Victoria was sore, and tired, and hungry. She had sat here in this cage with nothing to keep her company but him. She still could barely process how things had gotten to this point. Sure things had been going south with derek, she loved him and he loved her, but she wanted him to have better than her. Maybe she pushed him too far, but really it could be a million things.

At first she had protested by not eating, then he had force fed her, and even more, eerily mentioned there was more than one way to keep a person alive when they didn't eat. Then she refused to look at or talk to him. He would come in and tell her about his day, what he had done at school, what he'd eaten for lunch. It was almost as if he seriously thought that this was a normal thing that someone should do. He even made a point of sleeping on the floor next to her in the cage, stating that as long as she was in there he wouldn't sleep on the bed. Then he stuffed her cage full of soft plush toys which really through her for a loop. She wasn't sure if this was his form of love, if he just felt guilty, or if he was a cruel mastermind, but she just knew she had to escape.

She was in what was, essentially, a cage for a large dog. The cage was only kept solid by the mat underneath and so, if she could lift the cage up and slide the mat out! Of course the idea was much easier than the actual execution. The cage was heavy and meant to contain a creature much stronger than she. But she was determined and refused to give up and despite how her arms screamed she managed to life the cage just enough to push the mat out from the bottom, leaving her with just the cage and the floor. But she was a thin and agile girl, and wriggiling her way out was far less difficult than lifting the cage itself.

Now free she wasted no time in escaping. She didn't grab any clothes or things she owned, she didn't waste any time to write a note, not even one that told him to go eff himself, she ust made a break for the door, fully intending to beat it down with her body if necessary. Yet when she grabbed the door knob, it turned, and she laughed hysterically, in a way eerily reminiscent of a mad woman. That idiot had left it unlocked, she was free. Without wasting another moment she threw open the door and bolted down the street like a bat out of hell, not bothering to pay attention to where she was going.

Contrary to what some people might take, Vincenzo Fontana, local criminal and all-around menace, did not, in fact, live in the Underground. Oh, he hunted there and played with the little piggies in their pen, but as a long term thing, he much preferred cleaner environments. Vincenzo lived in a beautiful home, with a lovely garden and a rustic, European house.

He was taking a walk today. He was getting all cooped up inside, working too much on his thesis. The leeches were interesting, but he'd zoomed in on them. He was starting to get a migraine. He strolled through the area's park, arm and eye glamoured to hide his monstrous features, and stumbled upon an odd sight — a girl running around naked.

His eyes practically glinted with mischief. He followed her from a safe distance, and when he was near enough the park gate and to her, he grabbed her by the wrist.

"Hey, hey. Miss! Are you all right?" She wasn't. That was why she was so enticing. Vincenzo shrugged off his coat, wrapping it around her shoulders like a gentleman. He was the very picture of it — pretty blonde hair, soft purple eyes and a smile that could melt weaker women. He'd learned how to play the part of the angel. It was a good bait for the sort of criminal activity he did. "Please, let me help you. Running around in the streets naked at this hour is bad for you. Manta Carlos is dangerous. You don't know what sort of bad men would get you."

Ha. Get it, because he was the bad man in this scenario. The big, bad wolf dressed like the prince. How riveting.

Victoria wasn't sure what to think at first when the man grabbed her. She wanted to scream but her throat was too dry and so she merely watched him in mute horror. Normally his contradictory actions and emotions would have been a red flag for the girl to start running, naked and scared as she may be, but that required her to actually listen to them, and these days, Vicky had done far more leaping than thinking.

She hugged the coat around her body miserably, tears springing to her eyes as the man spoke to her in a soft tone. She was not so trusting as she had been before her....her vacation, knowing now that even the kindest smiles could hide motive and if her best friend was willing to turn on her, than anybody would, and no one was safe.

"Believe me I've learned far more about bad men in the last few months than I ever wanted to know, and none is so dangerous to me than the one I am fleeing. I'm a student at the academy on this island and....I need to get back there, I've been gone for months," she whimpered out however unwisely, her fear and greif interfering with pure common sense.

Vincenzo nodded sympathetically, as if he understood and empathized with her. In truth, it took all of his willpower not to laugh loud and obnoxious. A bad man. Ooh. A bad man hurt her, she was so damaged and broken. She was flinching like a sad, pathetic little bird.

"You poor thing," he said softly. He placed a hand at the small of her back and lead her down the street, to exit the Residential Area. "How did you escape? No, no matter. I'll take you to the police station. We can file a report. They can take you back to the Academy. Listen... You're going to be okay now."

He pulled out a cereal bar from his pocket and offered it to her with a smile. "Here, have this. It'll give you some strength while we walk. I know I don't deserve your trust, but after I bring you to the station, I'll be gone. Is that a deal?"

