Helena wasn't in the student council or any clubs, but she was known among the teachers as a responsible students, if not slightly spoiled. And that was probably what often drove them to ask small favours of her. Helena didn't mind, of course, she liked helping around, for sure. But they had never asked her to give new student a tour before. Rather Helena was surprised they wanted her to handle such a big responsibility. Couldn't the new student council do it? Or a member of that volunteering club Helena had been considering joining.
Well, too late to back out now, Helena was on her way to the main gate, feeling slightly nervous but confident. At least she wasn't going to be alone, since it seemed there were going to be other people there as well.

At the main gate there was still no one, and Helena halted by it and looked around. No signs of arriving cars or people. She just needed to wait then. Helena dug out her phone from her purse and texted Destra, that she might be late today. Her boyfriend's overprotectiveness was toning down, but Helena still wanted to give him updates since he tended to worry. And after sending the text Helena slipped the phone away and stood by the gate, waiting for the new student.

It had been Bel's turn on the cheer squad to welcome the new student to Starlight and show them around the school with the help of other people on the welcoming committee. But as she neared the gates she only saw Helena standing there. A girl she sometimes had a class with, and who she wasn't exactly friends with, but was at least on a somewhat friendly "hello, how goes?" basis.

"Helena?" Bel stated questioning as she arrived at the gate in her school uniform. She had just gotten out of Advanced Math, a subject she did well in but was not exactly her favorite.

"You here to meet the new guy?" Bel asked as she glanced around them and saw that, yup, only the two of them. Nobody else was in site.

A sleek black Bentley pulled up smoothly to the front gate, with the passenger side - and its blacked-out windows - facing the gate. As it came to a full stop, the driver got out and walked around to the rear passenger door. He opened it and, after a few moments, a young man stepped up and out of the car. He was tall, strikingly so, with black hair and dark eyes - before he hid them from the sun behind an equally dark pair of Ray-Bans. The first thing that one might notice about him was how unnaturally pale he was, almost like marble. Perhaps the next would be his attire. He wore a black three-piece suit that fit his frame so well it could only be bespoke. A white pinpoint dress shirt with a red-and-black silk tie. Black Amadeo Testoni cap-toe Oxfords.
Cesare Mayakovsky had arrived at Starlight Academy.

The driver got back into the Bentley (no bags to remove from the trunk - all of Cesare's things had been pre-delivered) and drove away as Cesare made his way towards the two young women. And rather attractive young women they were - petite, blonde...maybe sisters? Ah, but one's eyes were blue while the other's were green. Not sisters, then. Or at least, more probably not. And the one with blue eyes was missing her left thumb. No scent of blood, and his keen eyes caught the way the light hit the scar tissue - not a recent injury. Hard to tell how exactly old they were because they were rather petite (and the blue-eyed one had such doll-like features!), but they seemed to be around his age, give or take a year. Both were wearing...something that must pass for a school uniform around here. He made a firm decision right then and there that he would never, ever wear that.
All of this passed through his mind in the three or four strides it took him to reach the young women.
"Hello ladies. My name is Cesare Mayakovsky. Will you be my...escorts? On the tour of this...fine educational establishment?" he asked with a roguish smirk.

Helena turned to look behind her when her name was called out, and she saw someone she kind of knew but not that closely. She knew the girl's name was Bel, and they had some classes together and she was in the cheer squad. And that probably meant she was there to accompany Helena. Helena felt relieved, the new student was probably arriving soon and she didn't want to be there to greet him alone.

"Hi Bel. Yes, exactly. And I assume, or hope, that you're the same."
Helena chuckled a bit, but if Bel was going to answer Helena then she was cut short. Right after Helena finished speaking a car pulled up, a very expensive car. Helena could tell, her family owned couple of the same model. But they mostly favoured Mercedes-Benz.
Hmmm, so this new student is of the richer kind?
Helena thought, and that much wasn't hard to deduce, especially after the guy himself stepped out in all his glory. Or, well, the glory of his suit, which Helena's trained eye deemed to be ridiculously expensive as well. Her father had said that a man's fortune could be counted from the clothes he wore. And this boy really liked waving that fortune around, unlike Helena.

