Taking place April 20th
Shay had meticulously set up her and Fitz's wedding day. Even with all the struggles, the way they'd had to move things back, jail, the murder. Even when Shay had wondered if things would work out if one of them would walk away. Neither ever did.

And now they were standing together, their closest friends and family members gathered around. A surprisingly large wedding, despite what Shay had said about being lowkey.

Shay was nervous. She could feel her heart in her throat. She focused only on her soon to be husband and not everyone watching. Bearing your heart was hard enough when you were alone.

She was dressed ornately in white and gold, decorated in a short trail and a corset.

Shay had worked and worked on her vows, read them every night until they were ingrained in her head as saying 'hello,' but when she turned, took Fitz's hands in hers, and met his eyes, every word she'd practiced was lost on her tongue.

A second stretched on like a lifetime, and Shay still couldn't recall what she'd meant to say, so she went off the cuff, stuttering at the start of her sentence.

"Fitz," she laughed, airy, and ran a hand through her hair. "I had so much I wanted to say, but I look at you, and it's all lost. There aren't words to describe how deeply I feel for you.

"You are... by far one of the best men I've ever known. You make me want to be a better person; you make me believe I can manage and... and change. With you, I know I have a chance to be the person I want to be, and you'll stand by me, just like you always have."

She looked down to compose herself and breathe a little. Her smile was less strained when she met his eyes a second time.

"I won't lie and say I'm not terrified but with you, now, holding your hand — Let whatever come may. We'll get through it."

She gave his hands a little squeeze.

Fitz was, for once in his life, wishing that the anxiety in his gut would go the fuck away. Normally, a healthy level of anxiety helped him do better, make fewer mistakes, because he was on the lookout for them. But today, in all honesty, he just wanted the damn butterflies to go away and let him be calm for an hour.

Whereas Shay had spent all this time preparing her vows, Fitz knew he was best left flying by the seat of his pants. He felt Terry at his back, being a fuck as usual but at least putting on a pretty face for him. His tuxedo was the same style as the one he'd worn to the Masquerade last year, but obviously fit in with the color scheme they had chosen. No hat for this occasion and his hair actually combed and styled. He looked entirely respectable for once.

He clasped Shay's hands in his own, smiling at her as she fumbled her way through her vows. Fitz's fingers ran across her knuckles. He didn't know how true what she was saying was. Him being one of the best men she'd ever known. But it felt good to hear. Then it was his turn, and he inhaled slowly to prepare himself.

"Shay, yer the... God, I think you might be the smartest bet I ever made. I came to Manta Carlos cause I had me eyes on opportunity. I never thought..." he paused, kind of glancing out at the crowd a bit. Far more people than he'd imagined.

"I never thought I'd be standing where I am, gettin' married to a beautiful woman who makes me pine for something more than the simple, lackadaisical life I've always lived."

Fitz's grip on Shay's hands tightened a bit. He couldn't say all what he wanted to, not here in the open where people could hear. Everything he had done, working towards making this tavern a reality, building up contacts, thinking more like a crime boss and less like a burglar. All of it because Fitz couldn't give up the criminal life if he wanted to. And Shay wouldn't ask him to. But...

"I promise, lass. As long as ye'll have me, I'm gonna give you the security and stability you deserve. I love you."

The officiant said his piece about man and woman becoming one and gave the couple permission to kiss. Fitz leaned down what little he had to and let his lips meet Shay's. He heard some stifled chuckle from behind him; Terry no doubt. He'd have to punch him later.

OOC:

The wedding is in full swing! No posts or rapid firing is necessary here. The wedding is large, with good food and red velvet cake. The music alternates between upbeat and softly romantic.

Reee if I forgot to tag anyone, feel free to tag people. Or just give them the thread. There's a lot of people here, okay. It's a huge wedding.

Angelo had not expected to be a father. He'd always liked kids, but the idea of dating, of relationships, of having little babies--all of that had seemed very far away. He'd wanted to focus on his job, on having a real career, but somehow a family had found him. Not the kind of family anyone would have expected, but a family just the same, with more kids than most people would find reasonable.

Nine. Nine kids adopted, and now one of them was getting married.

Angelo had already gone ahead and preemptively bribed the photographer to send him the photos along with Shay, made sure his suit was fit perfectly (he'd definitely gotten bigger since he last wore it formally), and gone right ahead and made sure that Shay wouldn't be dying anytime soon.

That last one was a bit of a doozie, and one he was really hoping Shay wouldn't notice. He'd already lost his ability to recognize other undead, but he had no idea if other undead would still recognize him. He hoped so.

Walking her down the aisle seemed surreal. The father daughter dance was like something else entirely. She didn't say anything, and he was pretty sure she hadn't actually noticed, so...

He'd gotten away with it scott free, in other words. Not when she got back--that'd give the game away no matter what--but at least for her wedding, Shay could continue on having a good day, without having to worry about anything at all.

That was good. He wanted it to stay that way.