Victoria laughed weakly, because if she didn't she knew she would cry in greif. She let him lead her on silently without any fight. Frankly he could probably do anything to her and she wouldn't fight, she had just lost the one person in the world she had loved, who had claimed to love her. She was too lost to even care anymore what happened to her.

"It's okay, I don't really have the luxury to not trust you really. But I appreciate the help, even if you do have some sort of motive behind it all," she replied brokenly, her voice was hoarse and weak, the result of not drinking anything for days. She nibbled absently at the vereal bar as they walked, completely out of it and miserable.

Vincenzo didn't have a plan. Of course he didn't. How often did people stumble upon wonderful opportunities like this one? They were nearing an alley. He needed to think fast.

Home? No, no. Ever since Milo moved in, he didn't tolerate any of Vincenzo's shenanigans. An argument already played out in his head. Milo would pick him up and then lecture him about how incriminating this would be, while all the while not actually giving a damn about the girl's safety. He'd tell him later, and receive the proper scolding for it.

That meant his next favorite hiding place. Vincenzo scoped the area, and as soon as they were in front of the alley, he covered her mouth and pulled her in the dark. He licked a stripe up her neck, giving her earlobe a good nibble. "Oh, you already know I was going to do this. There's no need for drama."

He took a step back, and in a flash, the area changed — the black alley turned into a dilapidated warehouse in the shadiest corner of the Underground. Vincenzo pressed her against the wall, and as he stepped back, held her there with telekinesis as he began to set-up the area. He turned on a sole lightbulb and pulled out an operating table from under the crates. Satisfied, he floated her onto the table, strapping her arms and legs down.

Vincenzo pulled a seat, put on his gas mask and sat next to her. "Hi! My name's Toxin. What about you? How are you doing today?" he said, in a voice way too chipper for the situation.

The funny thing was that, all through it Vicky didn't really fight. She couldn't car, she had gone from a cage to being some sort of drugged. Sure she felt like an idiot, but scared? Not really, being scared implied she had something in life worth living for. She awoke slowlyher eyes narrowed as they adjusted to her surroundings.

"Well let's see, my best friend and the man I loved had me locked in a cage for months. I've barely eaten, and definitely haven't drank for days. Now i'm laying here on an operating table after being drugged. I've definitely been better, that's for sure," she commented sarcastically as she looked at him, none of the fear or hesitation one might expect in her eyes, just pure apathy.

Vincenzo rested his cheek on his palm, nodding. The voice modulator on his prototype gas mask made his voice deep and unrecognizable, practically grating, so it was off-putting to have him say, "Uh-huh. I get that, girlfriend. Some guys are just real a-holes."

She was a toughie, huh? Still... He couldn't really rely on her guts. It was all she was running on right about now. He didn't want her to die just yet, but his impromptu plans might just put her over the edge. He put on his rubber gloves and set up a dextrose, piercing her wrist. This should properly hydrate her and add nutrients to her body, giving her a chance to live through pain and possible blood loss.

...Oh, did he mention he wasn't going to use anesthetic? Seeing them in pain was so much more fun!

He cupped her cheeks. "Honey, you're going to be just fine. After tonight, you'll forget all about that bad man." For the most part, because she'll be having nightmares about him instead. He pulled out a marker and drew lines around her chest and her arms.

Vicky didn't really respond much, an eyebrow quirk at how he seemed to be acting more feminine by relating to her boy problems but mainly just watching him. She knew there would be pain eventually, the area screamed dangerous for young girls, she just couldn't summon the energy or presence of mind to care.

In truth the whole scenario was eerily reminiscent of the house fire so long ago. She had been laying there on her bed, more like padding on the floor really. Half out of it, seeing the danger but not caring even as it crept closer to her. Back then Derrick had rused in and saved her, knowing what she knew now perhaps he even caused it.

"So then, what experiments are you planning to do, I see lines, am I to be sliced and diced open?" she asked rather blankly, no emotion registering in her voice or eyes as she spoke.

"You, my dear, are going to take part in my biggest research undertaking." When he was done with his lines, he placed the marker aside and picked up his scalpel. It wasn't clean, and it was kind of rusty, but Vincenzo didn't care about her getting an infection at all. There were antibiotics for that.

He began slicing the lines open with his scalpel. It wasn't too deep, barely half an inch. He was sure the act of slicing wasn't going to be as painful as what was going to follow after. While he was doing his thing, he opted to continue the conversation. "I've recently discovered that the leeches in Manta Carlos Forbidden Forest swim around in a magically irradiated lake. It seems that they've adapted to their environment, and have learned to feed on the little specks of concentrated powers floating around in the water. This has given them unusual biological capabilities. They are able to consume magic, and in some degree, replicate it."

He pulled back. "And that's where you come in. Tonight, you're going to meet my little friends!"

He stuck his finger in the wounds and opened them up to expose the meat, doing this painfully slow. When he was done, he pulled a small container of leeches from his jacket pocket, placing them on top of the meat and letting them eat their fill.
