Kaitlyn was according to her watch supposed to be home five minutes ago. She knew that it was likely that she was going to get scolded for being late but she didn’t want to leave the serenity of the library. Even though the library was the quietest place in school it was rare that there were so little people in the large building. She could literally hear the slight creaking of the bookshelf after heaven only knows how many years of keeping the books off the floor. It was also rare that she could hear or rather see no colors. She could always hear the silver footsteps of the college students trying to cram for whatever test their teachers were giving them the next day.

Her favorite was the green shush the librarian did to those who thought the library was their own place place. She was sort of weird comforted by the orange click of the of the keyboard, her world was a symphony of colors and she could stop and appreciate it when there wasn’t a lot of noise. She was easily overwhelmed by the all the sounds she heard on the day to basis, her least favorite color had to be yellow, mostly because that was the color of her alarm. Every day without a fail yellow sounds brought her out of her semi-peaceful sleep.

She saw the sound of the chair moving before she actually heard it, it was funny how she actually saw the colors before she registered the sound, it was like her brain would hear the sound if it registered the color. She was still keeping track of how many color combinations she could find before she got old, grey and hard of hearing. She didn’t pause in her reading, nor did she look up. She only spared a few second of courtesy and moved her books over to make room for the person that was now occupying the only other chair at her table.

It wasn’t like she had purposely moved the other chairs to the other side of the room...no that would be...mean?
