With a rather strange pin held firmly in his grasp, Alby was making his way to town. The pin itself was pretty interesting, at least by Alby's standards. It was a pentagon with five stars in a semi circle, a symbol he didn't really recognize from anywhere. It didn't really matter that he couldn't recognize it though, seeing as how he already knew the owner. A slightly crazy man who really didn't like answering questions. One who also happened to be a well known author living in a large easy to find manor.

After getting into some trouble with the man, Alby found his pin lying on the ground but couldn't return it to him since he'd been dragged off of campus. He didn't try to go find him that night either as they weren't on good terms and Alby was under the impression he must've been drunk. So now that a few days had passed and he'd discovered the whereabouts of the man, he was off to go return it. It was perhaps a little reckless to do so in such an upfront manner after everything that had happened, but Alby couldn't help it. He'd heard a few rumors about the manor this guy lived at and had to go see for himself.

When he got close, he could tell where it was right away. The building stood out pretty well. Alby stopped in his tracks and stared at it for a few moments before continuing his journey. He probably should've been nervous right about now, but he was mostly just feeling excited.

When he got to the front, he came across a gate and some guards, but not just any sort of security team, these ones were special. Large purple demon looking folks with blades coming out of their arms. This, paired with the aesthetic of the manor caused Alby to get pretty excited. This was the type of stuff he didn't get to see enough of on the island. He looked around at the unusual green flames decorating the points along the walls and then at the twisting gates before turning his head to the guards and calling out to them. "Hello!?"

The large demonic guards had indeed noticed the approaching human. He did not appear to be armed, though that was less reliable of a thing given the powers available on the island, and he did not seem to be outright attacking.

There was a groaning sound, not unlike metal flexing under the pressure of a great weight and one of the guardians stepped forward and looked down at Alby. In a rough and loud, but understandable voice it asked, "Who are you and what is it you want here? We do not expect a human child today." They seemed thoroughly unimpressed with the young Alby, but then clearly their job was to be intimidating.

Just then there was a faint beep from behind them and a voice rang out from a small panel on the column adjacent to the gate. Or at least It could be presumed it was a voice, and a language. Though it was best described as sharp, discordant and almost painful to hear. A dark language- a version of the demonic tongue.

The second Guardian seemed to slump slightly and then reached over to pull the first one back towards the gate. "You will wait here. Someone is coming to meet you." The guardians clearly spoke english to Alby, but only begrudgingly.

Alby was left to wait there for several minutes before a new figure approached from within the gates. A pale-skinned woman with cyan colored eyes and hair, two large black horns and large black wings folded behind her. She was wearing what appeared to be a fairly nice pantsuit except that it had been altered to leave her midriff exposed. Rather than being some part of a salacious dress code or something along those lines, the actual reason for the uniquea attire was fairly evident. Her midsection had a huge mouth with long and sharp teeth and a similarly cyan colored, glowing faintly, tongue.

"Hello, I'm Adonia- Master Morey's assistant. Can we help you with something?"

Alby watched one of the guards step forward, eyes wide and marveling at the sheer intimidation factor that just one of these guys could give off. The intended effect of the intimidation was essentially lost on Alby though. The boy would consider it cool rather than feel terrified like he probably should have. It took some effort on his part not to make a stupid excited grin at all of this, trying to stay calm as the demon questioned his business there. However, before Alby could begin giving an answer, a beep would interrupt him. Following this was what seemed to be someone speaking in another language, one that Alby couldn't understand and felt sort of uncomfortable listening to.

He continued to stay silent after this as another guard made his way up to him and told him to wait where he was. It sounded like they were annoyed with him somehow, but Alby figured it was just the tone they used as guardians of the manor.

Just as he was asked to, Alby waited, standing still outside the gate. During the several minutes that he waited, he entertained himself by admiring the gate itself, all the details working together in unison. After what felt like a short amount of time, Alby would hear steps again and then turn to see a figure come into view.

His eyes would widen at the sight of this woman, quickly taking note of the large mouth on her midriff. Once again, he probably should've instinctively been afraid but felt fascinated more than anything.

