For the first time since losing Clarisse, Storm took off her wedding band.

She stared down at the gold ring she held in her hand. There was a certain sense of guilt that arose in the action, despite knowing that this was what Clarisse wanted. She wanted Storm to move on with her life. To have a life beyond her.

Storm was trying, but it was still not easy. It never would be, would it?

But she was trying. And tonight, she was going on her first real ‘date’ with someone other than Clarisse.

Haru was picking her up at her cottage. Technically, they did have a small ‘date’ on the cruise ship, when they had dinner together, but…there was very little to do for the two adults on board the student cruise, so they agreed to have their first ‘real’ date back on the island.

Storm took a breath, before grabbing a chain from her bedside drawer and putting it through the ring—making it into a necklace. She would wear the ring around her neck—a sign that she was moving on, but would not forget her first love, either.

Storm slid the necklace under her shirt, adjusting her collar. She had put on a white collared shirt, a black vest, and black pants…and now that she looked at herself in the mirror, she realized she looked like a butler. Goddamn it.

She started digging into her closet, trying to decide what she should put on instead. Maybe a plaid shirt? Something more casual? Or would that be too casual? Damn it. Haru was going to come any second.

Storm quickly changed shirts to a red, plaid button up and waited.

Haru was taking her usual route to Storms place humming a happy little tune from back home. Today had been a good day so far as she had gone shopping for a few trinkets in the city, and had checked on her mistress to make sure that she would be okay alone for the night. She had been spending a lot of time with Hazel recently ever since her parents had stepped away and now she was the pseudo parent until their return. Despite that, she didn't tell her the reason why she couldn't attend to her today, Storm. Well, it was more about hanging out with Storm then the dating aspect of it.

Yes, they had shared a dinner on the cruise but it wasn't as formal as she would've liked. Earth dating seemed pretty similar to how it was done on Mes.However dating on earth was far more open then on Mes. The plethora of options made it a struggle to figure out what to do exactly. So, in her sea of options, she hadn't chosen a location and decided that freefalling it would be more entertaining.

As the lights of Storms house could be seen in the distance Haru took off her hat. She was wearing a black fedora, small leather jacket and black pants. Under her unzipped jacket she had a black shirt that read " I Don't Fall.I Do Random Gravity Inspections". The shirt was a V-neck and her bust pushed the words "I Don't Fall." More prominently out into the world but Haru didn't mind it. She never liked dresses, that was something her mother tried to force on her.

Even though this was a date and most people would feel some sort of nervousness Haru was relatively calm. She hadn't dated in a long time or ever due to her past occupation so this was more of an exciting new experience because it was real. Although she felt fine she made sure to remember that this was a much harder ordeal for Storm. She had loved and lost and that was harder to bounce back from. Haru was still just proud that Storm had said yes and had the strength to even take her offer into consideration.

Haru walked up to the front door and raised her hands to knock when she heard shuffling in the house. She felt inclined to look through the window and make sure Storm was okay but knew that those sort of actions would be pushing it. Instead, Haru gave a few simple knocks and stepped back waiting for an asnwer.

Storm inhaled a sharp breath when she heard the knock at the door. Her nerves were high, but it wasn’t all anxiety. She was comfortable with Haru, and excited to spend time with her. And she was taking a huge step, too—while it was a difficult one, it was an important one.

“Coming!” Storm called out as she hurried to get her shirt buttoned up. She checked herself in the mirror one more time, and then made her way to the door. One more deep breath, and then she opened it up. There was Haru, looking really nice in her leather jacket. And judging by Haru’s playful shirt, switching from the more casual plaid shirt from the butler look was the right choice.

“Hey Haru,” she said as she ran a hand through her hair. Trying to be all casual even thought she was sure Haru could sense her nerves. Haru was observant--noticed the little things. Storm knew she couldn't hide her emotions from her.

