Rayana, a black haired young looking woman was resting on the shore of a small lake, it had been a while since she had set foot upon these lands. Her black dressed was pooled around her as she sat on the shore, not caring that sand was getting on the expensive and silky looking fabric. This person was not one to seemingly care for appearances, although her well kept looks seemed to mean exactly that. As always, appearances could fool even the most well meaning of people.

She was looking down at the moon as it reflected on the water, her eyes shining a pure red color when the light caught her face. In a way, she seemed ethereal as she was sitting there, as a fleeting image that would disppeared if you were to look away even for only a second. Her pale skin was like carved marble and her expressionless face told of many things and yet nothing. Her hands were innocently sitting on her lap, slightly pointy nails being the only sign of what they could truly become should she feel threatened.

Nail polish wasn't something that she used because it would tear off and get tainted too soon. Such was the like of one fit to kill, one that had to end the life of another to survive themselves. No lasting family, no friends and a fear of being discovered although she had overcome such a fear in the earliest days of her long, very long life. It simply did not bother her anymore. It might be a selfish view to hold, but she simply chose survival over superfluous emotions, like caring.

If she was to care deeply for any that crossed her path, she would die only too soon of a broken heart and spirit. Such was her life, cursed as it was, never to care, never to love. She had been foolish to believe in such things as happily ever after once or twice, but those dreams of her's had been crushed to the point where she had wanted to end her cursed life. But she hadn't, in fact, she could not bring herself to do the deed. As cowardly as it might sound, she feared ending her own life because she did not know where she was to go.

For she had sinned, many more times than she cared to count. Perhaps it was too late for her, perhaps one day some fortunate soul would end her life and she would make sure whoever it was would come with her despite the vampire actually being the one who was at fault for all her life. Indeed, mixed feelings were the turmoil seeping into her everlasting soul, her conscious struggling to stay away from the thoughts running through her mind.

A ghastly appearence greeted the lake; a mere sillouhette to the moon; a dim reflection to the body of water. Red irises and focused pupils fell apon the moon and then shot down to another person by the lake. Schnyder began to try to recognize this person; but they obviously have never met or seen him before. Despite his better judgement the ghostly boy trailed down the small hill and to the lake very quietly and very cautiously almost sliding.

Apon reaching the bottom Schnyder pulled the auburn hair from his face; the stark tips glinting in the moon's light. Finally the other became clearer; a female and a beautiful one as well. Schnyder further observed raising an auburn eyebrow in curiosity and apon further examination she didn't seem to be a faculty member. She also didn't seem very harmful... for the most part. For the most part Schnyder decided it might be best to greet this interesting being; maybe he would learn something...

Schnyder stepped forward cautiously taking a deep gulp as he approached the person; her eyes red and almost as maroon as his; a feature that caught him off guard because normally humans don't have red eyes unless their hair was completely colorless... Still he approached and simply greeted "Hello"

Even the glide like movement of the other were not lost on her ears, to her every sound was like music being played for the world to understand. The vampire, for it was what she was, was well aware of the one coming downhill towards her. She was aware of each of his moves, the slightest rustle of fabric as the young man walked. She could even hear the soft wind moving the waves of the lake. In this place, the water seemed not to have frozen and she enjoyed the bitingly cold weather.

to her, it was no different if she was standing in a cold winter night of in front of a warm fire. After a while, everything lost its taste and feel as those occasions had happened many times before and thus had lost their interest. Nothing would ever make the taste of blood leave her mouth as she had survived on it for far to long to remember anything else. She had lost what made her really appreciate life as it is, her humanity, not that specie wise she ever was human anyway.

Rayana only looked up when he was close enough for a normal human to hear him approach, she had to keep the guise up just in case, even if she didn't have anything to fear from such a youth. She was an elder vampire after all. She could not help but wonder about the child that now was fast approaching, what was he doing here. The vampire chose to stay where she was for now, unwilling to disturb the image of such a beautiful night. She was unprepared though to recieve such a short greeting, or to recieve on at all.

''Hello.'' She replied in her purring dangerous voice.

Although she could have played the innocent maiden, she just could not bring herself to care either way. The purr was there just because she had a disconcerting amount of fear she wanted to implant in other people. The black haired woman had that habit, she liked to use her appearance and skills to instill fear into those who looked at her. Sometimes it was more diffuclt than others. Especially with brave people. But you'd be surprised of the reaction you get when you push exactly the right buttons iwth people.

Schnyder could sence something manevolent in her tone even from the simple hello making him for a moment want to turn and walk away but he could also tell that getting scared or running would probably be futile to try so he decided maybe he was being a bit to judgemental or maybe he was right but it'd be dumb to get scared if she is a creature who thrives off of it. Schnyder decides instead to be a bit bold and he extends his right hand to her "The name's Schnyder and you?" he simply stated before taking a moment to look away from her and at the moon and water to make sure that he seemed like he wasn't suspicious at all.

