Galactica Corp Bought Out by Orion Intergalactic
Recent public backlash against Galactica Corp due to the questionable practice of using fully sapient artificial intelligence to run their simulations has caused the company to issue a press conference with reporters from Starlight Observation Station and Manta Carlos.
They are, effective immediately, selling their business assets on the space station and removing themselves from doing business in this galactic quadrant. An entertainment conglomerate called Orion Intergalactic was the buyer and has announced that they will be shutting down the Virtual Reality simulations while they make sure that the new system follows more ethical standards.
Galactica released several Artificial Intelligences to the station authorities, who are in the process of integrating them into society. Some have speculated that Galactica Corp did not release all of the AI in its servers. However, the CEO was unavailable for comment. More on this as it develops.
Recent Murder in the Strip Solved
Late last month the body of a gang leader was found brutally stabbed and beaten with all signs pointing to Citizens Against Evil (informally known as CAE) as the murderers.
After tireless work on the police department's part, a suspect has been arrested and plead guilty to the crime. No other information has been released about the case, nor has the Manta Carlos police department released the identity of the culprit.
The MCPD did release this statement: "After an exhaustive investigation, the police department has determined that the crime itself was not a hate crime, nor was it committed by a member of the Citizens Against Evil, or anyone associated with it. Similarly, we have strong evidence that the crime was not set up in such a way to frame the Citizens for the act itself, but instead simply to direct attention away from the perpetrator themselves."
Despite the MCPD's best efforts, not all citizens are confident in their assertion.
"It's so easy for the police department to sweep this issue under the rug," says Roshir Vaden, an advocate for equal rights. "This shit is even entering our schools, with children getting brutalized. How long before it all explodes?"
The central segment of Citizens Against Evil gave the statement: "We may be against the many Demonic influences our society has given way too, but we're not murderers, and we don't advocate violence. Please know that violence is never our message. Whoever this person or people are who killed that man, they don't represent our organization."
Interdimensional Creatures
The Interdimensional Animals who were released during the Bonfire have since been being rounded up and brought back to their sanctuary.
