That time of year

He saw the girl out of the corner of his eye. The stroke intended for the lupine shifted suddenly and his eyes zoomed in, celerity enhancing his reaction and auspex tracking the rounds. With abandon he cut them from the air, knocking them well off of their trajectories and harmlessly into the ground. A second stroke sliced through Zachary's neck, leaving him bleeding on the ground. He grabbed his knife once more, licking the blood from it as he saw the girl's lips move.
Naturally no sound came out, but at this point the zone of silence was no longer necessary. With but a though the zone was ended and sound returned.
"I didn't catch that. Would you care to repeat it child?" He sneered, taunting the mage ever further.
"Once I drain you, the blood you hold will serve to free me from these bonds so I can return to my nights. In the interim..." He said, letting the sentence trail off as he made a decision about what to do next. Chances were he could ignore the gun, but he liked to keep on his toes anyway.. If he had his way she wouldn't even see him coming, and he took advantage of that, stepping onto her shadow. Spikes shot up from the ground, aiming to impale the girl that stood so defiantly before him.

Meanwhile, the wounds Zachary had sustained healed quickly. Apparently the sword wasn't really enchanted or anything as he could be up soon. Still, he wasn't sully functional and he was very aware of this. He was hoping Aurora would handle everything before he managed to return to health, and he kept that hope alive as the cuts started to knit shut.

If there was one thing that her quarry was, it was was quick. Two shots towards his hand, and neither not only hit, but the bullets themselves were cut down. It wasn't magic either, it was natural ability. In a way, this was something of a good thing. The paradox limit with Zackary injured and Nakata dead had been raised, especially considering the ability of her opponent. There was a grin on her face. This was going to be fun. Taking lives for fun was against her principles and everything the Chakravanti stood for.

That said...vampires weren't really living things.

"Success starts with achievable goals. It doesn't sound like you've found one as of yet."

Aurora had not looked into the future, but then again she didn't need to. Suffice it to say, when the being stepped into her shadow and impaled her, it hurt. Immensely. But it was only temporary. As she died, there was another voice that faded in from darkness, holding the same gun as the other body started to fade from the timeline.

"Time is not on your side it seems. You're as slow as any other."

Aurora dashed forward seemingly undamaged, rapier brandished and pointed forward, going straight for the knife that had just earlier been destined for Zackary.

Things would have to step up naturally, it's quite possible that other than a few minor tricks, she wouldn't need magic quite at all.

A smirk crossed his features. The girl was charging at him, a brave but foolish move, and he simply burned some of his vampiric vitae, activating the vampiric celertiy but also to use the power of one of his clan's most powerful abilities. He spat two bullet-sized fonts of blood at the girl. Were they to hit they would burn away he flesh and bones, her body would start to melt wherever the blood touched, and would allow the rapier to puncture his hand. With that done he would simply release the dagger and grip the blade that she held. He knew it to be dangerous to hold onto mage tools, but it mattered not. His hand could be regrown and he wanted to slow her down for a moment.

———-

Zachary started to stand as the wounds on his back and legs healed closed. The vampire had over estimated his blade and he aimed to misbehave. It was his own fault for having lost control and gone into a frenzy, but it was much overdue. He was clear headed now, forced out of frenzy by the somehow blessed attacks of the vampire... who was fully functional in sunlight? What the hell was going on?! Still he watched as Aurora fought the vampire, debating on whether or not he should interfere. He watched as she fought and he slid his right arm to the side of his body, ready to activate his houzuki horn and begin his own assault, but glory was hers if she managed... then he saw the vampire spit blood. He had been the victim of that type of thing once and it had taken a bit to heal. All he could do was watch and hope as she attacked.

So maybe a full on dash wasn't exactly the smartest of her repertoire, but then again, the move didn't need to be clever, it just needed to be effective. As one of the shots of blood struck her arm, she stopped entropy in the small area before it did excessive damage. No doubt she would however, be using heavier magical effects later to rid herself of the infection so to speak.

Despite getting hit however, she had gotten luckier than imagined, completely impaling the creatures hand. Why anyone would grab a blade, supernatural or not was simply beyond comprehension. Maybe even more so when the creature probably knew what he was dealing with. Aurora jumped away about 10 feet...she wasn't out of the woods yet of course.

Aurora spread her arms, Lachesis materializing in her left hand. Maybe she couldn't, or wouldn't kill him. But on the other hand, maybe she didn't need to. She wasn't looking to cut his hand off...the opposite in fact.

"Dust in the clockwork."

Although vampires wounds supposedly sealed easily, they probably weren't going to anymore. The 'hands' on Lachesis spinning in reverse, Aurora channeled temporal energy through the staff, into the sword. Spreading like a virus, time would at first slow, then stop, eventually sealing the vampire in stasis until Zackary knew what to do with him. If that didn't work...well, there was always the nasty stuff.