“I really like that jacket on you…”

The response set Haru's aggressive nature at ease a bit. In reality, it couldn't be helped too much with her.She was always prone to being overprotective with things she needed or cared for in some manner. Some back home would say it was her least charming, and dangerous quality..Haru maintained her usual smile and hummed a little tune as she waited for Storm to open the door.Haru maintained her usual smile and hummed a little tune as she waited for Storm to open the door.

When the door finally did open her closemouthed smile shot up into a full display of all her teeth and slight chuckling as she received her compliments on the jacket. Haru took note of the mannerisms Storm was displaying, nervousness. It was a reasonable response to being on a date after so long, so Haru tried her best not to make a large deal of it.

"Thanks, I wasn't sure if it would be cold so I carried it just in case. By the end of the date, I'll probably have it off."

Haru pored over her jacket as she spoke before looking over Storms attire. It was somewhat weird seeing Storm in a more casual look. Normally Haru had seen her dressed up in athletic attire or her work clothes. Though she guessed the same could be said for her. Her usual outfit was a butlers outfit with gloves......

"The casual look on you is really charming dear. Maybe you could show me where you got the shirt from another time."

Haru took the hand that was running through storms hair and looked at her. Mostly she was doing it to calm Storms nerves as fidgeting never helped, at least for her, but a small fraction of her just really wanted to hold her hand.

"So, do you have any idea what you want to do.Since youve live here longer im gonna pawn off the pressure of a location on you."

Haru giggled holding the black fedora in one hand and Storm in another.

Despite the nerves of her first date with someone other than Clarisse, Storm found herself a bit more at ease when she saw Haru’s smile. There was something calming about Haru—a trait Storm greatly appreciated in her.

Storm glanced down at her clothes, adjusting her collar a little.

“I, ah, realized I was over dressed and threw this on quick, I have to admit…”

Then Haru took her hand, making her unable to engage in her nervous little ticks like fixing her collar or pushing her fingers through her hair. She gave Haru’s hand a little squeeze.

Storm then laughed when Haru asked what they would do, rubbing at the back of her neck.

“Just because I’ve been here longer doesn’t mean I get around much…”

She then turned around to lock the door to her cottage.

“I thought maybe we could keep it simple: a walk through the woods and then dinner afterwards? If that’s alright with you.”

Haru made an overly dramatic sigh of relief at Storm's word and then stood back straight with a smile. She was happy that Storm didn't expect to be overly dazzled by some venue. Haru wasn't super sure if Storm was a drinker and would go for a bar. Thankfully she could toss that plan out the window and just do what she normally did for fun, walk.

" I was scared you were gonna get me drunk and take me to Karaoke or something else horribly embarrassing. At least on a walk, I can't make a fool of myself and I can hide my embarrassment in the bathroom."

Haru was joking of course but she thought maybe feigning nerves once in awhile would make Storm feel more comfortable. She returned the light squeeze of Storms' hand and led her onto the path in the woods. The noises gave a tranquil, mellow tone to the world around her and strangely made talking feel more personal to Haru.

"So, we have known each other for a few months now but I haven't been fair in our relationship. I know so much about you....Though I hope that didnt come off as stalkish as it sounded."

A small giggle broke up her speech

"But seriously do you have any questions for me? I'm pretty much an open book to most people save my personal fetishes. Even I got hold some things secret you know?"

Storm laughed when Haru teased about the possibility of them ending up at karaoke hammered.

“Nooo, no, definitely not my style. I suppose I don’t mind hanging out in quiet bars once in a while—though I don’t really drink--but loud and crowded has never been for me.”

And so they headed into the woods, holding each other’s hands. It was a warm, comfortable gesture to Storm, while the familiar forest around them soothed her nerves. Her ears perked up when Haru offered to tell Storm more about herself. Like she had read her mind—she was comfortable with Haru, but felt like she knew so little about her.

“Alright, well…” Storm tilted her head, considering a moment before she continued.

“Tell me about your home planet. It’s, ah…Mes, right? What’s it like there?”
