"He is but a novice conjurer studying at the local academy. Some to them items he has sent me for have some mystical merit to them while others... but simple curios and nothing more." spoke Candle as the took both the card. As they tossed the receipt on the back and returned the card to their person, the continue to make their displeasure known.

"I can only assume these errands are but his way to preoccupy while he engages his scholarly studies as well as finding another owner for me. Ever since he learned of my sapient nature he has because... uncomfortable with my looming presence. At first he order that I remain outside but after some that attracted too for his liking and sent me on these ridiculous fetch quests whom purpose I little understand save diversion. But they are the master's orders so I am to follow them through best as I am able... but I can at the very least still complain about it."

As Candle lets out their grievances known, they let out a small huff flame from their breath. While not the worst of masters they have the displeasure of serving, the fact that they order them on purposes tasks grated them. It was one thing to forced to perform an order, it was another to do as ordered with the understanding that it was purposely meant to annoy them. How could a great and mighty Salamander such as themselves be brought to whims of mere man-child!

Monday listened to the young woman talk, a frown on his face forming and getting deeper the more she talked. And by the time Candle was finished, the male witch was feeling quite indignant on her part.

These amateur wannabes witches, they always thought they were at the top of the food chain for some reason. But if they had seen what Monday had seen, and experienced what Monday had experienced, they'd soon find out that they were in the middle, if lucky, but more likely close to the bottom of that proverbial food chain.

"Get rid of you?" Monday asked in sort of a demanding, but polite tone, having assumed the master thing was sort of thing they called each other, not that she was actually owned. He had assumed slavery was banned on the island despite what some might think. "What do you mean by that? Does he not pay you?" Monday inquired, his hackles starting to rise.

"No, I receive no pay for labor nor should I be expected payment." answered Candle, resuming their formal tone. Being bound as they were to this plane in forced servitude, they were used to being treated as but an object of admiration or a useful tool. Thus the inquiry on their payment was seen strange question was never once were they given anything for their services by any of their masters. Well aside from decorative outfits such as the one they are wearing now.

"As for why he wishes to be rid of me, I myself am unsure of the details. I was gifted him by his uncle whom as I quote "Treat his nephew well". My current master was under the impression that I was but an mindless fire construct until they came to grasp my sapient nature. Since then he has been actively looking for someone else to take me on as my new master. Whatever his intentions I will continue to serve him dutifully, least until I am transferred to a new master or til master Notts expires early."

Now as much as Candle appreciated being able to speak their mind over things for once, now that the transaction was complete there was little reason for them to remain here in the antique. Their was still the task of returning back to their master's quarters to deliver upon him their requested items even if they would be received with little fanfare. Candle inhales through through their nostrils and spokes once more.

"Now that I explained myself, I presume our transaction is finish? I know my master cares little but I am expected to return them nevertheless now that my errands are complete."

"Hold on, please," Monday said rather thoughtfully as he scratched his beard at the beginning of an idea. The whole fact that she had not received any compensation and was being sort of mistreated, or ignored, until her master, who sounded like a spoilt ignoramus, could pawn her off on someone else because she was too intelligent appalled him beyond words.

"You said that Mr. Notts wanted to find you a new placement, right?" he said, just making sure that was correct. "Would you mind working here perhaps, with me in the shop?" Monday asked curiously.

Candle tilted their at the proposition. They were unsure of his intentions though as they briefly looks about he could perhaps uses some help with... organization? Whatever he had planned they seemed to be not the malicious nor uncaring type. Plus given this man's interest in them they were sure that their master would be elated by this news. While it may be trading on master for another, this could perhaps be in improvement to their current conditions. Plus who knows whom hands they could end up next should their master find someone else? Better to work for someone they have some familiarity than some unknown.

"That as correct, Mr. Notts is searching for a new placement and new master serve. I'm sure he would be ecstatic to have you take me off of his pudgy hands. As for working here... I suppose I would not mind. It would nice change of atmosphere to what I am used certainly be an improvement to my current accommodations." answered Candle, their usual stonewall expression alters what looks to perhaps maybe a smile on their face?

"What might your name so I may inform my master upon my return to him? As well the means to best contact so that he may get in touch with you?"

Monday had to smile when she agreed to working and staying with him as her new "master" - a term he really did not enjoy, but for now, he'd accept.

"You can just tell Mr. Notts that Monday from the witches coven would like to take you on," Gabriel told her, "If he knows anything about witches and curses, he'll know who I am," Monday assured her his tone now somewhat grim.

It wasn't often Monday alluded to who he was, or that he was part of a infamous coven of cursed witches. However, any spellcaster worth their weight in salt would know who they were or at least of their curses. It wasn't often entire covens were made up of doubly cursed mages who were also the last members of their witch's family lines. They were, if nothing else, famous for their apparent bad luck.

"By the way, I didn't catch your name?" Gabriel said with a rather sheepish grin, realising how ironic and silly it was that they were agreeing to such a transaction and yet neither of them knew each other's names.

Ah so he was witch. That could explain his interest in them. Mages, warlocks, and all of those whom peer into magic and the occult always finds elemental as intriguing curiosities to control or possess.

"Very well. I will be sure to pass the message on to my master." spoke Candle, unsure of what referance he was making when it came to witches and curses though Sylvester Notts could be somewhat more familiar with what this Monday was alluding to.

"My true name would be too long and ungainly for spoken conversations. Though I have been called many things whist on this plane... the name Candle shall suffice." spoke Candle and though part of them hated that name, they have been called by that for so long that it was difficult to think calling themselves by some other moniker.

"Candle. That's a rather interesting name," he told her, understanding completely the complexity - and power - behind some names. He was also using a moniker. Very few knew his true name, and those few he trusted with his life. His coven members knew, but they were in the same boat as him, and besides, they had sworn to keep each other safe.

"I will let you go now, but if there is a problem with your, ah," here Monday almost wrinkled his nose with disdain at the title," with Mr. Notts, do let me know and I will talk to him personally," Monday said. He wasn't usually a man who stooped to "strongly persuading" others. But, for some reason, he felt rather motivated to remove Candle from the negative environment she was trapped in.

"As is Monday" remarked Candle, whom found his name just as interesting. Perhaps, like themself, they hide their true name for reasons only he would know. Nevertheless it was unimportant detail what the man's name or may not be, only what they wish to call themselves. And though they may not have been the best at reading faces but even they caught the slight disgust that Monday had of their master... a disgust that they too shared.

"Very well. I shall now make my way back to my master and inform him on your willingness to discuss details with him." Candle then took a step back, giving Monday a curt bow as she finished off with "Farewell Monday, until we meet again."

Candle then stepped back outside, a brass lantern now in their possession, and begrudgingly into the cold.
