Brynjar looked away briefly when Noel grinned at his words, feeling slightly flustered. Brynjar didn't say anything he didn't mean, and he didn't lie. Talking the truth never embarrassed Brynjar. But saying it to Noel was embarrassing.
"I said the truth, and the truth is you're a kind person. Unlike me you are worthy of praise."
Brynjar nodded and smileda small, gentle smile with genuine warmth. It was some of the warmth Noel had caused in Brynjar.

Brynjar actually chuckled at Noel's words and shook his head slightly, although he was still flustered Brymjar was growimg accustomed to the warm feeling inside of him.
"You wouldn't be able to give me food poisoning, do not fret."
Brynjar noted the slight blush on Noel's face, but just deemed that he wadn't the only one suffering from the heat.
"As for the restaurant, I don't know any yet. So I will trust your judgement."
Brynjar smiled slightly again, and his smile was yet again void of sadness for a moment.

Strangely happy when Brynjar reassured him that he didn't lie and was only telling him the truth, Noel just nodded and accepted his words at face value, not wanting to look any deeper or analyze them. He just really found that he liked the idea that Brynjar thought well of him.

"Well, I won't lie when I say that I am not a huge fan of fine dining," he admitted, which may have surprised anybody who saw Noel since he was always so well put together in tailored suits with crisp shirts, undervests and silk ties with shiny leather shoes. But the reality was that Noel liked dressing that way, and had dressed that way for almost two centuries. He was, in a way, a man of habit.

"Would you mind if we just went out, for let's say, a couple of beers and a steak or maybe some roast lamb at one of the pubs in town here," Noel suggested to Brynjar thinking that it'd be a relaxing environment where two men dining together wouldn't seem too out of place.

Brynjar had to admit he was slightly surprised, though it didn't show much on his face, by the fact that Noel wasn't a fan of fine dining, as his appearance suggested very much otherwise. But the more Brynjar thought about it more it made sense. Personality wise Noel did indeed seem more of a pub person. And Brynjar was grateful for that, as he himself enjoyed pubs more than restaurants as well. So Brynjar nodded. He was actually excited for this finner now, in his own low-key way.
"That souns good. But you can enjoy the steak, I'm afraid I'm a vegetarian."
Brynjar shrugged a bit, he had changed into a vegetarian diet soon after leaving the island when he had noticed eating meat made him sick. His therapist had concluded it was a subconscious reaction, his mind linking the meat to a traumatic experience. Brynjar didn't mind in the slightest, as he didn't particularly miss meat.
"But I might enjoy a beer. Those always taste better in good company."

"I did not know that you were a vegetarian..." Noel said quite surprised at this. He didn't know why, it shouldn't be a surprise really, maybe because Brynjar didn't look like what one considered to be a vegetarian.

"I don't have to have meat if it bothers you," he rushed to say, not wanting to offend Brynjar, "I actually don't need food, but I just enjoy the taste - especially sweet things, desserts especially..." he admitted with a smile, admitting to his one guilty passion - baking. Noel loved baking, especially Christmas baking with cinnamon, ginger or mint. All so very delightful.

"But a beer, I always enjoy a good pint of stout with a good friend, yes..." Noel nodded happily at the idea of sharing a pint or two with Brynjar.

"I know I probably don't look the part. I stopped eating meat soon after leaving the island."
Brynjar smiled slightly and decided not to mention the reason he stopped eating meat. He suspected Noel was not interested in hearing about his traumas.

Brynjar shook his head.
"It doesn't bother me in the slightest if you help yourself to meat. I would hate to deny you the pleasure."
Noel mentioned he liked sweets, and Brynjar smiled and nodded a bit, agreeing with him.
"I quite enjoy sweets as well. Nearly to an unhealthy extent."
Any dessert with chocolate on it was Brynjar's weakness, and his so called guilty pleasure was eating chocolate while reading a book that might or might not be romance.

"Then I will gladly share a pint or two with you."
Brynjar felt a strange wave of exhilaration at that statement, he was already looking forward to it. It confused Brynjar, he was usually the type that enjoyed a quiet evening at his own peace. But spending time with Noel was enjoyable.

Noel just grinned at Brynjar's comment about eating sweets, he loved it that he understood Noel's passion for baked goods and confectionary. "That's wonderful then, how about I text or message you tomorrow, say around noon, and let you know my schedule, I definitely know that I am free this weekend, I just have to make sure there are no special orders that came into the shop this afternoon," he explained, excited at the idea, and thinking he could quickly fix any toys tonight or before the weekend so he was free to meet up with Brynjar whenever he wanted.

Brynjar nodded, and leaned down to rummage around in his bag. He pulled out his business card, still brand new since he had only received a batch yesterday. It read his full name Brynjar Ydmyk and his title and the languages he taught at the academy. Brynjar handed the card to Noel, smiling slightly.
"I do not start teaching until the next week starts, so I have time every day this week. Please choose a date that suits you the best, I will be there."
Brynjar glanced at the clock and felt a bit panicky. He took the book from the table and stood up.
"I hate to leave like this, but I have a meeting with the landlord of my new apartment. I must excuse myself. I...I was happy to see you again, Noel. I hope we can...see again seen. I'll await your contact."
Brynjar bowed his head a bit and headed to the door, holding the book against his chest. He already knew what he would be thinking of when he read it this evening.
