The Art of Avoidance

Vince took a really deep breath. "Yeah... sorry about that, I guess I got carried away."

When he heard Ember say seven o'clock, he smiled. "That's perfect." Then, an idea suddenly popped in his head. "Say... fancy some dinner afterwards." No, before... aww dang, not again. You're not doing very well.

Ember shrugged. "It's okay, you didn't know. A simple, innocent mistake." She smile dot cheer him up.

"Sure, that'd be great." Ember said, blushing. Now she knew how she was to dress. Oh, now she had to go shopping, good. "So Friday, right?"

"Y'know, I could swear that I said tonight, but if you really want to wait..." Vince deliberately paused to allow Ember to talk. Hopefully, he could persuade her to meet him tonight... he'd at least be doing something right for once in terms of dating. Wait... didn't I have... ahh nevermind.

The deliberate pause. Ember noticed it immediately, knowing that he hinted for tonight. Did she really want to go tonight? Or wait. She knew that if she waited, she keeping stalling to put it off. Dates always made her nervous. "Okay, tonight then." Ember smiled. It was decided, then. Tonight, she'd go on her first date with Vince.

"Great." He said, and with a rush of adrenaline, he ran towards the door. Wait, what time are you going to meet her. Gah, you always forget. He paused and turned back towards Ember to say "Uhh, so what time shall we meet?" For some reason, he was nervous when asking this question, as if perhaps it is not such a good idea to go out with her. He decided to completely ignore those feelings.

Ember laughed at the way Vince had asked her what time they should meet, why was he so nervous? "Um...how about 9:00?"