Before simply stating he was there to return something, Alby had taken the time to decide how he was going to say it. His main goal was to return the pin, however he also wanted to get a look inside the manor. If he just said he had something to return, they'd probably take it from him here and send him on his way. "Hi, my name is Alby. I'm here because you're master got angry and shook me up a bunch the other day. I was just hoping to have a word with him if that's at all possible?" Alby spoke in a calm tone that lacked any aggression. His hopes were that they'd take him to the master so that he could apologize formally, but he really couldn't have cared less about being apologized to, he just wanted inside the building.

The guardians backed out of the way, acknowledging the female demon's command to let her handle this situation. She remained on the inside of the gate for the moment, speaking to Alby through twisted iron and silver bars.

Her eyes narrowed at his statements, searching his face for signs of deceit but finding none. "Those are serious accusations. But Master Morey does have a limited amount of time available at the moment. Follow me. Touch nothing, do not wander unaccompanied and I will destroy any recording devices you attempt to use." She was most displeased with what Alby was saying and she had no reason to hide the coldness in her voice. But she was required to be polite enough and motioned for the gate to be opened.

Adonia didn't seem overly keen to idle conversation with Alby as they walked but she did lead him up the drive to the main entrance of the massive manor. Where gargoyles might have been engraved in the stonework were instead depictions of demons, some of which seemed to have glittering eyes of red and yellow and orange. There was the distinct feeling of being watched.

Behind the heavy wood and stone doors was an interior fit for medieval nobles, but everything was designed to be more dark than light. No brilliant white marble or bright golden inlay. Rich, dark woods and ornate stonework framed the rooms. Many alcoves and walls were adorned with wonderful artwork and even portraits of former residents. Some human but most demonic in nature. One particularly noteworthy piece of art seemed to be a sculpture of an old twisted oak tree, bent and sagging with age. It was jet black, literally since it was indeed carved from the stone, and a small set of stanchions were arrayed to keep the curious from approaching too closely. It reeked of despair and loneliness. But also a macabre sense of beauty. A small placard named it as "Dead Man's Folly."

But the assistant guided Alby up the broad and winding stairs and through several doors until they reached an ornately carved blackened wood door with a glossy handle. "Master Morey, the young Mr.... Alby to see you regarding the incident at the school," she called out after knocking and peeking her head inside.

A smoother, more refined voice replied, in English. "Let him come in. I very much would like to discuss things with him." The assistant nodded and stepped aside, granting Alby entrance into the large private library. Adorned with hundreds or even thousands of old books. And new ones too, with Colten's own works in a place of honor beneath the glass of a display case.

At the two simple words, follow me, Alby nearly squealed. It took everything he had to stay calm and collected after finding out he'd succeeded. Staying calm was made easier thanks to the cold serious tone used by Adonia. He was going to make sure his phone never left his pocket during this and he'd keep his curiosity in check so as to not wander off. He got the feeling that upsetting these guys probably wouldn't end well.

He watched as the gate opened at the command of Adonia then trailed behind her as she lead him to the front entrance. He paused to look at the demons engraved in the walls. Staring deeply into the red eyes of one and picking up the ominous feeling that it was looking back. He shook his head and broke from the gaze shortly after having realized he was falling behind the lady. With a few quick steps he managed to catch back up.

What awaited inside was even more of a sight to behold. Up until now, most of the buildings he'd seen weren't actually that special, but this one was on a whole other level. He recalled Morey getting angry for being talked to in such a casual manner and now that was starting to make sense. Clearly this guy was someone very important.

He slowed down as he passed by the Dead Man's Folly. He turned his head and kept his eyes glued to it as he continued moving forward. He squinted at the title of the sculpture and tried to think of what it represented. He was forced to move on too quickly to figure anything out, but it didn't take much thinking to realize it was dark and depressing.

After this, he followed Adonia through the series of stairs and doors until they'd reached what appeared to be their destination. He stood still as she called out to the man, listening to his response. When Adonia made room for him to go inside, he would slowly step forward, making his way inside.

Under his breath, Alby let out a silent "Whoa..." Looking around at the sheer size of the library. His eyes moved along, admiring everything until they finally got to Morey. He wasn't really sure how to greet the man, as his simple way had upset him the previous time. As a result, he took a knee and put on a serious face. "Hello again." The man had a different aura about him now, probably because he wasn't drunk now.

Adonia didnt particularly like the kid. Aside from the claims he was making about Colten, he gave off the similar sense of one of the many too-enthusiastic fans of Colten's novels. The kind she had to watch just in case they lost all sense of self control.

