Chloe and Angelo? Kon could see Chloe. She was a demon and contributed a lot to the demon community here. Angelo though? "I'm familiar with Chloe. I know Angelo better. We're friends. Not close friends, but we get along well enough."

The real surprised showed on Kon's face. Who would let Ghum babysit an actual child? Was the child a murder demon too? Why would you let him influence them? Or was there another side to Ghum that was actually very caring and taught children how to be a productive citizen? Doubtful, but it sounded better than any parent letting a guy who gets off on murder and annoying people influence their children.

And Ghum sure was right about a lot of fighters being killers. That only made Kon feel weirder. He was a predator and person-eater who never killed. At most, he was an accomplice, and that was before the DNA stuff.

Kon ignored Ghum wrapping his (bloody) arm around his shoulder and gave a nod. "I get what you're saying. So, earn respect by participating more in the community. Sounds easy enough. I could still try to sprinkle some fear tactic when necessary. Not full blown threats of murder, but, as you'd put it, 'big dick energy.' That can be developed with a change of style and personality. I could even switch my species to something that gives off more 'big dick energy' vibes."

At that point, he was thinking out loud. The more he thought about things, the more excited he became. He could do this. He was going to become a well-known and well-liked person on Manta Carlos Island.

Ghum grin and just nodded his head to Kon's words. See this wasn't so hard. He could be a bit helpful while being an absolute shitlord. It was a perfect balance of him doing both things at once. "Well that's mostly all I got so far for ya. You do all that community helping shit and eventually you will get respect from the people. I mean, a good start is getting the school's respect too." Ghum wasn't so sure about if the school could be useful for Kon. "I guess...doing stuff with the school? Lot of adults get brought in by the scouts from the school too and usually end up there."

Ghum guessed that was the case. He had the luxury of getting summoned and freed by Chloe. He didn't have to deal with whatever bullshit the scouts and the school dished out. They probably would have put him in the islets. He also probably wouldn't "behave" as much as he was now for them compared to Chloe.

"I can help you with the fear tactics and I guess fighting murdery shit too for that big dick energy." Was he joking with that last bit? Maybe. "And who knows, your business thing might get a shoutout on a radio station or something. Advertisement is key."

Doing stuff with the school. That was part of the plan. See what clubs would help out, what advice other scouts had (Aranea already offered to help), and get the organization known there for the adult students.

Ghum was surprisingly helpful. He was even offering to go a step further. But was that surprising? If Konpeitō didn't think Ghum would be of any help, then he wouldn't have gone to him.

But Ghum helped and dangled a treat in front of Kon. He was going to make it big in this place. First his interview with Natalie, now Ghum hinting that in the future he might get featured on his radio station. Wait, did Ghum mean his radio station or just one in general? Kon decided to go with the latter. It was much more encouraging.

With sparkling eyes (they weren't actually sparkling, but they got very vibrant and shiny) he clenched his right hand into a fist and pumped it. "Yes, yes! I'm working on getting help from the school. I'm already setting up stuff with advertisements. Learning how to be the 'bigger predator' would be helpful. I've already taken some self-defense classes, but those were for getting out of a bad situation. Buuut I guess I could figure out how to use something from there to intimidate."

"Well seems like you are ten stepe ahead all fucking ready." Kon working with the school was the best thing Ghum could think of for him to do. A good chunk of the islanders get brought in via the scouts at the school so yeah. It made some sense to work with them. Ghum didn't have any sort of amazing idea for this stuff. He isn't a business genius. He was just going off the shit he learned from reading a few books and the fucking internet.

What he was a genius at was probably intimidating the fuck out of people. Well he assumed he was anyway. Kinda hard to tell when he just memes and bullshit at people most of the time. Plus....he literally babysits...

"Eh, well intimidation is going to be a challenge here. Too many fight happy , murdering, full of themselves, motherfuckers here." Ghum scratched at his chin as he gestured around with his other hand. "So many they built a fucking arena."

What can Kon do to be intimidating other than looks? Ghum sure there was something but he wasn't super sure on what. "Act more professional I guess? You can try being all formal and stuff too. Get a mean ass, firm ass, fucking handshake to people. Like Angelo's dad? You know his dad right? Just do that."

Kon's colors became even more vibrant and a grew a few inches in height when Ghum acknowledged how well he was doing. Kon always became prideful when someone offered him good advice and he had already taken it. He was on the right track. He was smart enough to already do what people thought he should do.

However, Ghum still had good advice to give, so Kon continued listening. "Yeah, I know Basilio." The mention of him sent a shiver down Kon's spine. One look at that guy told you to not mess with him or his family. "I'll be like him, then. Heh, I could even ask Angelo for some advice. I'm sure he knows all about being professional and intimidating. I bet hero worked involved a whole lot of that."

Konpeitō could just hug Ghum right now. If he wasn't covered in blood. And wouldn't most probably rip Kon's body apart for coming at him suddenly. "Thank you. Thank you so so much for all of this."

I don't know how to repay you, he almost continued with. It was a natural thing to say in this situation, but he'd rather not remind Ghum that he could try convincing Kon to do things for him. As much as Kon portrayed himself as a nonchalant asshole, he found himself feeling bad if he never repaid someone for their generosity. To get around this, he preferred to be nice to them first before they asked for anything. Set things on his own terms.

Ghum just shrugged at Kon. "No need to thank me and all that shit. This is good practice for me I guess."
Ghum was 2-0 at helping people right now, not that he was keeping track or anything. He figured this will help him with his book now that he actually had a biiiiit more experience with the whole encouraging and helping thing.

"I'd say try to be Basilio's assistant but I don't think he even needs one of those. He just owns a resturaunt. You could maybe like...."
What could Kon do to get a better feel of Basilio's personality without being weird and maybe borderline stalkerish?
"Interview him along with the rest of the supergoodies and baddies that came along with him? I don't fucking know."

Kon wondered what Ghum meant by this being good practice. Was he trying to become a nicer, more understanding person? It sounded doubtful, but Kon wouldn't be a good leader to TWIS if he couldn't believe that everyone could improve. Or... most people. Clearly, some people on the island had natures they just could not go against.

"Probably not interview him and other Halcyonites about him. I'm no longer a journalist. It'd just be weird. Buuut I know a couple of Halcyonites well enough that I'm sure I could ask them without issues."

The gears were turning. Kon was already making a list of questions to ask and who to ask those questions to.

"I should start preparing. Tha—Eugh. I'm happy I came to you. I shouldn't need any more help, but I might come back to you for some tips on any appearance updates I make."

"Huh well use those journalism skills of yours and do whatever you need to do to get the info you need." He thought the interviewing idea was good way to do it. Well he mostly thought it was a good idea because Kon could get a video recording and study it like a football team prepping for game day or something. Thoooough, asking around would probably be more discreet.
It probably didn't really matter how he get the info or whatever he needed to.

"Just ask me anything at anytime. Don't be a pussy and hold shit back." Ghum smirked at Kon and folded his arms.

Kon returned the smirk by jokingly pouting and folding his arms. "No can do. I have to stay on brand." Then he made a smirk of his own, all the while reverting to his normal form.

"And you know me well enough to know I don't ever hold shit back, even when I probably should... Mm, I should work on that too." Being forward was something Konpeitō was proud of despite knowing others often disliked it. It wasn't his fault he liked to speak his mind. That's how he was made. "Ah well! I have a lot to think about. I'll see you later, Ghum."
