Tarana Arore

Rana| 45| April 3 | Female| Lamia
Citizen| Unemployed
appearance
Rana is slightly above average in size for her species, being forty-one feet long from head to tail. Her tail is a dark maroon color with cream colored bands breaking up the main coloration. Her tail muscles are particularly well developed, making it firm to the touch.

For her human half, Rana is somewhat muscular with dark caramel colored skin. She is more androgynous than many of her sisters, having a flat chest and less pronounced hips. Her hair, bright fiery orange, is cut into a neck length bob. Her fingers are tipped in the same dark maroon color as her tail.

Rana’s eyes are a marvel to look at. They sparkle and glitter in scintillating patterns of every color of the rainbow, subtly shifting as though they were a liquid. Rarely does anyone get to see these eyes however, as she keeps them covered in a blindfold wrapped around her head.

personality
Rana may be one of the oldest, but she is also the most spoiled of the sisters. Used to getting her own way, she tends to be kind of bitchy if things aren't going the way she expects. She can be kind of needy and possessive, and due to the nature of her curses she is a shameless moocher.

She has a casual relationship with propriety and though she has pride in her status as an Arore she is willing to give some of that up for basic comforts. She's a seductress who just wants a sugar daddy or six to pay for her every want and need.

None of this is to say that Rana is a terrible person through and through. She has a strong, if absolute, sense of justice. Likewise her loyalty to people who have endeared themselves to her is nearly unwavering.

She has trouble letting go of her former tendencies, and has trouble with freezing up at inopportune moments because she can't see the future anymore.

powers
Hypnosis.
Tarana’s eyes and voice are captivating to those who hear and see them. Her abilities are broken up into two main forms.

First, Rana’s voice can cause anyone who hears it to be more prone to do as she asks. The power works even on animals, and the less intelligent a creature is the more susceptible they are to her hypnosis. In general, for anything of at least human intelligence, the commands she gives cannot violate the person’s personal moral code or place them in direct danger. The commands also generally have to be simple, single sentence statements. There are no lasting effects of her hypnosis, and repeated exposure tends to partially inoculate one against the power.

Second, her eyes are powerful hypnotizing foci, capturing the attention of anyone who meets her gaze. Anyone who locks eyes with Rana is left nearly paralyzed, transfixed and unable to willingly look away from her. They generally will not move unless something attempts to move them in such a way that would break this eye contact, or if Rana herself compels them to act. She can only affect a single individual at a time and only lasts as long as Rana can keep her eyes open, as even the length of a blink is enough to dispel the effect.

Those affected by her eyes generally speaking are affected by her verbal commands as though they had animal level intelligence. Rana is not immune to this effect, and even catching her own reflection can leave her incapacitated for long periods of time.

Curses.
Tarana, being a curious girl in her youth, often found herself on the receiving end of cursed objects and ancient magicks. While most of these were removed by the priestesses of her homeland, a few remained undetected or were otherwise unable to be removed. Given the nature of the curses, it is unlikely that any magic user in this world could remove them.

Poverty – Rana cannot carry or handle any amount of currency or risk burning. The amount of money as well as the length of time she is in contact with it both affect the severity of the burns. This affects her even through clothes or bags that she carries, though it does minimally slow the effect. The curse, upon coming to this world, also extended to debit and credit cards.

Invitation – Rana cannot cross any threshold without the express verbal permission of someone with the authority to grant such permission. Once permission is granted, she may freely enter and exit so long as she does not leave a one mile radius of the place she was given permission to enter. Should she leave this radius, she must re-establish permission to be allowed in again.

species powers
Strength.
Strength As a lamia, Tarana is in possession of a great deal of strength. It’s not the kind that she would have in her arms, but rather the kind she would have in her core and tail. Given the advanced muscle structures at work that grant her the ability to move swiftly and accurately, she has in fact a great deal of strength. With her tail she is able to crush wood, and bend metals simply by wrapping around them and squeezing. To a human this could be a death sentence, however the only way a human would get caught in her grasp is if she accidentally forgot to let go of a hug. While not a power or anything exceptional for a lamia, her strength is considered super human in that it is well and above what a normal human would be able to achieve. For that reason alone it is being mentioned. It should be noted that snakes half her size in the real world are capable of exerting 90 psi of continuous force, or the equivalent of a 9000 lb school bus parked on a man’s chest. Given that Tarana’s tail is much thicker than normal snakes, with a heavier muscle build it stands to reason that she could exert even more force in needed.

