I want to help steer us someplace better."

He would have gone on but the kiss caught him off guard. He took a breath and looked at her. There was something about that moment that made her seem even more beautiful. He moved in and kissed her on the lips, but pulled back quickly.

"Thank you. You're um... I'm glad I have you... yeah."

The kiss was brief, but for Ysolda it felt incredible. This was all that she wanted: the way he looked at her, the way he treated her. Like a princess, but without the condescension that so usually went along with it. She laced her fingers into his, sighing happily as she leaned her head on Frysta's shoulder.

"I am glad that I have you as well. I did not think anyone would ever find me desirable in the least." More honest about her feelings, but don't be aggressive about it. That was one of the lessons her betters, her older relatives had taught her since coming here. She smiled softly, exhaling sharply in lieu of a laugh. "I am not as 'chill' as Marric."

Frysta looked at Ysolda, then out at the ocean, and then back to her. She was sort of intense, and definitely a lot more rigid than people their age, but she was a good person. It was really all the traits he'd seen her show that drew him to her.

"But you're not Marric, you're Ysolda. And you're desirable because you're you. I think it's cool that you take pride in your upbringing. You're so dignified and firm. But you're also really kind..."

He gripped her hand as his voice trailed off. "I guess what I'm trying to say is don't sell yourself too short. There's more to you than what you see."
