Alex grunted, pressing against Judas, trying to shrug Judas' strong grasp on his skull, the hand covering his eyes so he could not see.
He slammed his staff down to the earth, wrenching Judas down with it, though Judas did not let go of the staff or Alex's head.
Judas growled, spitting at Alex.
"Your power...is impressive, older brother..."
Alex grunted once more, as energy from the earth began to collect within his staff.
"Enough...Tell me...the answer to my question, Judas. Why?!"
Judas chuckled, speaking in that eloquent voice of his, despite their struggle.
"I would dance with the devil in the night, sacrifice friends and kin. I would surrender my soul without fight and let the world fall into desolate din. I would sing with Satan, beneath the swaying trees of horrible things as our voices carried upon Boreas breeze. And of pain and rage, primal things. And of the calming apocalypse we would bring. If I could do it, damn, I’d kill. Can you not see me staring from Hell’s windowsill? And bring the world to end, nil, zero, emptiness, a yawning, void. An eternal reminder of the world I destroyed. I would dance with the devil in the cool moonlight. I would bring upon your souls the greatest damning blight."
Judas paused, chuckling.
"But that is impossible, Satan be damned. Because the devil is only alive in the souls of man."
Alexander's eyes widened underneath Judas' grasp on his head.
"What do you mean, dammit?! Enough! Enough!"
The older Anderson grit his teeth, the energy that had been collecting in his staff suddenly surging out at the hand that was holding onto it.
Lightning bolts of energy began to stream and slam out of the staff into Judas' left arm, causing him to let out an unholy scream.
