Amara took down some notes on some of the names and answers she had received and continued on with her lecture.Pale Riders? She had never heard of the exact name but by the description she had felt she had seen some before. The question he raised was weird as she had never heard son of the dragon.

Everyone knew of the wraith line as how do you not notice people turning into even bigger monster. Amara stared to herself instead hoping someone else could answer the question instead. Her mind wondered to what bloodline her father was apart of. He was gone when she was very young and her concern wasnt really focused on bloodlines.

Its not like she got the chance to ask him nor could she ask her mom. Maybe she could turn into a giant dragon. A small smirk appeared on her face at the silly thought. The most she knew of her bloodline was Light wasnt as painful to them as others. She knew of people who just couldn't be in the daylight. Amara twiddled her pencil around her fingers waiting for someone to answer,if anyone even knew.

Van waited a few moments hoping someone would answe, "no? No one?." He hit a button bringing up an image of Vlad the Inpaler, "the name Dracula also translates into..son of the dragon." He smiled at his class, "Vlad Tepes Dracula is far older than most realize." He pointed to the image of the tablet, "he was in fact one of the original vampires."

He stepped to his desk and took a sip of his coffee, "luckily Dracula rarely turned someone, he knew too many wraiths would threatened his power." He smiled, "but even Dracula made mistakes, on a rare occasion he would fail to kill someone he fed on." He sipped his coffee again, "that...is how I was turned."

He chuckled, "I guess you could put two and two together and see how I ended up meeting Van Helsing."

Hmmmm? Her thoughts were boggled and fuzzy a bit? If this guy was turn by the real Dracula who the hell was he? Its not every day a king just decides to bite someone,or even go out of their way to hunt. Maybe the professor was some long lost prince,or a noble. The idea of her teacher being royalty was strange. Did she have to curtsy? Was my lord in order?

"That must have been quite the adventure for you. Having met two famous people in our history.I would think Van Helsing would have killed you considering you were younger and he was adamant on killing Vampires." This whole story seemed more and more bogus as she thought about it.

This person was sired by thee Dracula and was friends with the most notorious Vampire hunter in existence. Granted the possibility was still there ,but he must have hit a really good percentage to not be dead right now. Amara faced squinted a little bit at the Professor. He didn't seem like a killer so fighting off Van Helsing seemed out of the narrative.

Maybe just maybe he actually just talked his way out of the situation. She would never be able to get away with that.It would just turn into her constantly stuttering before having to fight regardless. "So do you happen to know where the real diary is." Amara was holding up the translated text. "Or did he just let you sit there and copy it?" The indirect question Amara was actually trying to figure out was if they were friends. Either he fought for it and his wording of "gave" was more aggressive in nature.

Van chuckled, "I was meerly a random farmer in Britain, who's village Dracula and his brides decided to raid." He took a sip of his coffee, "I didn't see Dracula again until the 1800s when I was helping Van Helsing. Remember what I said...Van Helsing hunted vampires that endangered humans, he let peaceful ones be. It's a shame he became hated by vampire kind."

He cocked his head and laughed, "younger? I was quite a bit older than Van Helsing. I was born during the 1400s." He chuckled, "as for the original diary I have it stored somewhere safe, I'm considering donating it to the supernatural museum."

He snapped his fingers, "aw but my thoughts wandered, back to the tablet." He went back to the screen, "those who are named here are given names because of certain abilities and traits, for example the Stormrider indicates weather and electricity control." He gestured to the next, "Shadowmonger indicates the abilitiy to manipulate shadow and darkness." He turned back to the others, "now many of these traits exist today among modern vampires."

Eh, Amara wasnt keen on the whole idea of Van Helsing. To assume every Vamp was intentionally evil was unrealistic in her mind. Those sired by a Vampire normally had little to no control over their own being. The real villain were the intentional evils not those who died from lack of freedom.

Amara face grew a hint of annoyance and anger in it but she covered up by acting she was taking notes. " I have a question Sir do you have any clue on the genetic make up on mixed blood Vampires. Not exactly have bloods but maybe a pure blood and a sire or even two pure's of different line.I know my family is my parents are of different lines. Some documents have said this itself causes new lines to be born due to different loci and genetic recombination.