A light breeze rolled by with an acute chill; oddly refreshing to him though. As he kicked some sand out from his shoes he looked closer to the lake... and his own reflection and then at the girls... Or more correctly her absence of a reflection and right away he could remember what she is... Reguardless though he made sure not to respond or react on the observation as that could trigger her into doing something rash which could work against him in some of the worst ways especially because if she decided to prey on him he wouldn't respond like a human would... His body was the shape of humans and he tried to blend in and be as inconspicuous as possible but blood; oxygen and nutrition weren't exactly necessities for him and for someone such as this young woman to find out; she could tell one person; they could tell another person and soon enough everyone around here would know Schnyder's secret...

Malvolent indeed, in a way. Her tone was the way it was for a reason, it usually scared off those who did not truly wished to know her. It was both true and a lie at the same time, It was a subconscious gesture, a proof of the malvolent creature beneath her angelic looks. Living contradiction was a good word to describe the being sitting there looking at him with sinful red eyes. Schnyder had been right in guessing she was a vampire, although her lack of a reflection in the water was due more to not being close enough to it to cast one rather than being a vampire.

The vampire elder tilted her head slightly to the side, seemingly wondering what to do with him. She wasn't sure of his intentions. Had she been a mind reader, she probably would have been able to tell, but fortunately for him, she wasn't. She placed her hand in his delicately, shaking it the slightest minimum required. She then picked her hand out from his, not the slightest phased by 'I'm insignificant so don't bother with me' act. A small quirk of her lips was the only reaction, it proved she was amused.

''My name is Rayana. Were you taking a walk at this time of night?'' She asked.

Oh the treason, projecting the perfect mirror of innocence when she was anything but. Her shining eyes looked away for a moment, wandering over the landscape. As her eyes left the influence of the moonlight, they became as dark as the night surrounding them. She let a face of slight curiosity through her mask but that was it. it was a flickering emotion that did not last long enough to really be apraised.

''It really is a wonderful night and I would understand if you were to appreciate it just as I do.''

She gracefully climbed to her feet, dusting the dark material of her dress with her pale hand as she did. The vampire stepped over to the water, her reflection blending with the small waves being created by the wind, a wind nearly unfelt. Unseen, but she could feel the small prickle of ice as snow started to fall from rapidly gathering clouds. It didn't bother her though, it never did. She simply flicked off any snowflake that dare land on her nose and pale cheeks. She then would swipe it off with her finger only to watch it crumble but not melt.

''Walk with me?'' She asked turning towards him, extending a hand.

When she spoke her name Schnyder saw something come to her face; a sign that she wasn't completely gone. Schnyder could feel something inside her that 'maybe' he thought 'she's not reallly evil at all; or maybe she is but she's that way so she can survive... reguardless she could see through my act of trying to be a coward so it would be pretty dumb to act as such any further... Is she a vampire or some other sort of creature?...Why should I even care? Whatever she is; her situation is probably as misunderstandable as mine so I would be wrong to judge her... But if she is a vampire and takes my blood and learns my secret how do I know she'd keep it? I'll just have to have faith...' his mind continued conversing with itself and listening to her as she took his hand and shook it as a speed that felt like watching malasis pour.

"I'm Schnyder... people who don't like my name call me Red.... and Yes" he responded letting the shy facade in his voice they have a sound to let her believe he was scared dissapeared. But now he became as curious as she herself was. Then his mind began to remember his trip through the stars before he fell through Earth's atmosphere and his body had to be reconstructed to fit the image of human beings. He remembered gazing at the moon as he fell into it's orbit for a short period of time; he once saw an eclipse right before he escaped and fell into Earth's orbit... The moon was very interesting because it harbored so much mysticism even though up close it was a rock; it was still indeed a mystic decoration making the Earth that much more interesting.

When she asked for him to walk with her Schnyder was a bit shocked but didn't think twice before nodding and taking her hand and walking around the edge of the lake; his eyes to his left where he saw the maiden of what species he was unaware and uncaring as she had yet to harm or try harming him and the large full moon. The fresh snow plopped on his head and made the white on the ends of his hair seem longer than they really were but he didn't mind; was kind of a change for him; he was used to sitting and watching the moon alone before going back to his dorm and reading grimoires until he passed out doing research and redrawing diagrams and whatnot on scratch paper at his desk. But for now atleast he was walking the lake with another person; and one who might understand him a little more than most at that and ontop of it all there was a bit of snow which was nice in moderation because it wasn't overwealming; just ice gently falling from the sky onto everything below like a shower of leaves.

A small smile graced the lips of the vampire as the younger 'human' took her hand. Even if he was taller by about an inch tonight she would lead as she knew where she wanted to go. The black haired woman would not let go of his hand until they were there, even if it was a long way off. Although this time it wasn't that far. Unaware of what was going on in his mind, the vampire tugged lightly on his hand, walking away towards the end of the lake, she wanted to go on the other side, but she had to move around it at first. There was a small grove hidden between two hills where she would lead him.

