Liam would knock on the door, stretching a bit and waiting for someone to answer. He was here to hang out with Whisp, dating was odd and new, so they were still trying to figure it out.

He'd smile when the door opened, though it wasn't Whisp who answered it. "Oh, hello Miss Ehr'Sha," he'd say nicely and politely though a little timidly. "Is uh...is Whisp home?" he felt a bit awkward bit that was normal for him.

"Oh, I'm not interrupting anything am I?" he'd ask, suddenly worried he might be intruding on something.

Huilu did not have steady employment, and as she was away from her clan she could not keep in close touch with those she was leading. So that meant she had a lot of free time outside sculpting, doing paperwork and assisting her chief with the matters of Akt'Anir. And even though Huilu was good at finding ways to bring herself enjoyment she couldn't help but be slightly, well, bored. Which was why she sometimes got perhaps too immersed in the lives of the youngsters that lived under her roof. Huilu never got to grow up in a diverse, but treacherous world like this and thus she was equal amounts fascinated and worried for Eein, Whisp and S'loo.

Huilu had just finished with a statue in her workshop, or otherwise called the garage. Huilu had claimed the space as her own personal place, and she had made the request that Eein, Whisp and S'loo talk to her first before entering. Huilu was a very tolerant and open person, but even she needed peace from time to time.
From the workshop Huilu heard that someone was at the door, and she walked through the house over to it. She was wearing a simple white shirt and jeans, and her hair was tied up in a ponytail. Huilu always had this casual look around the house, unlike outside it. When elsewhere Huilu tried to appear more on the dignified side, she knew that even though no one should judge others based on appearance it mattered in the opinion that was formed of you. She had been raised to think that, and Huilu agreed with it on some level.

Huilu opened the door, at first with a neutral expression, but it turned into a gentle smile when she saw Liam. Ah, yes, Whisp had mentioned the boy was coming over today. Thus far Huilu had a very good impression of Liam, although he was unsure and rather timid he was a gentle soul, and she was happy Whisp had a friend like him. Well, now they were more than that, apparently. Huilu was happy for the two, but as always she was also concerned. But she didn't show it, not if there wasn't a reason to.

"Good day, Liam. Please come in, and please do call me Huilu. There is no need to treat me so formally, we are of equal standing in this house."
Huilu said with her usual kind tone and gestured for Liam to come in.
"Unfortunately Whisp stepped away for a small while. I believe she said she was going to purchase something to eat for you two. But you can wait inside."

To Liam's question Huilu simply shook her head.
"Do not worry, you did not interrupt anything. Rather, your timing was impeccable. I had just finished what I was doing."
Huilu smiled and gestured for Liam to follow her to the kitchen.
"Would you like to have anything? Thanks to my very capable tenants I have most refreshments a young body might crave."
Huilu chuckled as she opened the fridge, it indeed had many kinds of sodas and some juices and other drinks inside it. But nothing alcoholic, Huilu made sure of that.

Liam would follow her in, he'd come here often enough to hang out with Whisp, watch movies and eat snacks. Huilu was kind and Eein was nice enough, he was mildly comfortable hanging out here.

"A soda sounds nice, any of them," he had a mild addiction to foods and drinks with sweet flavor. "I know Whisp doesn't care for sweets but I can't help but like them," he'd say with a slightly embarrassed chuckle. Him and Whisp had recently started dating, they were still figuring out, emotions were such odd things.

"Uh, how are you?" he'd ask, trying to make conversation even though he wasn't great at it. "Oh and thank you," he'd say, realizing he'd perhaps forgotten his manners briefly.

As Liam wished Huilu picked a random soda, based on what colour caught her eye at that moment. It was green, and Huilu handed Liam a Mountain Dew can with a friendly smile.
"Here you are. Personally I am not certain what these drinks taste like, I'm more fond of flavoured sparkling water. It might be silly, but I enjoy the colour of it, and watching the bubbles."
Huilu explained with a chuckle, she was well aware that she was a bit strange. Rather Huilu took certain pride in it, she could offer others a brand new way to look at things and the world.
He knew of Whisp's preferences. That made Huilu smile, it took a certain type od attentiveness and affection to be able to notice and remember such small things.

Huilu appreciated Liam taking the initiative to small talk, she would've eventually started it herself but it was good to see Liam did it himself.
"You are welcome. I'm quite well, our family has been met with misfortune but the skies are clearing and joy returning."
Huilu was happy to say this, things were slowly looking up again and Huilu had many things to rejoice about.
"And how are you, Liam? I also must thank you, it has been a delight to see you be such a good friend for Whisp."
Huilu's tone was genuine, and so was her expression. The young dragons from the community sometimes struggled to blend in with the island's society and culture, having friends was always appreciated and helpful.

He'd open the soda, taking a drink of the surgery liquid, he was mildly addicted to these kind of things. "Misfortune?" he'd ask, suddenly concerned, "uh...anything I can do to help?" He doubted he could do anything, but he was a little worried, especially if Whisp was involved.

"I'm doing good," his cheeks flushed when his and Whisp's friendship, he supposed it was more than a friendship now. "Yeah, I like hanging out with Whisp," he'd take another sip of his soda, "and she's been helping with school stuff."

Liam's blush would fade a bit, but not completely, the wolf boy blushed easily. "I heard her sister is here?" he'd say, trying to keep the conversation going, "she's around our age right?"

Liam's concern was touching, and Huilu had a small gentle smile on her face as she shook her head slightly.
"You can ask Whisp, I am certain she'd gladly tell you if you mention you heard of it from me. I'm sure Whisp needs to talk about the matter as well, and I am sure you are an excellent listener."
This would also be a subject, that could help the two become closer. Listening and supporting each other during times of need created bonds that lasted lifetimes.