The guy walked over to them, and the moment he called the two "ladies" in that tone Helena knew his type. She had met dozens upon dozens of people like him and she had dated one or two of them. But nevertheless there was a smile on Helena's face as she nodded a bit.
"Hello, Cesare. Yes, we are here to act as your guides and give you a small tour of the school. I'm Helena. Nice to meet you."
Helena reached out her right hand, the hand that was still fully intact, for a handshake. She would let Bel do her own introduction.

"Yes I am, the cheer squ-..." Bel stopped what she was going to say to Helena mid-sentence when a very expensive looking sedan type car pulled up in front of the school entrance and parked to let somebody out.

"What the...?" Bel muttered under her breath and in disbelief when a fairly good-looking, young man, a vampire she'd guess, emerged from the waiting car.

Watching him as he approached, Bel automatically folded her arms in front of her, and just stared at him coolly. She had noticed the swagger in his gait and something in her, intuition maybe, knew that he had been sizing them up.

"Escorts? You wish pretty boy," she snorted quietly and under her breath, not at all impressed by him so far. Also, his ridiculous comment only served to raise her hackles for some reason

Listening to Helena as she gently corrected him and introduced herself, acting as polite as she could be - probably way politer than Bel would have ever been if she had encountered Cesare alone first.

"A pleasure, I'm sure. I'm Beltane, part of the school's welcoming party," she said stiffly as she introduced herself to him, following Helena's suit and offering Cesare her hand to shake.

Cesare shook Helena's hand, then Bel's, nodding to both as they properly introduced themselves. He pretended not to notice Bel's muttered comment, though his sensitive ears picked it up. He simply noted silently that she thought he was pretty. He thought she was pretty, too.
As he turned fully towards the school, and began to walk forward at a slow pace, he continued the conversation.
"Beltane," he said, absolutely loving the sound of that name, "Were you actually born on May 1st?" It would be very interesting if that was indeed her birthday - it was the day after Cesare's. They would share a pair of festivals.

Bel shook Cesare's hand and nodded back when he acknowledged them. "No, I'm afraid it's not. My birthday is January sixth, Epiphany or Twelfth Night, for those who celebrate Roman Catholic holidays," she informed him, remembering to be polite and so kept her tone politely neutral and informative.

Bel's muttered comment carried to Helena's ears too, and she understood Bel's feelings, she really did. Suppose Helena had encountered enough of Cesare's type to know not react to his words in any special way. That only fueled their fire. And what do you know, it seemed like Cesare paid special attention to Bel first, and when Cesare was not looking Helena gave the girl a sympathetic look. Helena wished Bel wouldn't snap, since their job was to make sure Cesare was properly welcomed to the academy. Though Helena wouldn't really blame the girl if she did.

"I hope your trip to the island went smoothly. I assume from your name and accent you are from Russia?"
Helena seamlessly inserted into the conversation Bel and Cesare were having, her trademark friendly smile plastered onto her face. And as long as Helena could help it it wouldn't go away any time soon. Helena was relieved to see Bel did her best to also remain polite and neutral.
Helena considered mentioning the obvious design wear Cesare was clad in, or commenting on the luxurious car he had arrived in, but she decided to save those to distract the man if they entered an area in the conversation that neither Bel or Helena wanted to enter. Got to save your trump cards for when you really needed them. Thankfully Helena's bag was from a famous designer too so she could include that in the conversation too.

Cesare nodded along as Bel explained the significance of her day of birth. He was not a Catholic himself, but he decided he'd have to look into this "Twelfth Night." He was always up for a good party.
"Yes! I am from Russia. I was born in Georgia, but I've spent most of my life in Moscow - well, outside of trips and vacations," he replied to Helena, his face lighting up at the mention of his homeland.
"I like your Hermes, by the way," he added off-handedly, nodding to her Birkin bag as they continued towards the school proper.

Walking towards the school with Helena and Cesare, Bel just listened politely as Cesare turned his attention to Helena, glancing somewhat curiously at the girl's handbag and just mentally shrugging at the designer comment.

To be honest, Bel was just not into designer goods and could not identify a Hermes from a Gucci bag even if her life depended on it. The druids had prided themselves on austerity, and while she knew some Beltane's before her had been huge on the idea of luxury that came with being a goddess, she wasn't and could not actually relate to the conversation at all.

Therefore, Bel just kept pace with them and said nothing, she didn't want to seem rude but so far Cesare had only managed to confirm her original estimation of him - spoilt rich kid.
