When she found the tickets to the island with the mysterious letter inviting her to this island she expected some kind of cargo...Not a fishing boat. The sailor hardly looked at her or answer her questions. She was told to shut up and find a place where she would not get in the way. Agatha found the whole thing very sketchy, but she was desperate. She already left her old life behind, and she could not go back...Especially since she had no train tickets to do so...Eventually she ended up finding a spot close to the engine room where she could get some shut-eye...Eventually the loud and obnoxious noises coming from the engine faded in the distance as she fell asleep for the first time in 3 days...She had no idea how long she slept. And to be honest she was half expecting to wake up with a slit throath. However, there was nothing of the sort. Instead the horn was blown loudly, waking her up without any warning as one of the sailors working the boat informed her that they reached their destination.

Agatha walked toward the bridge. She usually wore warmer clothes, but right here, thanks to the season and the tropical climate, she had to relinquish her usual turtleneck sweater for a simple tank top that showed a lot more skin than what she was used to (Mostly because she didnt like to show any of it) and felt incredibly awkward walking to the deck, leaning over the guardrail, she squinted hard...After a while she could finally see the pier appear in the distance...She knew she was nearly blind, but from what she saw from here, it looked rather...Shabby. The closer she got to that famous school, the more she was worried about what she would find. She asked the captain if he was sure this was the right island, but he ended up replying something along the lines of "Oh no of course, It's not like I'm a captain and I know what I'm doing" that made her shut up and sigh in resignation...Even though she swore to herself that she wouldnt care about anything from now on, she was still scared about what she was going to find there....Or what would find her first...

She was promptly unloaded as well as a couple of crates full of fish, and then the boat left immediately. Agatha remained here, looking at the last memory of her old life taking off before walking away...She looked like a total tourist that was for sure. The 16 year old albino chubby girl was wearing a tank top and a pair of baggy pants, she was carrying a heavy bag on her back and pulling a suitcase her free hand...Obviously being too much of a load for her, she refused to surrender her luggages as she made her way through the town, stopping passerby to show them the letter

"Ex...Excuse me."

Said the woman as she waved clumsily the letter

"Can someone give me direction ? I'm looking for the Starlight Academy ?

She would probably need a simple push to make her fall over completely

"Urrrgh."
The short brunette growled in frustration as she looked once more over the pier. The fifth boat today to come here. Hmph.
It turned out one could never really focus here. For one, it was too noisy - the crashing of waves against wood and sand, the horns of boats, the irritating squawks of seemingly every single bird alive nearby, and the occasional divebomb of bird poop coming dangerously close to her perfect color-coded organized notes...
Yes, the pier was relaxing - but it was near-impossible to study efficiently. Really, anywhere by the water, studying, was preposterous
"Can someone give me directions? I'm looking for the Starlight Academy!"
Hhhh. There seemed to be no shortage of people looking for the same thing - Starlight Academy. If memory served, the pier was also where new students came up to the island.
Well, studying wouldn't be fruitful at all, so why not help this girl out? Even if she seemed much too energetic for Aswan. Her friend Raph had also seemed very energetic, and yet.
That seemed to be a theme lately - and yet. She hadn't done much here, and yet...
With a sharp glance up at the (slightly chubby) girl, she nodded.
"Maybe I can be of help?"

Oh Agatha had a lot of energy alright, she was running on something she had aquired a lot lately : despair. Even though she seemed like she was bursting to find where the academy was, the truth was that she had too much heavy luggage and if she didnt move about quick she wasnt sure if she was going to be able to pick it up. The girl didnt look well rested, in fact when Aswan would come closer, she would look more like she's at wits end with the whole situation. Sweating and panting, trying to catch her breath every now and then. The climate, cloudy yet hot did not seem to be what she was used to. The girl wasnt that tall either, a little over 5,2. She had bags under her eyes, although it was hard to see them behind the thick lenses of her glasses. The albino girl raised her eyes toward that new girl and offered a smile full of hope.

"Ah...Yes thank you. I just arrived and I have no idea what to do, or where I should go, or what is even that academy in the first place."

She looked like she was indeed desperate for some help, both in getting around and for someone to help her carry her stuff, even though she didnt ask for the latter.

"By your accent, I'm assuming you're coming from the west coast right ? I'm from New York...The state not the city. My name is Agatha, are you a student here, err...Miss...?"