The apparent blush on Liam's cheeks was refreshing, it reminded Huilu of the time when she had still been young and all emotions were so new and exhilarating.
"Whisp is quite intelligent, I'm very proud of her. I'm glad you are doing well in school as well."
Huilu smiled, Whisp wasn't her own child but she had known the girl since she was a hatchling and felt as proud of her as Whisp's own parents certainly did.

"Ah, yes, S'loo. She is a sweet girl, she and Whisp are quite close. I hope you will get along as well when you meet."
Or at least Huilu hoped Liam would meet and perhaps befriend S'loo. The girl needed friends her own age, there was a limit to what Huilu could do as an adult and a caretaker.
"I must admit, I am slightly envious of the bond between siblings. I am the only child, and quite lonely in my youth. The ways in our community, they are quite different. Associating is different for young dragons."
Huilu allowed just a small amount of sadness into these words, still keeping a slight smile on her face. There was a meaning for these words, they were a well-masked warning. Whisp and Liam had only recently started this relationship, bit if it continued for long Whisp's family, and Akt'Anir were going to have something to say about it. Even if the community had become more accepting now. And Huilu wanted Liam to be aware of it. Not strongly, not yet, because he and Whisp had the right to enjoy what they had. But Whisp was aware of it, Liam would eventually have to be too.

"Siblings.....," he'd say, sadness in his voice, "yes....siblings are special." He had siblings once, they'd died in the accident with his parents, sometimes it felt like ago, other times it feels like a much more recent event.

He'd nod, "me and Whisp will have to hang out with her sometime," he was a kind young man, who'd happily befriend the newly arrived dragon. "Maybe take her to the movies," he wanted some outings to be dates, but he saw no reason to make some outings a group thing.

The young werewolf would take a big drink of his soda, enjoying the the sugar that was starting to hit his system. "So....uh...me and Whisp...had she...told you?" he knew the dragons were going to poke at him eventually, he was happy it was Huilu doing it.

It was a mean, perhaps even cruel thing to mention siblings to Liam. Huilu realized that after seeinb his reaction. She didn't know anything about his background, but she was able to guess it wasn't a happy one. And now she also knew he most probably had, or had had, siblings. Were they dead? Missing? Perhaps he couldn't get to them? For some reason Huilu leaned towards dead. Huilu had a reassuring look in her eyes, she didn't have words to make Liam less sad, but her heart went to him, as she had lost precious people as well.

It warmed Huilu's heart Liam was willing to befriend S'loo, and he seemed genuine. More often people would be irritated, or bothred by the thought of being friends with the siblings of their special someone.
"That sounds like fun. I hope you will enjoy yourselves."

Liam approached the matter of him and Whisp dating first, and Huilu smiled slightly wider. He seemed nervous, perhaps that was a good thing. And Liam was quite lucky Huilu was the first one to discuss this matter with him. Even she herself was aware that compared to the others to come Huilu was the easiest to talk about this with.
"Yes, my dear. And even if she had not told me I'm certain I would have noticed quite quickly. I'm sharp, you see."
Huilu chuckled, but Liam truly had no idea exactly how sharp Huilu was. Afterwards though Huilu's expression turned tad more serious.
"But do not worry, Whisp is an intelligent young woman and I trust her judgement, and my own. I can see you are a good person, Liam, and this is why I must give you a small warning. We dragons are loyal, protective creatures, and I am no different. But I will not threaten you, or test you, I trust you. But I am certain you will encounter that with the other family members. So please be prepared for that."

His blush increased a bit before finally fading, he'd been trying to get better about it but it wasn't easy. "Yeah I know," he'd say with a nod, "uh....I've been sorta mentally preparing for the other dragons to poke at me." Werewolves weren't weak creatures by any measure but his health made it to where he didn't really have his enhanced strength.

Liam would clear his throat, "uh...any like...cultural things I should know about? I mean...I was going to ask Whisp, but...yeah don't want her to worry." He knew the dragons tended to be fighty, very physical and powerful beings.

The young werewolf would down the rest of his soda, throwing the can away. "I...I like Whisp...so I thought learning about her culture might be a good idea," he was doing his best to help her adjust to things as well, mostly modern things.

"Poking" could have much more meanings in this case than Liam could guess. Huilu was pretty sure no one would try to intentionally aggravate Liam into a fight, but just in case Huilu had told Eein not to fight Liam. Huilu had grown among very strong people and she could tell Liam was not a fighter. At least not a strong one on dragon standards.
"Do not worry, no one will hurt you, unless you are of mentally frail kind. Even normal conversation among dragons can be, hmm, let us say intense."
Huilu didn't want to scare Liam away, but she would be honest with him.

Huilu thought for a moment as Liam asked about any cultural things he should know. Akt'Anir was a society that had cultivated into one of a kind during over 100 000 years, and there were many things to note. But Huilu couldn't possibly list them all, so she would state the obvious.
"For a long time species purity was something required among our kind. Other species are more accepted now, but generations of belief does not disappear quickly. People have inhibitions about relationships with non-dragonic creatures."
This was one of the biggest obstacles Liam and Whisp would have to face if their relationship persisted.
"But as Whisp currently resides outside Akt'Anir not many of our ways reach her, or you. And our chief is openminded, and will not reject your relationship. But if she does, well, I do have confidence in my peacemaking skills."
Huilu smiled, she wanted Liam to know that they had an ally in her. And as long as they were two young people with a genuine emotional connection and healthy relationship Huilu had no reason to interfere.
