It was odd being free to explore, to see everything without being lead around and directed by her master. While exploring she'd stumbled onto a volleyball game, the genie would float on in, watching the game. It looked fun and exhilarating, she wanted to join in. Her eyes mostly stayed on a single player, an attractive young woman.

As the game ended she'd float over to the girl. "You were amazing~" she'd say with a smile and giggle, "you were so fast and jumped so high." Soon she was floating around her and bouncing with her words.

"It looked so fun, I wanted to join in but I didn't want to interrupt," she'd stop and slowly turn upside down, her dress falling over her. "What was that game?" she'd giggle and push the dress back up, "oh I'm Blue."

Amara's adrenaline had been rushing for the last hour and a half now. They were up by 2 but in a game like this two good serves is all it would take for the score to be tied up again. It was her day to be a setter and just the pressure it put on her alone made her body tense up. It was times like these where she would draw upon her team and crowd for support but with this only being a practice scrimmage the showing was weak. Thankfully it would all be over soon, it was the last set and all they needed was one more point to win. With rehearsed movement, Amara positioned herself and held the ball in her hand ready to serve. With a powerful jumpserve, the ball launched against her hand toward the back corner of the opposing side. After a small chorus of encouraging words and cheers from friends of the team, the game was considered over and the teams gave their goodbyes.

Usually, she would hang around the team after a game and goof around but today all of them went their separate ways whether it be with boyfriends or best friends Amara was left alone. It was a familiar feeling, one she had grown accustomed to enough to not feel sorry for herself. With a long sigh and stretch, she scooped up her gym bag, not even concerned with changing in the locker room. Though the most peculiar thing interrupted her well thought out plan to escape to her dorm and faceplant into a pillow, a blue ghost..named Blue.

The mixture of compliments and excitement made Amara feel both flustered and excited that somebody enjoyed the game and wasn't just there to support someone on the team. When it hit her that the ghost had no clue what the game even was she felt inclined to enlighten them.

"It's called Volleyball. Our team usually practices with a few other teams before school starts back up....Oh! My names Amara by the way. A pleasure to meet you Blue."

She'd offer them a handshake, knowing a few ghosts who were capable of such an act. "Are you new to the school?"

Blue would flip back around taking the hand and gently shaking it. "Oh Amara is such a pretty name," she'd say with a smile and giggle, "pretty name for a pretty person." The genie was beaming with excitement and happiness at meeting someone new.

"Yes, yes, yes," she'd say in quick succession, "I just enrolled and will be starting classes soon." She was again bouncing in the air, having released Amara's hand. "The school and the island seem so interesting, I want to explore and see it allllllllllllll."

She'd come to rest, floating in her back, face close to Amara's. "Are you a student?" she'd ask curiously, "maybe we'll have classes together?"

Blue's enthusiasm brought a giant smile to her face. She loved seeing recent immigrants excited about the place she was fortunate enough to always call home. She dropped her duffle bag to the floor, realizing she would be here a bit longer than she thought, and shook her head to the ghost's question.

"Yeah, I'm enrolled in the college not too far from here. Are you in college as well? If not he chances of us having a class together are next to none." She chuckled a bit "I graduated from the twelfth grade a while back now."

She mused over how different life was back then. It was more structured but strangely looser as well. Less responsibility was placed on her and now she had all the freedom in the world, along with the tass that came with it. It would only be a matter of time before college was over and she would be off to Med-School. Just thinking about it made her both excited and nervous.

Shaking away the unnecessary thoughts she focused back on Blue " Though given how often practice this way I'll be on campus a lot."

"What's college?" she'd ask genuinely as she slowly floated around the other girl. "Is that a higher class? A lower one?" she'd giggle, "I'm in something called remedial." She'd stop, floating upside down, her dress falling over her until she pushed it up, giggling again. "School seems really silly, but also really fun."

She'd start bouncing about in the air again. "Can I play with you? It looks so fun, bouncing the ball around and jumping after it." She'd come to rest, sitting cross legged in the air in front of her.

"Are a lot of the players as pretty as you?" she'd ask curiously, "you're prettier than the ones I saw you playing with."

Amara couldn't help but tilt her head at Blue's question. It shocked her sometimes at how little knowledge people could possess but given that they were new to the island she couldn't assume they knew much about the collegiate system here or what universal studying even was. After Blue had mentioned they were in remedial it became much clearer to her what she was dealing with. She opened her mouth ready to explain how the school system of the island worked, something the staff should've done but it wasn't a big deal when Blue started asking her more questions.