Although others have said that one family line could be more dominant causing only one set of traits to be inherited." The science behind vampires were a difficult thing.Unlike humans who have had all their lives to study the fine tunes of their biology and nature. Mythical creatures on the other hand vary with how much is known. Amara planned to study the sciences and magic in college so getting a head start on some questions was helpful.

Van nodded, "excellent question dear, and though I'm not a geneticist I did do research into it." He took a sip of coffee, "in truth two vampires of different bloodlines having a child doesn't immediately create a new bloodline, it would take years of careful breeding to get a bloodline created."

He hit a switch, the screen now showed a data chart of vampire abilities, "now as with any other being when a vampire child is born it often takes elements of both parents. As you know each bloodline normally has certain inherent abilities. So when you have a child born of two bloodlines it can be...unpredictable which abilities they get. For example if a child is born of a wraith father and stormrider mother, they may be born with wings and electricity or any number of combinations."

Amara was beginning to become more astounded with the remote the professor had than the actual lecture. That thing was like magic with how it always transferred to just the right panel for the topic at hand. " So its just a amalgamation of the varying traits. That is....entertaining to say the least."

Amara's hands began to let out that fuzzy feeling as if static was in the air. Neither her mother nor father had her powers. Her little sister Kimi was able to generate electricity but might be due too the fact they were the spawn of the same parents. However her second talent was of a whole different lineage to hers. Maybe Amara didn't inherit anything special. Maybe she was just a Vamp who happen to have a weird set of powers. "Then I ask next what are the chances of a vampire just not receiving any specialized power. With humans sometimes genetics stop them from receiving certain traits or even physical appendages. Can a problem happen with a vampire locking away their power?"

Amara wasnt really concerned over the answer. If for some reason she had lost her family blood powers fate had seen right to give her a new set. Wait!? Would her kids have the same power as her? Why was she even thinking about fucking kids at a time like this? Amara had a sick expression on her face as she stuck her tongue out in disgust at the idea of popping out some form of life form.

"Wonderful questions dear," he smiled and hit a few buttons, the screen now showed what was a latter system showing the development stages of a born vampire.

"Now as you know I was turned, as such my abilities came more or less instantly," he shadow teleported across the room and back again. "It took me a year to learn how to properly control them, but I had them."

He pointed to the screen, "but a born vampire often develops there abilities over time, so they may not have all there abilities until there 20s, this isn't always the case, but it's common." He took a sip of his coffee, "as for a born vampire not having traits you'd expect them to be born with, it's possible. Or...that child's abilities may not have activated yet."

Eh so she was just too young? Amara was already having trouble dealing with her current powers adding more would be annoying. Though it was too be expected that her life get more stressful. "Activated....you make them sound like batteries sir.If a baby wasnt born with basic trait to feed on blood they would most likely die in the human realm. Thankfully here we have the technology to keep them supplied through IV."

Amara had a largely aggressive tone in her voice as she was passionate about the lives of Pure-blood vampires who are normally younger and berated by the older sired vampires. Her rant continued on,"So Professor personally what was your preferred method of feeding off the island hmmmm. Did you go around asking for blood or did you take what you needed by force."

Amara wasnt buying this persona anymore. The professor seemed like a smart man wrapped in too strange a history to fit his personality. He was a "good" vampire helping in several wars which was not uncommon for many male vampires trying to blend in. Even her father had to fight in the many wars that plagued northern Africa and Middle eastern theater of WW1 and WW2.

"Dear activate is merely a term used to describe when abilities of the gifted emerged, it's used when describing more than just vampire abilities." He sipped on his coffee, "as for born vampires in the outside world, there other vampire communities, I was living in one in Europe before I came here. I acted as a supernatural adviser of sorts in exchange for blood packs and equipment for said community, my protégé took over when I came here."

He set his now empty coffee cup down, "and my feeding habits....I fed mostly on animals....I needed more of animal blood than human blood, but I've never fed directly on a person." He poured himself more coffee and added blood to it, "you see the bite of a wraith will always either turn or kill the person bitten, I myself spent a week in a coma when I was turned." He sipped from his coffee, "occasionally I found someone kind enough to donate a bit of blood in a cup, but that was rare."

He smiled, "at least until the Cold War. Then I was partnered with a man even older than me who kept me supplied....and beca me my best friend." He sniffed the air, "ah hes here, I invited him to be a guest speaker...please welcome my old friend Simeon."
