A girl, Ember, probably in her mid twenties, walked towards her house located in a residential area of the city. It was late at night, she was just getting home from her job as a waitress. She wondered if her sister was having any luck finding a new job after she was layed off by her old one. She opened the door and went inside, curious as to why the lights were off. Perhaps her sister was already asleep? As she turned the lights on she decided she'd make a PB&J sandwich before hitting the hay herself. As she made it however, she noticed the jar of jelly was pretty much empty. She headed towards the door to the basement to get some more.....thats when she saw them. A handful of nails were stuck in the sides of the door frame, the floor, and the nearby walls, and a blast mark was on the floor. But the worst was at the top of the door frame. Two blades sticking horizontally from the door, attatched to some kind of mechanism....both were covered in blood.

Ember let out a gasp and covored her mouth when she saw the blades. Becoming nervous she headed towards the door, and thats when she saw her sister, Cindy, lying in a pool of blood at the bottom of the stairs, her back ripped up and her body impaled by several spikes....her forcefully amputated arms dropped at various points along the stairs. Ember screamed at the top of her lungs for just under a minute. After stumbling backwards in a hysterical panic, she ran into a nearby bathroom and locked the door. She desperately called 911 and just barely managed to contain her hysteria enough to give them an address and a plea to hurry. Once she heard sirens she would unlock the door to the bathroom and come running out of the house, unable to contain the sheer terror she was experiencing, she would collapse into a sobbing, screaming heap in their front yard, only able to babble about her sister being dead.

For those investigating for entry points, they would find an all too easy one in the form of an open window at the rear of the house, inside there were areas of the carpet scuffed by heavy boots, but no real dirt for bootprints. The victim was lying face-down in a pool of blood. Both arms had been removed from her body, they could be found along the staircase. The victims shirt and back has been sliced open and her spine appears to be missing. On her back, next to the open wound, the word "infected" has been etched into her skin, likely by a knife. A number of small bruises are located all over her body, as well as one larger bruise on her back near the spine wound. Her chest and lower neck are covered in dozens of short nails, too small to hit anything too important, but enough to cause a lot of pain. Another wound, this one deeper, could be seen at the base of the skull. Of the spikes invilved 4 missed the victim's body, one is embedded in her hip, another punctured beneath her left lung, and the last one just grazing the side of her right lung.

On observation of the traps involved, the nails have traces of blast residue on them, same as the patch of floor at the top of the stairs, indicating the use of a low-power nail bomb. A switch attached to the cieling appears built to hold and drop an object, likely the bomb.
The trap in the door frame features two blades, one is a whole machete, the other is a thin slate of scrap metal with a sharpened edge. The mechanism seems built to swing the blades downward in a 270 degree arc.
Both of these traps are connected to a system of tripwires at the door.
The spike trap, Upon closer inspection, is designed in such a way as to blend in with the floor, without compromising its abilities. It has also been fitted with a three step pressure trigger system, the first starts the system up, the second trigger arms it, the third springs the trap.

If one should check the garbage bag in the kitchen, they will find it contains a large amount of blueberry jam. A full jar of blueberry jam can be found dropped at the top of the stairs.
