”Yeah, sorry.” Tilly said, smiling sheepishly. Lottie was taking the loss in stride, which was probably contributing to Tilly’s gracious victory. She couldn’t really bring herself to act like a jerk to someone who was not only a skilled mage, but also an honorable one.

She grinned brightly at Lottie’s praise. There were two things that she was particularly proud of when it came to her magical abilities: Her creative problem-solving abilities, and the spectacle of a good ol’ fashioned flaming ball of death, and Lottie had just praised both. ”I dunno, that barrier was wild! I can make one that’s unbreakable like yours, but it takes me way longer, it’s so cool that you can just throw one up on command like that-”

Eventually, she finally stopped gushing about the battle that had just occurred long enough to give Lottie a word in edgewise. She offered to teach her that fancy switcheroo spell in exchange for learning how to make her portable hole and her knockout drought. The former was actually one of her easier tricks, and the latter was a pretty simple spell, so she didn’t mind sharing the trade secrets.

”I think that sounds great.” She grinned, taking Lottie’s hand. ”I’m Matilda Blackstone. Just call me Tilly.”