While Amara tried her hardest not to giggle at Blue she couldn't help after seeing their mannerisms. It was cute. Reminding her of the strange stuff her baby sister would do when she was a baby. Amara nodded politely "If you want to play there are always students available it feels like. I usually only play with the rest of the girls. If you wanted you could catch us during warm-up before practice and we could show you some stuff." Amara was speaking to Blue but was thinking out loud of a way she could agree to help the new student. Keeping the sport of Volleyball alive on campus was also a task for the various teams.

While she was expecting Blue to follow up with more questions about Volleyball the Genie took a strange turn to her appearance. While the comment was quite forward it made her heart skip as she was extremely flattered by the compliment. Expecting Blue to understand social cues was also something she would have to put to the side. She could feel her cheeks flush but her dark skin hid the blood in her cheeks. "U-Um I think all the girls are pretty. Stuff like that is usually up to the person."

Her hair was tied up but she instinctively reached for where it would have been if it were not. It was her go-to when she was thinking " If you give me your dorm number I should be able to call you to let you know when wee practicing."

As they spoke Blue would shift into their male form. "Yesssssss, I'd love that," he'd chuckle, "your group was amazing out there, I'd love to learn from you." He was still slowly bouncing about as they talked, he was enjoying this, being out and about, meeting new people. "I've never played sports before really, or went to school," he was upside down again, "I want to see and try everything."

He'd tilt his head when her cheeks flushed looking at her curiously. "Yes, they were all pretty....but I think you stood out," the genie said this all with relative innocence, though he did find her physically attractive. "And you seem so nice."

"Oh yes, and...I have one of those funny talking devices too," reaching into his pocket he'd pull out a simple school issued flip cell phone. "I'm still learning how to use it...but of you put your number in I can send you those messages. Texts right?"

Amara was wary about giving someone she had just met her number. Student or not there were some rather strange individuals on the island and one couldn't be too careful. So in lieu of giving Blue her cellphone number she dug out a pencil and paper from the side pocket of her duffle bag and wrote her rooms phone number. " I'm not privy to giving my cellphone number out to anyone but if you call my room number and leave a message me or my pet will answer for you."

She'd offer Blue the piece of paper and if they took it to return her pencil to the appropriate slot in her bag. It wasn't strange for her to carry a notepad and pencil in her gym bag. Times like these where she had to write something were actually very common. While bending down to put her pencil back she also dugout her letterman jacket to place over her body. A shining example of her accomplishment in volleyball the jacket was embroidered with a nice number of awards.

She usually carried it as a conversation piece with other teams but found herself carrying out more and more often on her regular school days. It drew attention and for someone like her who wasn't so aflush with friends the attention was a nice pleasure for her. " If I may ask where are you from Blue?"

"You're pet can answer the phone?" they'd ask curiously, "they must be real smart." They'd giggle and shift back to female. "Is it a dog? Or maybe a cat?" she was enjoying this conversation, it was normal and calm. "Are they magical? I heard some of the animals here are magical in nature," as always she was excited and bubbly, everything on the island was new to her.

She'd accept the paper, bouncing up and down excitedly. "Thank you~" she'd probably need to check in with her master about all of this, bit that was a worry for future Blue, right now she was just going to enjoy the convention.

"I don't know," she'd say with a giggle. "I'm a genie, I always assumed genies aren't born like people are," she'd say this all with her usual cheerful demeanor, even though the things she said were a bit sad. "I know I'm sorta older than I look, but I hear that's normal here."

"Being old and youthful is supremely common here." Amara would lean in a bit "Sometimes I feel like such a baby in comparison to some of the number people have reached. I can only imagine having that much time behind me.....anyway. I never assumed you were born I was just more curious how you got to the island. Usually, people come from somewhere but I wouldn't be surprised to hear you popped into existence."

Amara would cover her mouth and laugh a bit. If her years on the island had instilled anything into her it was that no matter what you think is impossible someone has probably already done it or it has simply not yet happened . Inevitability was as much a trait of the island as its large infrastructure and diverse population. For a mental nut like her keeping track of all the new things could become overwhelming.

People popping into existence was something she had heard about many times in gossip and lab conversations. It was almost old fashion that she was born the old fashioned way....or at least in human terms. Vampires that could breed was as common a trope as she would have liked. As if she needed to be any more different from people.