Her pace was leasurely, no hurry in any of the steps she took. She wanted to enjoy her walk and her time alone and she would not let him ruin that for her.

''I had never seen you around here before.'' She said. ''I suppose you must be new.''

The shrug in her voice was hearable although she had not moved to do exactly that. Her feet left very little traces in the ground as it was heard because of the cold. She was happy to note though that even if he wasn't exactly dressed for winter his hands were still as hot as an healthy human being's. She didn't know why it made her happy though, maybe because he would be able to stay longer with her if he was warm, not ice cold like she was. If she hadn't been moving as she was, one would probably have mistaken her as being a frozen corpse because of her body temperature, which was none. She could be compared to a lizard that way, she was cold blooded.

Although bad temprature never stopped her as it did the reptiles. It was the only trait she shared with those anyway, above all, she looked like a human being, certainly a inhuman one but still, no scales or forked tongue thank goodness. Those 'additions' would have been weird to possess. Without anything concrete to compare her to, it might have been a little confuring. But its not like he needed to know any of that. The fact she was barefoot was certainly proof she wasn't exactly human. She wore very little to protect her from the frost and some snowflakes had accumulated on more 'horizontal' parts of her body, mainly anything that stuck out even just a little.

Her hair looked frosted over as if she had aged but it only was snow. It made her skin glitter as if a thousand jewels were attached to it. It took about half an hour to walk around the lake and soon they were in front of a small opening in the trees. She guided her companion between the trees, leading him towards an abandoned fountain with an old overgrown garden. Of course, by now everything was covered in snow and the plants were gone for the winter but it still held an inner beauty especially when the moonlight hit the surroundings just so.

''How do you like it?'' She asked with a smile in her voice although not really on her face.

Schnyder obediently followed noticing how cold her hand had become but he made sure not to comment soon noticing that she was barefoot as well. Schnyder noticed the snow outline of the young lady as he followed her and her non-chalant pace; taking time to enjoy the moon some more as well as the lake; the tide and the surroundings; the trees seemed at rest like most of the students in the school safe and warm; but oddly enough Schnyder felt comfortable outside at night with someone he never met before holding his hand and taking a walk around a lake. To him he felt like she might have been becoming friendly towards him; or she may be trying to take him away from visable sight to take his blood; maybe both; maybe neither but Schnyder began to care less and less just enjoying the walk for what it was worth...

When she commented about him being new he shook his head "na been here for a while; just more of the mousey type; I normally watch the moon from the lake about 240 degrees counter clockwise from where you were if I remember where the center of the lake it well enough; I just decided tonight to take a new route from where I normally took; usually on full moons I try to stay in the woods at my favorite location incase a lycanthrope or worse comes through... Otherwise I'm in my room or in class or working in the library..." He explains as they walk.

A little while afterwards she escorted him to a spring hidden in the woods; it took him by surprise as he never thought something like this would be out here in the middle of the woods; the plants resting from the frost and the spring's fish keeping to the bottom so they don't freeze; it was all very natural and beautiful... Not something Schnyder got used to seeing often once he decided to live amongst the humans very often so he took it in and allowed himself to enjoy it wondering if it might be the last time he would but once again the thought of his demise faded away as he simply took in the awe of the spring

He then got himself together and replied to her "It's exquisite... I haven't seen things like this in a long time" He said looking into her eyes which seemed like they could glow at any moment but then he returned his gaze to the spring running his free hand through his hair brushing out snow that fell with a soft flump.

The vampire smiled as he followed her willingly, few ever went willingly with her. Most were too afraid to do much of anything. She after all was one of the fiercest of her kind. People tended to avoid her altogether by some more primal instinct that made them fear her lust. If she didn't see them, she couldn't get intersted now could she? Many who had tried themselves against her hadn't survived, they were six feet under before they could issue their challenge. She was moody like that, both dangerous and kind at her times. It was one of the reasons why she didn't have many friends, she didn't get along with many. And even then its uneasy at best.

The elder rarely could enjoy such simple things as a walk around a lake under the moonlight. His hand felt warm in her own icy one and hse would be reluctant to let it go once it was time. She relished the warm even though cold temperatures didn't bother her. Possibilities of loosing his warmth so soon were present but she didn't care, she would enjoy it as long as it would last. The vampire let go of his hand and sat on the edge of the stone fountain.

''I often come here to relax.'' She said scooping up some snow in her hand.

Observing the snow as she crushed it, the vampire let the snow fall next to her, a melancolic expression on her face as she gazed at the moon.

''It had been a while since last I came here.''

The black haired woman shook the cobwebs from her mind delicately, giving him a sweet smile.

''Are you a student at the school?''
