Private Finished The Weak Young One

Altizica smiled at Smokey. He appreciated that they were trying to cheer him up. Every minute the Devourer closes in but this was a nice little way to keep his mind off of it. “Aw you know how to make me happy. Thanks Smokey Id be glad to help!”

Altizica grabbed one of the books and inspected it, briefly opening it and skimming its contents. He could easily tell that it was written by non-Eldritch, the wording and structure gave it away. “Interesting to focus on those three. Any paritcular reason or was it just what sounded interesting?” Altizica smirked and set down the book. “Before we start I must ask you, do you know where Eldritch power comes from?”

Altizica happily smiled and nodded at Smokey. “Yes yes very good. Eldritch throw away what you call ‘natural law’ and do as they please. For this law of yours are a merely a set of rules, and all rules have exceptions.” Altizica chuckled and little and began to quote something he heard a long long time ago. “Before your light, before anything, there was nothing. Inside of this nothing dwelled the Eldritch. We marked the end of the beginning, and we will mark the beginning of the end.” Altizica smiled a little, he couldn’t remember where he heard that but it was always something he occasionally remembered. “As we are before your reality, your rules do not apply to us. Now enough of that, while all Eldritch are different there are a few sources of power we all share. Can you guess what they are?”

Altizica simply smiled and listened to Smokey’s guesses at sources of power for Eldritch. “Well concepts aren’t nessacarily a source of power, more properly shows the important traits that the Eldritch revolves around. Meanwhile the Void is certainly a font of power for Eldritch, but I beleive most places of origin have power. There are two other sources, one only applies to true Eldritch, and the other only applies to those who take Eldritch power.” Altizica laughed a little, things were likely more complex that Smokey originally believed. “Much like gods, an Eldritch can gain power from faith. As you may guess our faithful followers are more cult-like in nature as they devote much of their resources on our rituals and the like. For those that take power, like you, one of your sources is madness. While you can certainly gain more power, more often than not it takes a toll on the mind. Even now I wouldn’t be surprised if you suffered from it slightly. Heh....but the upside of insanity is one doesn’t have to suffer through it all. May the gods pity the man who in his callousness , can remain sane till the hideous end.” Altizica said, quoting a line from Lovecraft at the end of his rant. He had a weird, twisted smile on his face as he said the last line, nothing about it was natural.

Altizica remained quiet for a moment. He wanted to tell Smokey that even gods could descend into madness but he didn’t want to upset her. But he could at least explain why madness was a source of power. “Only a broken mind can completely understand Eldritch. If you can completely understand then you can also achieve some of the greatest powers a non-Eldritch can have. But you know the draw backs of it.” The quote was something special, to Altizica it made perfect sense but to others it could be rather confusing even if properly explained. “Insanity is an out, an emergency escape. When the world is too much, madness will shelter you from it. You won’t feel the pain and suffering you once did, but you will never be yourself again.”
