The World Isn't Hot Enough

Carver had no reason to say much more at the moment. All he did was listen. She misunderstood what he met by them having met before. Not in this life, quite obviously, but before. Not everyone can remember such encounters but others can. Jon, however, was in the middle. He couldn't remember it but he had more than just a gut feeling that it had happened. In a way, this whole confrontation was something of a deja vu to him and he didn't mind it at all. Though her apologies made him think just a tad bit about her attitude now. It was almost backwards. She showed even the slightest bit of anger now and yet she apologizes for her forgetfulness. Even before she didn't act as such while she was more calm than she is now. She was more than just peaking Jon's curiosity now.

She went on about how people like him leave a bad taste in her mouth. It was ever so slightly ironic given the way she acts. Even if he uses his abilities for his own personal gain, doesn't she. Yes, these are two different situations but when its all said and done, she does the same thing in order to satisfy the thought that she needs to suppress those that she deems wrong. No matter how you put it, everyone on this island is the same. It took him a moment to think about what he would do if it was his property. Oddly enough, he came to the conclusion that he wouldn't even react to such a thing. If someone had been trying to burn down his building, then so be it, just so long as he can take part in such an activity.

"Walk away?" Carver said under his breath with a sarcastic tone laced with a bit of arrogance. He chuckled in amusement before she walked by him. That was enough talk for him. They had a great conversation that amused him dearly but he wont just sit back and take such disrespect from someone who he believes to be beneath him. His back now to her, Jon didn't have to worry too much of where she was. It was evident that his flames could reach her no matter where she wanted to scurry off to. "I've never walked away, and I don't plan on starting today. Thanks, but no thanks." He stated with an egotistical tone. He turned half way to his right while swinging his hand creating another wall of flames, only this time it would reach her and burn her right down the middle. Before reaching her, the firetruck had caught its fair share of heat, engulfing it. An explosion would soon go off, but how much time they had before its loud eruption could be heard was unknown. Jon became quickly aware of the fire extinguisher in her hand but didn't pay any mind to it since its no harm to someone who isn't directly made of fire.

"Then let's settle this." She never expected it to go any other way. No, that'd be far too convenient. Well no matter. Her new found senses picked up his movements, and that was enough for her to claim self-defense. He wanted a fight? He got it. The wall of fire did get to her, but she was unaffected. In fact, the flames seemed to simply pass through her.

She had gotten used to that aspect of her powers: intangibility, but she couldn't maintain it for long periods of time. But still, she was going to use it while she could. Aliasse spun around just as the flames passed her and tossed the fire extinguisher at her attacker using a single swift motion of her hand, while at the same time, she unholstered her sidearm with the other.

Time, for her, slowed down considerably, giving her free reign to pick her shots. Upon instinct, her gun initially raised to point between his eyes, but she forcefully lowered her aim to hit the fire extinguisher. Two rounds flew from the barrel of her pistol and sailed towards the tank of pressurized gas and powder. The fire extinguisher exploded like a smoke grenade, clouding their battlefield with plenty of chemical powder. Hopefully, that'd be enough to keep him from using his powers for a few seconds, but considering she didn't know how this particular individual create his flames, she wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't affected at all. She kept her intangibility on for the time being, at least until the dust clears.

A smile of demented pleasure sprung onto Jon's face as he let his fire reign through the area. He could feel it's heat as it moved. The warmth was something like love to him and he could never get tired of it. This was something that he enjoyed the most about his powers, not even the cold could get to him. His eyes shifted as the bright flames burned through what he thought was his opponent. he scanned the area briefly before he noticed that the women looked faded. Maybe it was just his eyes, but then again it might just be her since he isn't the only one on the island with something special about him. She wasn't affected by the fire in the least bit and this was almost depressing to Carver. He found himself just wanting to her burn but in the end, when it didn't happen as quickly as he had hoped, his smile lessened to something a little bigger than a smirk.

At this point, everything seemed to moving at such a fast pace that his smokey eyes couldn't keep up. What was she doing now? It was only in a moments time that he noticed the fire extinguisher moving towards him. As a reflex and a result of muscle memory, his fortified skin began to make itself present but before he even knew it, the can exploded. Not much happened except a smoke screen that served only to hold a few seconds of cover for the women now. Jon's hands covered his eyes as protection while his face made his curiosity known. His eyebrows stood high, his mouth low, and his nose scrunched. "Speed, huh? I wonder..." Carver asked himself within the confines of his own head. He had to retaliate quickly or else whatever speed she had would surely catch him in this smoke.

Skin now just a bit of strength shy of being armor, Jon erupted. A blue cloud of fire made an appearance from his very being and made the smoke from the extinguisher dissipate. His skin looked normal but it was stronger than the eye could see. Hopefully she didn't know this yet, maybe he could use it to his advantage. He began to run towards the faded image of the women he saw before with fire erupting from his very core. Before he could stop, however, the fire engine finally blew. Its explosion was close enough to them to make Carver slight a little to his right. Thankfully he wasn't knocked off balance due to the shock wave, his skin could be thanked for that much. Assuming the shock wave would even reach her, Carver figured he wouldn't miss. However, if the shock wave didn't reach her, he would miss just by the small hairs on her head. Thankfully touching him wouldn't be in her best interest, his fire isn't the most safe, especially while still erupting from him.

The former hunter thanked her instincts for keeping her intangibility up, otherwise she would have been shredded with shrapnel from that exploding truck, not to mention getting knocked down from the shockwave. Though the little water shower from that same explosion did remind her of something, and she wanted to try it out. Three years ago, she saw a fellow hunter fight with a teleporter. Cheeky one that guy was, keeping the hunter from reaching him by constantly teleporting him somewhere.

Aliasse looked at the fire department's tanker on the opposite end of the one that just exploded, and smirked. She held her hand out towards her opponent who was charging at her. She looked like some wannabe Jedi, and she knew she'd look stupid, but it was the only way she could focus teleporting something besides herself. The man would have disappeared from view, and if she did it right, he would find himself inside the tanker's water tank. It should be full, or at least she hoped it was. If she did it wrong, he would have been relocated somewhere else not less than fifteen feet from her.

She grunted in pain as she pressed her fingers against her left temple. As cool as the power was, it gave her quite the headache. Nothing unbearable, but enough to keep her from constantly using it.
