The Wind

"I guess..." he trailed off, completely knowing that the gusts that were attacking the towers were very real. Sighing, and in an attempt to control his desire to fly, his wings vanished on request. Even if he managed to jump out, he'd have a second thought, and then to land safely and try not to let the wind shoot a hole though his wing by trying to get back up.

'Maybe it's not that high. I mean, it doesn't feel very high.' Or was that confidence? Nah, he hadn't experienced confidence before, so how would he now? Being up so high gave him such strange feelings.

Axel ignores the boy's wings vanishing and sighs quietly, He must be afraid to fly or something..at least in this weather.. He shakes his head and extends his arm out the window. "Well kid..time for you to learn how to fly.." he says with a devilish smirk on his face.

He extends his hand toward the wall and a ball of fire appears. With a dark chuckle, he throws it against the wall of the tower and makes it catch. "Here are you options kid, conquer you fear or die in a blaze. It frankly doesn't matter to me because the flame won't harm me..take your time in choosing." The devilish smirk turns to a dark smile as he begins to laugh.

"What?"

It was as if an ice cold stake was driven into him. Watching with horror as the fire began to crawl towards him, he took several steps backwards. The flames glowed and heated most of the rocks around him, and he could hear the devil's revision of evile laughter, as he inched slowly out.

He had never been in a fire, never felt the heat up close (asides from the cooking oven), ad have never felt the thick smoke up close before.

Then, he was crouched upon the window, delusional and frightened, not even watching where he was going. The last thing he saw before he recieved an eye full of white was the deranged smile from the perpatrator.

Freefalling, it was nice. But if he couldn't see where he was going, he would never know when to open up his anxious wings. Taking a risk, his right wing flapped open, and then the opposite one, each catching up air far above the surface. At this rate, he thought, squinting through the white, he could reach the ground with wind battered wings. Strained and which he would probably never use for quite a while.

Then it got to him, and the two wings instantly retracted. He panicked. Usually he'd know what to do with them, but to conserve strength, he subconciously demanded that he would just adhere to the law of gravity and crash. Which was very stupid but what could you get from an afraid person with strange thoughts. Just twenty feet or so up from the ground (he couldn't tell as everything looked the same), they both bursted open, and glided towards the ground.

And he landed in a position to crumple his already tired wings. Sitting upright and trying to ignore the searing, pounding pain of strained tendons in his wings was hard. The two wings disappeared under him, leaving small dirty feathers behind. All he thought as he stared back up in the tower from where he had fallen was, 'I think I broke something.'

Suddenly a long snake of flames appears, flying out of the window of the tower. It winds its way down to the ground and disappears, revealing Axel standing where the flames were seconds before. The fire within the tower also seemed to disappear, leaving it looking as if nothing had happened.

Axel looks down at the kid smirking, "Congratulations, you jumped out of a window and used your wings to allow you to survive. They're weak because you do nothing with them, so the only way to make them better would be to put forth the effort to train them." Axel extends a hand to help him up.

Taking it, he wobbled unsteadily to his feet, and shook the dizzyness out of his head. Rather exhausted, he tried to act as if he didn't just fall out of the highest place in the Academy.

'Was that just sarcasm?'

He shrugged, "Yeah, I didn't use it too much. No one told me to, really, not before you did." Brushing the dirt off his black clothes, he looked around. The snow fall was much more peaceful here, and there was only a little breeze. It was hard to imagine that up there it would be near a blizzard's level. 'At least, I didn't break my wings. At least, I don't think so.'

Axel turns his head back at the tower and sighs, the snow continuing to melt around him. The ground below was reduced to a small puddle of soggy grass. With a shake of his head, he looks Haku, "If you want to be able to truly fly around, you need to practice flying more, otherwise you'll have weak wings and no use for them." he says, his voice betraying the fact that he really couldn't care less.

"I guess," he replied softly, retaining the quietness on the issue. "If I had the opportunity, well... I can start. Soon, at least."

He watched the snow melt slowly, as if the person had a heat radiating aura. He could only do so much with his weak wings, as he never used them to a great degree yet. And he was planning to use it more here in Starlight Academy, since he was rudely awakened after a long drop from the tower. At least now, he didn't really fear the skies, nor heights since he knew that he liked freefalling anyway.

He took several steps back towards the academy doors. Remembering his manners, Haku acknowledged, "Thank you, for helping me fall out of the tower."

Axel chuckles at his comment, "Trust me...that brought me more amusement than you'd ever know.." he says, turning and walking back towards the tower. He opens the entrance door and and walks in, That kid thought I was helping him, heh heh heh, it was more my intent to scare him enough to crap himself..but whatever works..
