Before we start rebooting the entire site, I wanted to do some crazy shit so we can go out with a bang. My first idea is that Space Catholics come to Manta Carlos and cause problems. Of course, that's not their actual name. They call themselves
The Sanctarchy

The Sanctarchy is a monotheistic space cult whose leaders - the Sancti, are supposedly the chosen saints of their One True God. They and their government of priests and clerics currently control one planet and several terraformed moons in one solar system. They're known for being eccentric, fanatical, and somewhat backwards by those who know of them at all. At the height of their power many thousands of years ago, they controlled an colossal empire spanning hundreds of star systems, with spacefaring fleets feared throughout their part of the galaxy.

You might be asking: what went wrong? While they had faced numerous skirmishes with other spacefaring empires with varying degrees of success, the real death blow came from within: every other century, a "False God" with terrible power would emerge among the population of one of their most strategically important planets. At a minimum, this would usually result in the planet's annihilation, though sometimes it would lead to one or more star systems being turned against the Sanctarchy entirely. The empire's scholars and priests came to understand that these False Gods were in fact the same entity. They gave the entity a name: Adnihila, sower of chaos, the corrupter, the lady in darkness, the destroyer. Eventually, she led to the death of the empire.

These days, the Sanctarchy is biding its time, stoking the fires of its people's religious fervor, always looking for opportunities to reclaim its former glory and take revenge against Adnihila and any of her remaining followers.

They have learned how to detect Adnihila's power, and theorized ways to contain her indefinitely. Recently, their spies have detected Her on the space station and on Manta Carlos, in a weakened state. The Sanctarchy has sent its most elite inquisitors on a mission to terminate their ancient enemy once and for all.

Some fast facts
  • Inquisitors are elite warriors and investigators. They undergo rigorous training and indoctrination, along with a ritual that either blesses them with psychic powers or kills them. Said ritual involves drinking the souls of sacrificed devout believers, though this is one of many terrible secrets kept even from most inquisitors. Not that knowing this would be likely to shake their faith at all.
  • Inquisitors are fervent, but they are not stupid. They know how to be discreet if it suits them. They are cunning and ruthless.
  • Some inquisitors have minions working under them. Others are independent, and still others work in teams (so if you want to play one you have a lot of free reign)
  • Their god is probably not the God of christianity, though their priests would be happy to try to convince you of that if it would make you more agreeable.
  • Sanctarchy officials conduct many types of religious rituals regularly, for tasks ranging from bathing to cleaning firearms to turning on a computer. Inquisitors are no exception, unless they're trying not to attract undue attention at their discretion.
  • Any kind of 'false' deity is particularly offensive to them. It is the most egregious form of heresy.
  • Sanctarchy citizens draw from many alien species and can look like anything. By far the most common species, however, is a type of winged humanoid which somewhat resembles some human depictions of angels

So, What Am I looking for?
  • People who deal with their bullshit as they search for Adnihila (who is actually my character Andrasta). They may end up being a bit
  • People who play as inquisitors or their lackeys, and don't care too much about their characters dying or whatever. They won't get to stay here long anyway, right? I will also be playing one or two.
  • Maybe even people who hear tales about Adnihila destroying planets and are tricked into helping the inquisitors? idk, could be fun
  • <your cool idea here, hit me up>
come at me. Let's get crazy with it.