She asked for her name as politely as she could even though she was a tad awkward. She did look like she could use a friend.

"First of all, calm down," said the translucent girl with a sigh, waving a hand to her eye bags. Aswan herself had these - she didn't sleep much for all the studying. She figured a girl like this probably did the same, though if she looked closer, she could feel something wasn't right with this girl. Almost like her - running off despair, although Aswan couldn't really identify the cause just yet.
She decided not to mention it.
Note to self - become less sharp/severe. I may be scaring her.
With her effort to give a friendly smile (which ended up looking like more of a baring of teeth rather than a smile), she strolled over to Agatha's luggage and, upon inspecting it, nodded and tugged at one of the suitcases.
"Yes," she replied to Agatha's question casually, as she hefted the suitcase, "I do come from the West Coast, as evidenced by my apparent accent. Although, people have told me I'm formal for someone from Nevada." A shrug.
"In any case, it's nice to meet you, Agatha. My name's Aswan Gomari." Aswan wasn't sweating at all from theforce of exertion, which was quite odd - but then again, she was quite odd. At least, now. "I suppose it's safe to assume you're going to the Starlight Academy school too. What grade are you in?"

Agatha sighed and nodded when she was asked to calm down, putting down her bags and catching her breath. She had a long trip and she seemed rather anxious to be in foreign territory. Both girls ended up smiling awkwardly to each other. Agatha brandished her smile like she was holding a shield, to show that no, she had no ill intent. When she started lifting her suitcase, she tried to protest weakly, but she was already carrying it and her voice died in her throat. She grabbed onto her remaining things and finally replied

"Nice to meet you Aswan...Is that Iranian ? I think I recognize the name from somewhere...Err, sorry if my question isnt appropriate..."

She cleared her throat, Pushing back some of her white, albino hair behind her ears.

"Anyway, yes I...Well I used to be in 11th grade. I didnt quite registered yet, I just received that letter and kind of followed it there. I didnt quite expected to be moved around in a fishing boat though but it doesnt seem like a lot of travelling cargos are coming around here...To be quite honest, I wasnt even sure I was going to find anything, I couldnt find anything about this "Manta Carlos Island" on the internet, nor in any of the Atlas my father owned...I mean..."

She delved into her pockets to pick up her invitation letter, though it was neatly folded, the piece of paper had known better days.

"What do they even mean by "A school for people just like me"? How would anyone be supposed to come here in the first place with such a vague pitch...I mean I did so maybe it works but..."

She lowered her arms in defeat

"I guess right now, what I could really use is somewhere to lay down."

Oh. OH. Aswan actually had to stifle a laugh. She was worried about offending her? Pfft. "Not Iranian, quite - it's Egyptian. Fascinating, really - because I do have Egyptian blood, somewhere along the line."
Hmm - in the six months she'd been here, she had really changed. She was making actual conversation (even if it was small talk) with an actual person. "It's no bother though - it doesn't offend me nearly as much."
Tugging a suitcase behind her, she gave another trying-smile and listened to her. There was no denying the fact that Agatha had been born albino, which was actually quite interesting to her girl like Aswan - it was rare. But somehow Agatha pulled it off.
Back to the topic at hand. Aswan had been much too lenient with her mind the past few months.
"Oh, that's probably quite normal," Aswan replied off-handedly. "I have tried to find the whereabouts of this school on the Internet multiple times, only to be met with some sort of school drawing ripped straight from one of those animes."
She figured she shouldn't mention she knew the anime.
"11th grade, hm? I ill be in the 11th grade as of next year. Or, rather, this year. When the new school year starts - oh. I will have you know - Starlight Academy is... well, it's always very interesting. It's for 'special' students - that is t say, students with unique powers and abilities. You will see much of that as time goes on."
Ahem.
"At any rate, do you have a dorm yet?"

Pushing her thick glasses back on her nose, she nodded quietly. Judging by her body language she was probably worried she would offense someone by breathing too hard. She always seemed on the edge, stressed out, even when she did nothing.

"Ah yes, I believed the Gomari particle is what lead me to this conclusion. Sorry about that."

The newcomer listened to Aswan. She did seem to know what anime where, afterall Agatha did look a bit asian, even though it was hard to tell thanks to her complexion and glasses. Her appearance making her stick out like a sorethumb anywhere she went even though she looked quite regular apart from the fact she was an albino. She politely listened but seemed sceptical at best when she talked about unique powers and abilities. Finally she replied.

