The real wrong side of the bed.

A muted thump came from the roof, followed by a muffled "Ow..." which came out as more of a groan than a word.

The culprit of the noise, while only seconds ago, he had been face down on the .. whatever, was now sitting, rubbing his neck wincing. Violently gold eyes glanced around his new surroundings, deeming it to be early morning, and let a quiet sigh escape his lips.

Trust his gift to get him in trouble even when he was sleeping. Some people fell out of bed when they had a nightmare. Ren teleported. And he never knew where he was going to end up. But one fact remained. Whenever he teleported, he always, without fail, teleported too high above the ground, and fell. And it was a rather rude awakening.

Now that the shock of waking up on the roof had worn off, he was beginning to feel the coolness of the air, shivers running up and down his spine. Realizing that he didn't have his goggles only increased his need for teleporting, and after a few seconds of thinking, up popped a black zip up hoodie, which he put on. Following shortly after, came his goggles, which he slipped around his neck. If he was going to be awake, he might as well make the best of it.

His black hair, usually spiked in some way or another, hung limply around his ears, in a long shaggy style that would either make him look like a surfer or a hockey player.

Fia sat out on the roof looking at the night's sky, she had took off her bandana which usually hid her eyes from sight. They looked at the night's sky they seemed to glitter at the stars, her only comfort when she was young was the glistening of the stars on the countryside.

At nightime there was no one to duel so she felt she could finally relax. She wore a loose fitting shirt and a loose fitting short-like pants that fit modestly on her body. Her long white hair blew in the night's wind, it was cold out but she used night's like this as training to endure cold tempetures.

She heard a groan and looked towards the area she heard the sound uttered and spotted a boy about her age. Standing there with goggles and a black hoodie, she didn't hear anyone come up the stairs so she figured he must've flew or teleported there. She first thought to ignore him, but curiousity and boredom drove her to ask him some questions since she was new at Starlight Academy.

"I guess it must be normal for people to appear out of nowhere here. I'm Fia, you are?" She asked curious to who this boy was and how he managed to appear almost soundlessly except for impact.

Ren shrugged. "I have no idea. I guess so." he grinned slightly sheepishly, though the grin didn't reach his eyes, which remained serious and golden, as always. "And I'm Ren. Pleased to meet you, Fia." he added, placing his hands in the pockets of his hoodie.

He moved to the edge of the roof, looking off and down, mind whirring to erase the memory of his dream. He hated nightmares. He exhaled slowly, his breath forming into a slight cloud. "I didn't know anybody would be up here.. Not that I really decided to 'pop up' here anyways.. but.." he trailed off, having slowly but surely learned to stop himself while he was ahead, and shut up before he got himself in trouble.

This girl had an interesting feeling around her, and he wasn't quite sure what it was. But all the same, company wasn't so bad in life, and talking would probably help remove the memory of the dream from his mind.

She smiled lightly, she always seemed distant her eyes seemed far away yet soft. If she knew someone was coming she'd have put her bandana on again, she sadly was unaware of his coming. She took the bandana which was usually tied on her arm and placed in on her hair tying it somewhat like a dorag creating a shadow over her eyes making her not seem as "girlish" she hated to feel as if people thought she was just a weak girl.

She felt better with the bandana fastened now, she turned to look at the boy. "Pleased to meet you to, so you didn't decide to come up here. So I take it there's another reason, anyway..." She suddenly realized her lack of swords, she hated the bare feeling of being separated from her swords. She didn't know why she had thought she'd met no one.

"So what's your "gift"?" She asked wondering what kind of gifts people at this academy had. She knew she didn't truly have much of a power when separated from her swords, but she wondered how much a help her studying at the academy would do.

"Pleased to meet you to, so you didn't decide to come up here. So I take it there's another reason, anyway..."

Ren grinned again, dipping his head slightly. "Yeah.. Nightmares." he left it at that, pleased that she was fine with moving the conversation forward.

"So what's your "gift"?"

He smiled, stepping over the edge of the school, and plumeting for a moment, before disapearing, and reappearing where he had been before he fell. "I can teleport." he said, not particularily gloating in the fact, but not ashamed either.

He blinked, and a black baseball hat appeared infront of him, and he caught it before it hit the ground and placed it on his head. "Me, and anything else." he shrugged, and returned the question. "You?"

"Ah, that explains your sudden appearance then." She said with a light smile, not going further into his nightmare experience. "So you can teleport anything else? How much weight can you teleport at a time?" She asked curious how much this boy's ability could bench at a time.

"Oh... me, mine's not that noticable. I have skill with swords and can when using them make create a blade like wind which would do some damage. But I'm more interested in swordsmanship than my power. Though it's handy." She said leaving it at that, she felt so naked without her swords at her side. She was still working on no sword blade winds, but it didn't come as easy as with a sword since she'd have something to concentrate her power on.

She looked back at the sky, "So, have you been here long?" She asked curious to learn more about the students at the academy. "Is there many good fights here?" She then asked out of no where turning her gaze back to the boy.

