Lebeda was nervous. The kind of nervous that made one second guess everything, and created the butterflies in one's stomach. The part that made her even more anxious was that this was not something she could practice for. Isadora had contacted her about her trial, stating she was ready. It took Lebeda several minutes to settle on the right response. What she ended up sending in return was a simple and plain "Understood" with a suggested time and date at Oceania Park.

She waited on a bench near a fountain. Lebeda conversed with a small flock of sparrows to pass the time. Eventually she spotted Isadora and waved her friend over. "Hello!" She greeted, though her words quickly turned awkward, "Um, so, your trial! Um, are you nervous?"

Isadora had actually been early. Like, stupid early. But she didn't want Lebeda to know that. So she had just been wandering around the streets around. She seemed calm and collected on the outside, casually vaping and looking at her phone, but the truth was that she was walking to burn off the anxious energy that had been building up. Hell, she wasn't even looking at anything on her phone. She couldn't even concentrate long enough to open an app or whatever.

"Nah," she replied as she approached Lebeda. You know, like a liar. She pulled her sunglasses off.

"So..." She shoved her phone into a pocket and put her vape away. "What do we do first?"

What do we do first. Lebeda had wondered that herself. She had worried so much, that she actually checked out several self help books for godhood at the local library. There was a surprising amount of literature written by gods for other gods. Though, due to the wide variety of gods and god-powers, most advice boiled down to trusting herself. There was worst advice out there.

"Well. . . you desire your powers back. . . and you must undergo a trial." Lebeda took a deep breath, and despite that awkward start she rallied. "Your trial. . . " A feeling bubbled up from within her. It was like sitting by a window on a warm, sunny day. Then the next moment you look out the window and see that it had started to rain. Though she was always next to the window, all she ever had to do was turn her head and look.

When she spoke next her voice was different. It was both the same and not. The same tone and inflection as her normal speech, but with a moreness that went beyond mere hearing and instead became something felt. "Your trial. . . will not be easy. To acheive what you desire, you must speak with your mother. Talk with her day by day for seven days, only then will you earn what you desire."

Isadora waited as Leb began to concentrate. She crossed ger arms and considered what this 'trial' would be. She figured it would be something physically painful and difficult. But hey, she's been in a lot of difficult situations before. Whatever it was, she figured she could handle it.

And then Leb spoke. The word 'mom' trailed down her spine.

"What?!" She blurted out. "N-no, no no no no--we are not doing that. How would I even contact her any--"

Before she could finish her sentence, Isadora felt her phone vibrating in her pocket. She carefully pulled it out of her pocket, as if it could detonate like a bomb at any moment.

The number on the screen was unfamiliar, but it said it was from New York. The word 'fuck' ran through her mind many, many times.

She looked at Leb, then back to her phone. Her hand trembeled a bit as she forced herself to answer.

"Hello?" She asked with obvious hesitation.

"...Izzy?"

Noooooope

Upon hearing that voice, Isadora had a very dramatic reaction; she suddenly whirled around and threw her phone into a fountain that was a few feet away.

"There....there has to be another option, yeah?" She asked as she turned back to Leb.

"Can't I like...walk through fire? Get stabbed a million times? Lose a limb?!" She was clearly becoming more desperate with every suggestion. "There's got to be another option!"

A blink and Lebeda felt like her usual self again. She looked concerned at Isadora's reaction, but did not doubt that Isadora could complete this trial. It was difficult for a reason. Change is a reaction, and thus requires action. Though, she did wonder if her voice had reached this woman's mother from across time and space.

"Oh!" Lebeda gasped as the phone was hurled into the fountain. She was half-standing when Isadora turned to her. "N-no. I'm sorry. This is your trial and. . .no, I can not change it." Lebeda sat back down, and placed a gentle hand on Isadora's shoulder. She gave the other woman a smile, and squeezed her shoulder. "Isadora, I know you can do this. You will overcome this."

Lebeda knew it, and she hoped Isadora would come to know it as well.

Tilting her head back, Isadora let out a long groan. She needed that moment to calm down and think the situation through. She reminded herself why she was doing this in the first place: she wanted to be psychic again. Her experience of falling into the alternate dimension had solidified that. She felt weak being 'just a human,' and she hated it. When she could read minds, she always had an advantage. She needed it back.

"You said a week? Right, a week...not a month, or a year. It's just a week..."

She stared at Leb for a moment as the other woman encouraged her. It wasn't something Isadora was used to, and it took her a moment to respond.

"Er...right. A week. I can deal with a week." She nodded. She was clearly not feeling confident about it, but...it's what she had to do, so she would do it.

"Alright, I guess I gotta....go fish my phone out." With a sigh, she heads over to the fountain to find her phone.
