The Stars for a Light

Shenendoah stared out into the dark blue sea. The moon and stars reflected off of the water. Quickly, Noah slipped off her shoes and rolled up her jeans. She dangled her feet into the water.

She had been there since before it had grown dark, but it was peaceful, so she hadn't bothered to leave.

The salty water was so beautiful how it reflected the moon. Lumis loved it, he looked at the vast waters with a somber look as he sat at the shore. His mind was full of thoughts on the various things that have happened to him. He has been through a lot in his life. Not having a family, well except for one person his older brother. They were separated by an incident that occurred long ago. Lumis had to live his life on the streets alone with no one until he came across the Academy. He had to do things like steal to live. He was saddened by these thoughts.

He was even hunted for reasons that he would never know. He hated it all, but as it stood he found some things; he just hoped that he would find his brother again. He had even managed to make some friends, people that were just like him, here at the Academy. He was spared from emotional suffering by meeting new people and with the help some newfound friends. He just smiled once more and allowed himself to lay down on the shore.

Shenendoah glanced over at him. She couldn't decide whether to talk to him or not at first, but finally she just shrugged slightly to herself.

"Whatcha doing out here this time of night?" She asked. It probably wasn't that late, but she had no watch so she didn't know the exact time.

Lumis just laid there lifelessly on the shore as he looked up into the night sky. He didn't notice the girl nearby until he heard her voice. He sat up, looked over to examine her, then answered "Just enjoyin' the view."

Shenendoah nodded in agreement. "It is beautiful, isn't it?" She moved over a little so that she could talk to him better.

He looked up into the night sky again. Sure it was a beautiful sight. "Sure is nice. Too bad I don't get to enjoy this often." he answered.

"Why not?" Shenendoah asked. She hadn't been at the school long enough to have seen the exact view, but it was so peaceful that she planned on coming back at night whenever she got the chance.

Lumis looked over at the girl and shrugged. He hadn't been here long enough himself to know what exactly was around here. "Actually, I haven't seen everything here as of yet." he answered. He looked up again, admiring the glorious view.
