The passage of time went unnoticed as Devias was basking in the starlight. The moon and the stars were brilliant objects to him. Back in the void, those little, flickering lights were created by skilled artisans, usually those who were bearing the essences of light or fire. They were brilliant, but even the most skilled of them could not compete with this world's natural stars. The rooftop gave him an unobstructed view of them. The moment he arrived, he thought to himself that he could stay for hours just staring up at the sky, and so he did.
When he was ready to call it a night, it was already midnight according to his watch. He'd been up there for over four hours now. Indeed, it was time to go. He took the scenic route back to the dorms, a path that he was by now familiar with enough to walk while having a book opened in front of him. It made him prone to bumping into people, but this route was one of the lesser traveled ones, so he could afford to let his guard down.
But other than reading from his book, he would also sometimes take out a pencil and write down details of his observations, both from when he was stargazing and the ideas he had that popped into his head after that exposure. Just a few of his observations was the fact that the stars shifted quite erratically every night. They hadn't changed their position from each of the other stars, but it was like his point of observation had changed, leading him to believe that this island relocates every so often. Perhaps that was the reason why this place was hidden so well from the greater part of the planet.
Still engrossed in his reading and note-taking, he hadn't noticed the other soul that he was about to crash into.
