The note had been passed around school: there was going to be a rave this weekend.

The demons seemed to put on the best parties, or so the rumors went. If you knew where to look, the right passwords, and the right connections, you could find yourself whisked away from the campus of the Academy for a night of thrills and high octane music. It was out of sight of the teachers, had all the gossip and glitter of a formal ball, and had all the underage drinking that would make even a werewolf or minotaur tell you to go to an AA meeting. It was perfect, it was a hallowed tradition, and it was the kind of thing that Yoshihiro Joe had roped himself into in the wake of a very hectic serious of weeks that had left him feeling tense and paranoid.

The teen stopped in the entrance of the old warehouse that had been converted for the night into a dance floor. The way that this place had sprung up seemingly out of nowhere was beyond bizzare. The neon lights and LED's spiraling all over the place caused it all to look unnaturally blue. Yoshihiro hesitated, lingering near the entryway to the door, before feeling a heavy hand on his back. "Relax. No one here's gonna give the quarterback of the SA football team a hard time. We got inside, that's, like, the hard part already done!" said Zadu, one of Yoshihiro's fellow teammates, as well as the seasoned senior who had organized this little 'extracurricular-bonding' event for them all.

"Yeah, I guess so." Yojo thought aloud, though it came across more as a moderate yell due to the booming bass and volume of the speakers overhead and in front of him. Zadu wrapped his arm around Yoshihiro's shoulder as they walked into the throng of partiers. The orc-boy let out a long sigh before speaking again in his rumbly voice. "Look around, Joe. There's booze, girls, and probably more shit to get high off of than anything you'd be able to buy in the streets. It's a bacchanal of the most supernatura degree- and boy, it is amazing. So, just try and break this weird rut you've been in for me and the rest of the team, all right? No point in being on the football team if you can't flex that status once in a while." Zadu said, earning a hot exhale of breath from Yoshihiro. "I thought we played football because we love the game?" He challenged, something that made Zadu snort a tad before shaking his head in resignation. "All right, I tried. Just go have some fun and don'ct act so serious, will ya?" He said, patting Yojo on the back before disappearing into the throng of ravers.

Alone in the crowd, Yoshihiro looked around, a feeling of sudden anxiety creeping up on him as the claustrophobic and tight spaces made him feel increasingly uncomfortable. He couldn't help it. Ever since he'd stolen that spare package of, well, whatever that drug was, he'd been looking over his shoulder in paranoia. He'd escaped unseen, but even then, he couldn't shake the feeling that someone was hunting him. He couldn't stop feeling like they were getting closer to him with each day that passed...

Yuki blinked standing there, frozen to the spot.

How had he gotten here?

Bars? He could handle those. Beach parties? He actually kind of liked them. Raves? No way. The music was too loud - it hurt his ears. The lights were too low - he nearly collided with a table. The place was too crowded - he was being jostled by people left and right as they entered and exited the wildly jumping crowd of people that called themselves dancers.

Not to mention he got weird looks now and again, probably because he looked like a kid. And he was one.

He could feel his breath catching in his chest. What if he tripped someone up? What if he spilt someone's drink? What if he embarrassed himself?! This was too much. Way too much. The tension wound itself inside him tighter and tighter like a spring until he couldn't take it anymore. The coil snapped and he made a run (or rather, a brisk walk) for it - towards the door; towards the exit; towards freedom...!

...until he violently collided with someone's back. His instincts screamed to bow and apologise, but he couldn't even do that because the music was way too loud for him to speak at a reasonable volume. Not to mention, there was barely enough space to breathe - let alone lower his head. Looking up to see a mountain of a man with a head of wild black hair and muscles toned enough that they looked like they could knock the lights out of anyone with a single punch, Yuki stumbled backwards as far as the crowd would let him.

"I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry!" He whispered, mostly to himself. He was crying, dammit - crying like a brat. He hated feeling like this. So uncool. So childish. When was he ever going to be more like Takumi?