But she could do nothing other than approach, staying just a couple steps behind and to the side of Alby. Colten was being polite but he was prepared for some kind of trick just in case. She would literally eat any untoward magics if this kid tried anything.

Colten was seated in a slightly worn leather armchair, though the wearing seemed to give it that much more charm. Showing off that the furniture had been well tended to and maintained over a long, long period of time.

He frowned immediately as Alby greeted him with the implication that they had met before. "You should sit down, Mr. Alby," he said as he used his long orange and black tail to point at a smaller chair opposite him. They were roughly 20 feet or so apart. "To keep you from further insulting me I would like to make something quite clear: regardless of what the academy security claims I have not met you before and I do not go around roughing up students." He stared into Alby's eyes, daring him to refute his claims.

Alby's eyes widened again at the sight of the man's tail pointing to a chair. That was really cool, but he knew enough not to talk about that right now. He was going to stay focused on the task at hand, which he figured was going to be an apology. Maybe he'd get extra lucky and the man would give him some sort of compensation. Either way, he kept trying to be as mannered as possible, standing up, walking over and sitting on the chair.

What came next was fairly surprising. Morey being insulted wasn't really what Alby expected to hear, but it still at least fit with his character as far as he knew. However, the reason for being insulted was odd. Alby knew people sometimes forgot things when they were drunk, but the man didn't seem that drunk when he met him before. He squinted at Morey, clearly at least a little skeptical but holding back from saying anything due to the serious look in the man's eyes. It looked like he at least thought he was telling the truth, but then again, maybe he was just good at lying.

"I, uh." Alby scratched the back of his head. "Look, if you're just trying to play dumb or if you were drunk and forgot, that's fine. I don't even mind that much, I'm not upset or anything. But just be honest about it. Even with the little anger spurt, I got a pretty good look at you, heard you too." Alby would point to his ear. "Security saw you too. So there really isn't any point in lying." Alby shrugged as he spoke. He had a feeling Morey wouldn't like hearing what he'd just said, but he felt the need to say it. It was shocking to him that this man was even trying to deny what he'd done.

Colten closed his eyes and then massaged the base of one of his horns. Alby was being persistent and Colten knew for a fact he had never before seen him. Let alone was physical with him- something he was certainly not prone to doing without serious provocation.

"I am not lying. Nor is this something I would forget- not for one moment. But I was not present for this alleged incident. Indeed I was right here in Grovefire when the altercation is said to have happened."

He folded his hands over one knee as his tail flicked in annoyance. This was bothering him greatly. Had been ever since he heard about the allegations. Clearly someone was trying to frame him or damage his reputation for some reason. And he would not let that be.

"Alby if I was the kind of person to rough you up over something so trivial as a conversation, why would I invite you into my home and meet with you? Wouldn't I be displeased with you enough to give orders to have you sent on your way. Possibly with a fair bit of intimidation from one of my guardians at the gates?"

The way Colten reacted didn't really match with the one he'd met before. For the most part, he seemed annoyed by what Alby had said but there wasn't any anger, at least nothing even remotely close to last time. Alby pinched his chin after the man stuck with his original argument of not being present for the incident. Either Morey was telling the truth, or he'd been really drunk that night. He kept his hand on his chin, thinking about what he'd said until Colten started making another argument. A logical one.

"Hmm. You make a pretty good point, but then again, alcohol exists. From my end, I'd guess you got really drunk that night, and now that you can think straight, you're trying to cover it up. But hey, if watching you shake me around isn't evidence enough, how about this thing." With a smirk, Alby pulled out the lapel pin. "Look familiar?" He'd watch Colten's face closely as he did this, making sure to catch his reaction.

Colten shook his head. Did they really think he was foolish enough to get so wasted, on school property, to forget himself so badly? Sure he certainly knew his way around a glass of wine and he definitely could see how someone like Alby could get under his skin a bit with the persistence he seemed to display. But really?

"I do not allow myself to get that drunk in public. I have an image and a name that would not disrespect in that manner. This Manor holds itself together under that good name," he replied with cool irritation. He could tell this accuser was working down the list of evidence against him, but in his opinion each and every bit was circumstantial at best.

Then Alby revealed his trump card: the lapel pin left at the scene. And Colten... looked at it curiously. "It doesnt look particularly familiar. I do have a pin in the shape of a pentagon from one of the schools I attended, that looks vaguely similar I suppose. But mine is orange."