Tezzeret felt as if things around him were slowing to a crawl. He knew mages to be capable of a laundry list of things but he had the counter. He had already activated his celerity and he took off at a dead bolt with his sword raised high, choosing not to heal his hand as he ran and slicking the blade with his blood. He pumped as much vampiric vitae as he was able. One strike to finish her off, to obliterate her completely.

The charge ended prematurely... but only just. With sword raised, he swung for her neck, though even as he swung he could feel it's speed decrease and finally it stopped about one inch above her shoulder, and four inches from her neck. Time stopped completely for Tezzeret and he struggled for but a moment before everything froze in his mind's eye as well.

Zachary stood up, now fully healed. With combat over, he simply shifted back to human form. There would be discussion to be had about the things that were happening here, and about what to do with Nakata's body.. He watched the vampire freeze, apparently he hadn't spent enough time training in anti mage combat, nor had he payed enough attention to the fact that he was healing, but through all the mental chastising of the vampire's performance, Zachary realized he had work to do on himself. The day had illustrated that he needed to figure out a way to fight blind, he knew for sure that if he had seen the vampire in the first place he would have had the upper hand, hell if he hadn't gone into a frenzy he might have won, but no one fought fair these days.
"What-" He stopped, there was no way that he could voice how distraught he currently was, he was trained to control his emotions, but he was having trouble.
"What do we do about Nakata? And what do we do with him?" He asked solemnly.

Wilhelm cursed at the top of his lungs and unleashed his final project. All the monster had to do was stand up. It was enormous, rotting flesh, three heads, chains, an enormous guard covered it's neck, though for what reason was anyone's guess. As it rose out of the water though, its steps created a lot of turbulence in the water. One step destroyed the part of the lab where it was kept and wilhelm cursed once more, preparing his teleportation device. It was time to go, he would come back next year and finish his tasks, but for now he had nothing left to use.

——————————————-

As the monster rose from the lake, Zachary turned to it, no longer in the mood to even enjoy the combat. He took aim, pointing his fingers at the metal coif around the three heads and roared as best and human could until the wolf inside rose up and electricity blasted from his fingers, superheating the guard, removing two of the heads and causing the monster to fall to the ground with an enormous thud. ("Gnosis at 3/5")
"And if one more fucking monster rises out of that lake I'm going to go on a rampage!" He growled. Whatever was throwing waves at them had gotten it backwards. The vampire was the stronger opponent.

For a split second, Aurora thought for just a moment that she had misjudged the amount of dilation she would need to put the vampire into stasis for awhile. Thankfully though, just before she was about to become another casualty, the creature stopped, frozen and time. Spell finally complete, Aurora sidestepped, pressing one finger to the bottom of his blade, and moving herself out of the way in case something drastic happened.

"Well that was exciting now wasn't it?"

The mage brushed herself off and let her staff loose, releasing the white-knuckled grip she had kept on Lachesis for the duration of her spell. The temporal energy from the device subsided, scattering from the area on the wind. No doubt paradox would take affect in the school somewhat, causing deja vu for many of its students. Not a deadly flaw...but maybe even hilarious in that aspect.

She inspected the vampire somewhat while listening to Zackary some, and although another monster appeared, it was vaporized quite quickly by a rather upset student. It was understandable. She too would be quite upset if someone had tried to kill her. Tried.

Aurora finally spoke after the snow had settled from the last impact.

"There's no need for the language."

The mage stared at the vampire for a bit, wondering what exactly she was going to do. Frankly, it wasn't so clear cut.

"I don't know about this mook, but I'm sure you can think of something for him. As for Nakata..."

It was a strange feeling to be honest, and to that end, maybe it was why she didn't feel as sad as she should have at the time of his death, or now for that matter.

"Let's let him be. The snow will cover him up, something tells me we haven't quite seen the last of him. Let's go get some hot chocolate yeah? I'll clean up the mess a little later."

Zachary looked at her incredulously.
"He deserves at least a grave! He died trying to help this school! And the vampire.." He stopped as he remembered it. Resolving to interrogate it instead of letting his emotions take control.
"How long will your spell last? I'm taking Naka's body, with me and that vampire for questioning. Death would be too easy for him" He said more calmly as he stepped away from her, heading for his Ak-47 that had been lying on the ground. He tossed it into the coffin shaped gun case he had brought with him, and grabbed one of his wooden arrows, which he shoved through the vampire's heart without a sign of emotion on his face. It was done ceremoniously even though deep down he was sure he enjoyed it. He went through the steps of gathering Naka's body and waiting for Aurora before he grabbed the vampire's body.
"If you want to come with me to my apartment you're welcome to help with all this." He was cold at the moment. It was how he was taught to be instead of emotional when people close to him died, and while Nakata hadn't been close to him when all of this started, he still thought of him as family.