"Well, Um.. Yeah. I can teleport pretty much anything I want, if I've seen it before. Or if it's a really good drawing or explaination.. But those are a little iffy, and I'm not so good at that." he paused, feeling the need to move around now that he was awake. He'd always had a high energy level, so he forced himself to remain still, managing to keep his hands in the pockets of his hoodie, fidgeting slightly.

He nodded. "That's cool. I'm not really that big of a fighter.. Well, that is.. I.." he cleared his throat, trying to figure out how to put into words that his pranks often got him beaten up, as well as his big mouth, and he was.. ok.. at holding his own in a fight, he'd say he didn't pick fights, but technically, pulling a prank was picking a fight.. "Nevermind." he glanced at his.. socks, deciding that it was safer to keep his mouth shut, and instead, focused on a pair of sneakers, that appeared next to him. He sat down then, placing them on his feet and tying them up as he listened to Fia more.

"Nope, I haven't been here long at all. I just started the year." he replied, in a 'hows the weather' sort of tone. He was here because he wanted to learn how to teleport further.. Mostly. And with the hopes that maybe people didn't like human punching bags here.

"And fights? I have absolutely no clue. Probably though, since this is a school to help you learn how to control your gifts better. That probably goes for in a fight too." he shrugged, mentally adding that he hoped that they were just in sparing places.. And not randomly on campus.

She smiled noticing the boy's fidgeting, she often felt that way herself. She often couldn't sleep because of her unablity to lay still long. And sometimes when she did sleep it was right in the middle of public because she was bored. Most of the time she fought or had adventures in her dreams, that's another reason she chose to be a swordsman. Because it often brought more adventure than anything else. She looked at the sky again, she often thought about her past on pirates' ships. She loved the sea for it's neverending adventure, it was more exciting than land.

She listened to him and couldn't help but chuckle in her mind at the fact he couldn't explain himself. She figured it was because he fought without intention of fighting. She only fought people to make herself stronger but she never killed someone without good reason. In fact she hadn't killed anyone yet, she wasn't the kind that slaughtered people. She had a love for human kind and wanted to be a good addition to it, but wanted to be strong in order to protect those dear to her and have adventure.

She mainly pushed people away for the fact she thought she wasn't strong enough to protect them from all enemies. She nodded at his comment, "I just started a few days ago myself." She often seemed far off, but it wasn't that she thought herself better it was that she was afraid of getting close to people though. She didn't want to lose her tuft shell since when she did it usually ended up terribly.

She nodded, "I guess so, I don't know if many will swordfight though sadly." She missed her pirate nakama, she knew they were dead because of a marine attack but she couldn't help but wish they still were around. She remember the goofy things they did, she sighed missing those times she could get out of her shell without fear.

Ren nodded understandingly. "I know the feeling." he paused, wondering momentarily if he should share his non magical talent... Which was why he knew the feeling of not having many who fought in the same was as you. "I'm..Pretty good with the quarter staff.. Or any staff, for that matter.." he paused again. He never was one to talk fast, for if he did.. He never stopped. "But hardly anyone uses it anymore.. I've never actually used it in mortal combat or anything like that.. Just training with people back where I used to live."

He stood again, sneakers now tied onto his feet. His stomach growled, and he winced, pretty sure that the entire world could have heard that one. He was hungry. Really, really hungry. This time, it was from the kitchen that he brought something. Two somethings, just in case. Two granola bars. If he was hungry, he figured she might be too. The first one he brought hit him on the head, and he mumbled an "Ow.." not particularily ashamed of the fact, before he caught it. The second one went much smoother, and he simply caught it in his hand. "Hungry?" he offered one to her, waiting for her to either take it or decline before starting on his.

She smirked interested, "You pefer metal or wood when you fight with staffs? I have meddled with staff fighting before, I feel more at home with swords though. Sadly I've broken a good amount in battle. I'd love to maybe fight with you sometime, maybe you could use your staff against my blades. I've heard of staff users before being able to break swords. Though I tend to be more battle prone, I like to increase on my skills and it's best to fight in order to find your weak spots and improve than never move a step forward."

Once you got Fia to talk in weaponry and fighting she became a bit of a chatterbox. Fighting was something she liked and she had skills in, she wasn't one to say she was better or act superior she treated everyone with equal skill. She often suggested people hone their untapped skills inside them. She often could pick out the perfect weapon by a person's attitude and actions.

She saw him summon a bar and she chuckled seeing it hit his head. She almost wanted to comment on the fact if he fought he might accidently summon something that would knock himself out. But she kept it to herself, she at first didn't answer but she hadn't eaten supper or even lunch that day since she often felt odd eating with the other students. She was used to being treated like a loner or a tuft "guy" She hated the feeling of being treated like a teenager when she entered the room, where she came from she was a adult she could've already been married. But she wanted to achieve goals and settling for some boring dull sit on the farm kind of guy didn't alure to her.

She looked at the bar suddenly feeling her hunger which she so often suppressed and smiled slightly. "Sure." She said trying to not act ingrateful, she wasn't one to lose her head over something. She was grateful just she liked to keep her shell on to people, seeing the past she had. She took it slowly she almost felt uneasy seeing she didn't know him that well. She looked up and smiled kindly again, "Thank you." She had good manners even though she wasn't perfect, she often wanted to be polite even if it hurt.
