As Ava laughed at what she perceived to be a mistake Vlad just squinted his eyes and raised an eyebrow. His memory nor English was so bad that he had got that wrong right? If it was he'd have a lot to reconsider given his luck in passing English classes. " You said sound and then mentioned color green. Not the color green but just color green." He wasn't taking an arrogant tone nor was he trying to belittle her. In fact, he pointed it out with a mentorial inflection in his voice. Soft corrections came off nicer to him then emotional ones.

" But even with all else aside your music taste does come as a surprise. It's not every day I find people who listen to country music in the city limits. Though I must say I've always considered an instrument as apart of the human body and soul as much as my arm and legs. Without the physical element affecting the instrument, nothing is produced...Maybe instruments alone
are enough to remind me of the miotic phase."

Vlad would make a quick note on the sides of his paper about the connection of music to science being a topic to explore. Maybe if the topics of school were more aligned with his own personal interest it'd be easier for him to get through the thick walls of texts these textbooks like to throw at him.

"Yeah yeah, but it's still funny!"
Ava claimed, recovering from her laughter and wiping away a tear that had formed at the corner of her eye. Ava was as easily amused as she was angered and sometimes she really appreciated that quality about herself. Extreme emotions could be a pain but in situations like this they made her feel better.
"But now I kinda wanna google if there actually is a band or song called colour green or not."
Ava added with a snicker.

Vlad was starting to realize stuff about his own learning and that made Ava grin in triumph. Ava herself had also struggled with studying early in her life; she had a short attention span when it came to things she wasn't interested in and on top of that she was homeschooled, so she had to do most of the studying on her own. So, Ava had found ways to make it fun and easy for herself. Hopefully Vlad would find a way to do that as well.

"I've never really thought about instruments much, aside from liking listening to them. I can't play any and honestly aren't interested in learning."
Ava commented, and then pointed at a certain part of her own notes, where she had drawn a picture of a cell dividing.
"Doesn't this kinda look like a guitar? With that 8 looking shape."
Ava remarked with a small grin.

"No not really." said Vlad rather plainly as Ava tried to draw some similarity between cell division and a guitar. His tone carried an unforgiving harshness to it but his face remained calm and complacent as he followed her finger over the structure. However, beneath the layer of his outer appearance, Vlad was internally amusing himself by prodding at Ava. Of course with a little bit of thought, one could make some form of connection between the strings of a guitar and the splitting of the cells but the question was why would he? Instead, he had the alternative of watching this ginger girl with a lively personality potentially sizzle at the idea that he was not in agreeance with her.

Why he was enjoying this you ask? Because it was something he rarely graced himself with and loved the experience. Many of the monks had only grown calmer over the years or at best could suppress their emotions into a weapon with a dull edge. The visceral bite of people in his day to day only dwindled as he got older. Vlad would begin to dig in his bag and pull out another sheet of paper for him to write on. On the very first line in deep red ink he would write Ava thinks the anaphase looks like a guitar??? Notes that jogged his memory were the ones that worked for him in the monastery

" I personally don't see a guitar at all, though..." he went silent as he thought for a few seconds " It does remind me of a theory my master mentioned about essence." The latter half of his sentence was more aimed to himself as he wrote down a second note on the fresh piece of paper. The separation of positive and negative essence creates a whole new force that may be applied? The question was one he would look into later on for sure.

"Well maybe your dumb brain that learns by hearing doesn't see what my smart visually learning brain sees, punk."
Ava challenged with a grumpy tone and stuck her tongue out at Vlad in a childish gesture. Yes, she knew it was stupid to let herself get annoyed by something like this, but Ava was just a person who got easily annoyed and when it wasn't in a situation where her well-being depended on it she didn't bother trying to control it. It just added an edge to Ava's personality that was suitable for social interactions, or so she had noted. People had fun around a person who expressed their emotions clearly and often loudly and that was exactly what Ava was and did.

