Adelyn Moonlight
Storm Clarisse Haywood

Storm had realized that it was a bit of a funny situation—a student leading a new teacher around the Starlight Academy campus—but Adelyn had insisted that she be the one to show Storm around. Well, Storm couldn’t help but humor her. Since she was going to be a teacher, Storm also thought it would be interesting to see the campus from a student’s point of view.

The smaller, bouncy little werewolf went darting ahead of Storm and turned a quick corner behind one of the school buildings. “This way!”

Storm grinned to herself as she followed, albeit at her own pace. She was still taking in the unique surroundings of the school. Starlight Academy, and really all of Manta Carlos, was absolutely nothing like that little town hidden away in the Appalachian mountains where she had spent the last 15 years of her life. Of course, if Manta Carlos was culture shock for her, she couldn’t imagine how it was for Adelyn! At least Storm had a few years to adjust to living among humans, while Adelyn nearly went straight from the forest to the school.

And yet, Adelyn showed no signs of anxiety or stress. She was so happy. Not just happy to see Storm, but happy to simply be in this place. It was a relief to Storm that she had made the right decision in encouraging Adelyn to come here.

Storm turned the corner, where she found Adelyn nearly bouncing as she waited. “Look look!” Adelyn exclaimed as she pointed ahead.

“I definitely wanted to make sure I show you this area! It’s where people run, and do sports, and just all physical activity stuff! I knew you’d really want to see this!”

Storm’s eyes widened as she scanned along the open fields, the stables, the jogging trails, and the fields designed for specific sports.

“Yes…yes indeed. I definitely wanted to see this,” Storm replied with a laugh. All the open space, and all the other students and staff exercising! Actively keeping themselves fit and healthy! Was this heaven? It made Storm want to go for a run right that second. But, Storm resisted and instead gave Adelyn a pat on the head.

“You really love this place, huh? I have a good feeling about it myself…” Storm said, as Adelyn nodded enthusiastically under her hand.

A really sad song was being played from not too far from the two werewolves. Although the performer, having some wolf in his blood as well, wouldn't know that they were werewolves exactly. However, he would play his harmonica nonetheless, hoping that someone might hear it, and be inspired by it, for that was his goal today, to inspire others. Taking a break from his song, though, he looked towards the two, who seemed to be nearby, not more than twenty feet away, actually. "Well, hello there. I don'a believe i'd've seen yer faces around here, now have I?" Most days he was able to control his accent, but amongst other wolves, he was comfortable enough to let it show through. "The name's Sean McCalister, if'n ye wouldn't mind tellin' me yours. Forgive me if that seemed a wee bit sudden, don'a really talk to others much, I don't."

Two pairs of wolf ears started twitching as both Storm and Adelyn overheard the harmonica music playing—a curious thing to hear out in the sports fields. Adelyn was the first one to spot the man when he spoke up and hurried over, while Storm followed at a slightly slower pace behind.

“Hi! I’m Adelyn!” The perky, smaller werewolf said before she pointed at Sean’s harmonica. “What’s that?”

Storm was still taking in the new scenery around her, but soon enough was behind Adelyn as she curiously stared at his harmonica.

“I’m Storm,” she said as she pat Adelyn on the head. “Soon to be a teacher here.”

Once she had gotten closer, Storm had caught Sean’s scent and looked upon him with curiosity and a small grin.

“You have some wolf blood in you, don’t you?”

Adelyn sniffed and then gasped.

“Yeah! You’re a wolf! We’re werewolves!” She let out a happy little squeak and clapped her hands together. “It’s Storm’s first day here, and we’ve already met another wolf! I’m so happy!”

"Well, this is a Harmonica, and I'm a college student here at the academy, soon to be in my third year of it."

It had been a while since he had seen anyone even remotely similar to himself.

"I'm not exactly a werewolf, just half. Though I must say, the two do seem similar, at least in terms of appearances. I mean, aside from the transformation part. I can't do that. Still, I do get a lot of energy sometimes, and I'm sorry, it's rude of me to make comparisons like that, it's just so rare that I find someone who's even remotely similar to meself."

He was kind of ashamed with himself, for being so rude with the two of them, though when he looked at storm, he began to turn a pinkish color, and his stomach got all knotted up.

"Um, Ms. Storm, was it? As an apology for my rudeness, would you perhaps be willing to join me for some food later?"

“Ohh, harmonica…” Adelyn said, her tail swishing side to side as she inspected the curious instrument. Soon her attention was back on Sean as he explained a little about himself.

“Well, even if you aren’t a full werewolf, you’re still a wolf! And I’m just happy to see anyone who is like a wolf here!” Adelyn replied, before tilting her head to look up at her companion. “Right, Storm?”

Storm, on the other hand, seemed a bit distracted and her gaze was a bit far off from the other two. But Adelyn snapped her out of it for a moment and she blinked.

“Ah, yes, of course…” Storm replied with a small smile, but when Storm looked back over at Sora, she noticed that way he was looking at her and that smile may have faltered in that brief moment. It gave her a knot in her stomach—but it was most definitely not the same kind of knot that Sean was experiencing. As habit often had her, Storm started to run her fingers along the gold ring that rested on her right ring finger.

“Ah…I’m sorry. But I’ll be in meetings pretty much for the rest of today,” Storm replied with an apologetic smile. “I’m sure adjusting to this new job and new life is going to take up a lot of my time for these first few weeks…”

It took a few seconds for Sean to notice the ring that Storm was wearing, and immediately regret asking her to lunch.

"Oh, terribly sorry again. I didn't notice. I just got caught up in the excitement of meeting other wolves. It's not that common of an occurrence after all."

It also was not often that Sean made a mistake like this.

"I'm a student, myself. I'm studying music and medicine. My songs tend to have a sort of healing effect. Only on wounds though."

He also didn't normally reveal his own abilities to others. However, this was something of a special circumstance for him.

“A-ah, it’s fine…!” Storm replied, quickly removing her hand from the ring on her finger as she realized her nervous tick was probably just making things more awkward. Adelyn just looked between the two, confused about what was going on. She was soon distracted, however, when Sean mentioned music.

“Your powers involve music?!” Adelyn squeaked and pressed her hands to her cheeks. “That’s sooooo cool! I love music!”

Storm grinned to herself a bit in response to Adelyn’s excitement, but she still seemed a bit distracted. She suddenly cleared her throat.

“I’m sorry to cut this short, but I think I need to get to Administration for my first meeting,” she said.

“Already?” Adelyn whirled around to her with a pout. “Do you want me to take you there?”

Storm shook her head. “No, it’s fine. I remember where it is. You have fun,” Storm patted Adelyn on the head.

“And it was nice to meet you, Sean,” Storm added with a polite bow of her head before turning to leave. Adelyn was still pouting as she watched Storm leave for the Administration building before turning back to Sean.

“I don’t think Storm’s feeling well because of the plane ride here. I didn’t feel real good when I first got here, either,” she said with a sheepish grin, still a bit unsure why things seemed to get a little awkward between the other two. “But I hope we can all hang out when she’s feeling better!”