"No...I do not have a dorm..."

She gave her a suspicious look, it looked like she was now having second thoughts about asking for help

"Are you..." She seemed to try to find the exact words she wanted to ask, but finally settled for the next best thing. "...How unique are we talking about exactly ? If...That's alright with you, can I ask you why are you here exactly ?"

Her hands were shaking a bit now...She seemed...Scared.

Oh no - by the look of things, she was intimidating the girl. That skeptical look she wore while Aswan spoke, the suspicious look when Aswan asked if she had a dorm...
Perhaps she wasn't the best at socializing just yet, after all. Quickly, Aswan set the bags she was carrying down, and offered her own skeptical, sharp look, to rival Agatha's.
A sigh of relief, when she asked about the Academy. Agatha had no ill intentions - she only wanted to know what to expect. Unique....
"Well... Unique is a fitting word to describe this place. People of all species come here, as well. Pyrokinetics are in no shortage here, as well as..." Horsemen of the Apocalypse? No - it would rattle her more. She decided to sub in herself. "....ghosts. Such as myself."

It was obvious gears were grinding at full speed in the Albino mind, her gaze going from Aswan to the ground. She was processing the information rather quickly but it was obvious she didnt quite know what to make of it. Somehow it looked like her friendly behavior had quickly turned much more reserved. As if she had gone from friend to stranger in the blink of an eye. The whole thing had lasted barely a couple of seconds, but the sudden shift was easily noticeable. To be honest, just by looking at Agatha it was obvious to see she was now feeling a lot more nervous. However when she revealed she was a ghost she looked a bit more compassionate, though still a little dubious. As if Aswan was waiting for the right time to suddenly jump at her throat and she was getting herself ready for it.

"...You are the more corporeal ghost I have yet to meet. The few I encountered before you were not this talkative, nor this...Visible."

She dropped her things too and raised prudently her arms.

"I...Mean you no harm though. I am sorry I have stumbled upon your last resting place and if you let me go I will stop bothering you."

She seemed to have had some bad encounters with ghosts before, her eyes betrayed genuine fear

"I dont know whom gives the inhabitants of this island their powers, but what I do know is magic cant be triffled with, especially in the hands of teenagers, so I guess that school is a...Good thing ? If they do get to learn how to use their powers for good and arent doomed by the pact they made with the entities granting them their strenght...I....It musnt be easy to be a ghost here."

She was talking nonsense, assuming people here got their powers by making pacts with magic creatures rather than being born with it.

Agatha. Poor Agatha - she must have scared her, or at least unnerved her. It hadn't, then, been wise to tell her about the uniqueness of herself. Of being dead, she corrected herself wryly in her mind. Yes, she could see how such a sentence could worm itself into the head of others, feeding on their fear. Hell, if it had been herself, three years ago, she would have found the situation preposterous, or at least unnerving, as it seemed to have done to Agatha. If Aswan had to guess, the amount of awkwardness between them had increased by about 1000%. She sighed.
And then laughed. Because, really, what Agatha was saying didn't have much effect, if her research thus far had been correct -
AH. She should have been gettin back to her research, instead of socializing. Stupid, moronic Aswan. Still, she supposed, she'd gotten herself into this mess.

"Don't worry - you aren't treading anywhere near my last resting place. Unless this happens to be my own home in Nevada, which it clearly is not." She held up her hands as well, an attempt at an easygoing expression spreading across her face. An uneasy laugh. "As for my corporeality - I suppose it is one of the many effects of an unknown variable in my research that affects it. You seem to be startled, or unnerved - please, don't be. I'm not going to hurt you, nor do I have any capacity to - as it is, I'm...." Ugh. She hated using this word, in particular to describe herself, but - "... Frail. I can barely hurt a fly." She let out a sharp chuckle. "And even so I'd have to live with the fly-ghost buzzing around my head." Had she just made a joke? Oh, this was strange. She wasn't used to making jokes...

"You're right - it is not, but I'm adapting well, actually. The school is very good, at least in an academic sense - most areas are well-charmed, and most are very nice people who wouldn't hurt you. Most are born with their powers, and as a result are skilled at keeping their powers at an acceptable limit."
