Brendon sat at the dining room table once more, now within his white and ruffled
sleepwear. His mother had cleansed the textbooks of that man’s scent and now
their house was… was truly free of his scent. He stared down at his notebook and
at his writing and his equations. His mother had taught him enough of the lesson
that he was now doing the problem solving on his own. His mother sat on the
couch with her own notebook and pen in hand. She was writing her stories…

The fresh air of outside had helped somewhat… but the relief he had felt had only
been temporary. He could feel the confinement once more, as he sat at the table.
He didn’t struggle as much with his assignment. He understood what he was doing
and solved each equation given to him. At the end, his mother would check his
work and grade him.

It was something… to keep his mind off of things…

And he appreciated that.

Joshua arrived at Brendon’s home and knew that it was close to suppertime. It would have been better if he came afterwards... but Joshua was too impatient to wait any longer.

He approached their front door and gently knocked. Brendon’s book was safely within his hand as well as the basket he intended on giving his mother.

Anticipation was building within his chest... and he silently hoped all of this would flow smoothly. He knew Brendon would be reluctant to see him again but he had to try and amend things between them.

Unexpectedly, there was a firm knock on their front door. Brendon’s breath
caught in his throat and his wide eyed gaze instantly riveted to their door. His
mother looked mildly puzzled and offered him a quick smile before she placed her
book and pen down. She stood up and went to answer the door.

Brendon’s heart began to pound with anticipation. He tensed and straightened,
but quickly realized… as his mother opened the door… that the angle he was at
completely blocked his view of who was on the other side. The anxiety within him
caused him to push his chair back and slowly stand… quivering in place and
gripping his pencil tightly.

The moment he smelled him, the moment he heard his deep voice greeting his
mother, his eyes immediately burned with tears. He fought against them and
trembled in place, his heart beating hard and firmly… making him slightly out of
breath. Yearning and want built within him, burned him like fire.

Joshua closed his eyes and listened to Brendon’s mother making her way towards the front door. He needed to remain in control... and keep himself level headed. It would be difficult with Brendon so near... and his scent so powerful...

But this was the only chance he would have to enter their home again. Miss Autumn would grow suspicious if he arrived more than once and Brendon’s reactions to him might cause her to eventually deny his presence.

Joshua tensed and had to fight with himself to keep his gaze on Brendon’s mother. But the boy’s overpowering and delicious scent was causing him to strain so greatly.

“Good Afternoon Miss Autumn,” Joshua spoke, but immediately looked in the direction of Brendon the moment he heard his chair moving... but the door was blocking his view completely...

“I brought you both gifts to officially welcome you to the neighborhood,” he looked to her and gave her a faint smile. “I hope I’m not interrupting anything.”

“I brought you both gifts to officially welcome you to the neighborhood,” Mr. Ardel
was telling his mother and Brendon was having to fight back his emotions. H…How
could he bring him down so swiftly…? Why did he feel this way? “I hope I’m not
interrupting anything.
”

“No, no, it’s fine,” His mother told Mr. Ardel with friendly ease and then was
holding the door open for him once more. She briefly glanced back toward him,
to show that she was aware of his struggles…

She thought that his senses, his smell, had been heightened because of his
puberty… and that was why he had such trouble around Mr. Ardel. Brendon’s
heart began to pound harder… and he weakly slumped back into his chair… his
wide eyes riveted on the doorway.

And then he was struck with so much feeling, so much powerful emotion, the
moment he saw Mr. Ardel emerge. He felt physically struck, his heart beating
wildly. His eyes still burned… and his face paled. He… He couldn’t look away.
He couldn’t do… anything.

No, no, it’s fine,” Miss Autumn returned with a warm smile and he didn’t even have to ask to come in. The woman was already graciously allowing him into her home again. It made him angry... that she was so careless. She needed to protect Brendon much better than this...

Would she allow any ‘charming’ individual into her home without care for her own safety and the safety of her son?

Joshua stepped inside, but kept his expression void of his true emotions. It was unreasonable for him to feel that way because in the end it gave him the opportunity he needed to see Brendon. But even that did not change his feelings on it.

Brendon needed to be protected. That was important to him...

His heart squeezed painfully the moment he saw Brendon... because he knew that he couldn’t have him. Instead... he had to resist... and fight everything inside himself...

His gaze softened... as he stared at him... and the longing he felt for him was revealed in his eyes. It felt like an eternity since he had last seen him...

Brendon looked as if he was straining, but Joshua couldn’t resist moving closer to him.

“I brought this for you...” Joshua told him softly... and held the book out to him. He knew that he had to explain further... but... it was difficult to concentrate.

Mr. Ardel began toward him immediately and Brendon tensed, his breathing
slightly shallow. He could smell him… he was filling their house with his scent
again. It was overpowering. His presence was overpowering. The feelings
inside of him only intensified the closer he became to him.

“I brought this for you…,” Mr. Ardel spoke to him slowly… and held out a book.
Brendon’s gaze was riveted on him… as he struggled and remained tense. But,
the moment his mother walked up behind him… his gaze quickly moved to her.

His mother stepped into place beside him to take a look at the book being offered
to him. Brendon’s heart tripled in speed and he quickly reached forward to grasp
onto the hardcover book called ‘Fell’.

“T-Thank you, Mr. Ardel,” He returned, his gaze lowered and staring at the picture
on the book. H-He instantly recognized that it was… was the sequel to his book
The Sight.

Joshua’s gaze hardened somewhat as Miss Autumn came into place beside him and he immediately stepped away to give her ‘room.’ He still felt the same about others touching him or even standing beside him too close...

But it was different with Brendon... it had been right from the beginning.

“T-Thank you, Mr. Ardel.”

Joshua stared down at Brendon and smiled softly. “You’re very welcome...” he mumbled, and wanted to lose himself... to become completely distracted with him.

But he was aware of his mother and knew that such a want was impossible...

“This, Miss Autumn, is for you and your home,” he told her politely and turned towards her to give her the basket. He hoped that it would occupy her attention momentarily...

“You’re very welcome…,” Mr. Ardel murmured… b-but was turning to address his
mother a moment later. Brendon trembled, lightly, and gripped the book within
his hands tightly. His scent… was so overpowering, so overwhelming. H-He was
right before him…

He was right there… and Brendon had to fight to keep himself away from
him. What was this? What were these feelings? Why was he feeling this way…?
Slowly, he glanced up… his gaze moving to Mr. Ardel.

His mother had been handed a large basket containing what looked to be an
assortment of candies and chocolates. He stared at the man… feeling strained…
by his inner feelings… his wants…

“Thank you so very much, Mr. Ardel,” His mother was telling the man and placed
the basket down on the table. And then she shocked him as she wrapped her
arm around him and held him close, kissing him against his forehead. She smiled
down at the book and seemed to be happy with Mr. Ardel. She seemed to like him
a lot…

Brendon stared down at his book… and clutched it tighter. Slowly, he glanced up
t…toward Mr. Ardel again… B-But, he didn’t have anything to say…