Vlad even went ahead and wrote down Ava's observation and she frowned, giving Vlad's shoulder a light shove.
"You're just gonna rub it in my face, huh? Work with me here! I'm just trying to give you some ideas, dude."
Ava huffed in frustration, but grin was once again tugging at her lips a bit. Ava had noticed that her personality often complimented those who were serious and could give her straight, deadpan answers. It was fun having conversations with people like that, like with Destra. Sure, they made Ava feel like an idiot sometimes, but she herself knew she wasn't an idiot so it didn't matter in the long run.

"As long as it reminds you of something then I don't care what."
Ava stated and crossed her arms loosely, watching Vlad write his notes. She had no idea what they were about though, and she kind of wanted to ask. But if Ava started making questions about it then they might steer away from biology. Ava would just ask later.
"If that reminds you about theory about essence of whatever then what does the next stage of division remind you of?"

Vlad looked down at the textbook to remind himself of what the next step in mitosis was. He skimmed the page with his figure before stopping on telophase. After a brief viewing of the process, he tried to pair it to something in his everyday life but nothing immediately came to mind. "Nothing really....might take me a bit but I'm sure I could find something...What about yo- Oh no wait I know what it reminds me of. Its kinda like how I.....nevermind. What about you, what comes to mind?"

Vlad had recalled he mentioned essence a second ago without realizing that he wasn't among the company for that kind of talk. The knowledge he had gained on essence and how it can affect the physical world blessed him with the ability to keep himself safer from physical harm. The formation of a nuclear envelope was the closest he could think to that.

"Oh I know it must remind you of a broken guitar string." He gave a coy smile.

Vlad was getting into this and Ava mentally patted herself on the back. He was a surprisingly sassy guy but it was all in good fun anyway. But when he suddenly stopped explaining whatever he was about to say Ava frowned a bit.
"Now you left me curious! Come on, try to explain it. Does it have to do with that essence thing you said earlier? Are you learning some special martial arts or techniques or something?"
Ava had never really studied anything like that herself and was mainly interested in maintaining her own unique style, but that didn't mean she wasn't interested.

"First you act like a damn robot and now you give me lip every other sentence. Make up your mind, dude!"
Ava said with an annoyed huff and gave Vlad a light slap to the back of his head, something she did with her friends a lot.
"Learning through sound isn't even my thing, move on from the guitar. Sheesh!"

Vlad would've given a dismissive wave at Ava prodding to have him explain essences. While it was against his better nature to not spread his philosophy he needed to be selfish right now and try to remain on task. He had a whole school year to regale her with the tales of Ovanessa and so forth. Though he did find it curious how she knew it involved martial training. Either she could read minds or was a really good guessed.

As Ava ranted at him about being a robot he simply raised an eyebrow truly not understanding what she was talking about. Were it not for the smack to the back of his head he may have raised the other one as she told him to stop mentioning the guitar. Vlad's face remained calm despite her raving and simply shrugged his shoulders.

"I've been acting the same way since the beginning and you were the one who brought up the guitar. Sorry if the way I speak got you all worked up. Here I'll even forget you ever said it." Vlad would take a red pen and mark over his note on the guitar from earlier. His tone as mellow as a waveless sea and his smile as polite as ever.

It felt like they took a step back when Vlad erased the guitar remark from his notebook, and Ava fought back the urge to pout like a kid. She forgot that not all people realized her raving and nagging was just half-serious most of the time. Ava needed to adjust for people like that.
"I brought up the guitar for you, dude! But I won't forget it, I carry a grudge, ya know."
Ava grinned, just to make it extra sure she was joking (well, in this case, since Ava really did carry a grudge), and nudged Vlad with an elbow.

"But if guitars won't do the trick for ya then let's move on! You see here..."
With that Ava kept teaching Vlad to the best of her abilities, which weren't shabby at all. Ava had an affinity for teaching with her tough love method. And when the two parted after an hour or so Ava made a mental note to pester Vlad in the future too, just to make sure he kept studying and trying. She wanted him to get that 70 from their next test.
