Tell tale sign

Elatrion stood in the river cold water flowing over her thighs she was completely soaked. The fish that swam by spoak to her. They told her to get out of the water, asked why she was there in the first place, told her that she would catch hypothermia if she didnt hurry. After a while of their jabbering she grew angry she couldnt block them out any longer. She started hitting at the water and screaming.
"Shutup!! Just shutup I cant hear you!!" she screamed. If that wasnt a tell tale sign of her denial then she didnt know what was.

A male voice, belonging to a tall young man with a friendly grin a few feet away.
"Can't hear who? Miss, are you going deaf or perhaps Mrs. Doolittle? This academy is quite strange indeed!"

Elatrion whipped around to look at him her face red with anger and tears streaming down her face in frustration.She was shivering from the cold but she wasnt worried about that. What she was worried about was that someone had seen her in her time of pure vulernability.
"I'm not going deaf and I cant hear them..." she said through gritted teeth. Just the fact of being at this school was driving her crazy but with the fear of growing so cold her blood would stop flowing she slowly made her way to the waters edge and sat on the bank.
"I'm sorry you had to see that..." she said quietly.