Swallowing
Tarana is capable of unhinging her jaw and swallowing large prey whole. She can swallow a creature up to the size of a small work horse, but she may have to break their limbs to get them to fit properly. After eating in this manner, Tarana is engorged and sluggish for a time depending on the size of the prey, up to three days. However for each day she is engorged she doesn't require additional food for a full three days afterward.

She can eat things that would normally be dangerous to be consumed, such as a creature with quills or claws or horns without injury to her internal organs. She can also digest harder materials that normally could not be.

Healing, Durability, Increased Lifespan.
Tarana is easily 80% reptile as such she has an increased healing rate. While not to the point of being over powered, she can recover from injuries at twice the rate of a normal human. Broken bones can mend in half the time, lacerations can close up within a few short days, and even limbs can be regrown over time, though that in itself is a lengthy process on it's own. This Durability and Healing has led to Lamia developing a very strong immune system, rendering them immune to almost all forms of disease and toxins. The average life span of a Lamia is around five hundred years, though it is not uncommon to see them living considerably longer than that.

Movement.
Being a Lamia has Given Tarana a couple of advantages in movement. For starters she is an exceptional swimmer, using her powerful tail in much the same way a snake would to propel herself quickly and easily through the water. She is also a skilled climber, once again taking advantage of her strong tail to act as a grip for vertically ascending trees and other surfaces.

Cold [Weakness].
Tarana is more reptile than human, that being the case she is cold blooded, and heavily dependent on her environment to maintain her levels of activity and health. Like many reptiles in the early or cooler hours of the morning she can be sluggish and unresponsive, much like a teenager refusing to get out of bed. On colder days in general she will rarely venture out doors. She also needs to be careful around pools as well. If she tries to swim in a body of water that is too cold she can run the risk of becoming to slow to stay afloat and drown.

Size [Weakness].
One of Tarana’s biggest drawbacks is her incredible size. While not exceptional for a Lamia, or even as large as her sister, she is quite large compared to humans, with her tail reaching approximately 11 meters in length. This makes living in a human sized world awkward and at times dangerous. People often trip or step on her tail, causing potential injury to herself and others. Not to mention she weighs in at almost half a ton, meaning that many things meant for normal people are by no means capable of supporting her weight.

Full Moons.
Under normal circumstances, Tarana is able to control her more primitive instincts, those revolving around mating. However, the Lunar phenomenon known as a full moon leaves her completely insatiable. Her drive to be with a man is almost uncontrollable, and she is helpless to the call of her urge to mate. Unlike her Sisters, Tarana is less of a physical threat than some of her other sisters, despite her size and strength, as she tends to utilize her hypnosis.

biography
Being one of the oldest Arore sisters and having a particularly adventurous youth, Tarana has seen the most of their world. She explored many places in her younger days, not content to sit around and train to protect the world from monsters and the like.

These excursions ended up in many situations where she was cursed. Many of these were removed, but some we're not due to their less detrimental nature.

In her world she was both a warrior and a prophet, having the gift to see the future in addition to her hypnotic abilities. She grew passive, seeing the future so set in stone making her grow distant from the present. She would only act when she one that her skills were necessary to keep the pre-established future going on it's tracks.

She knew that the trip across the veil to the other world (this world) was a trap, a one way ticket, but she allowed her sisters to go because she saw that they were, in a general sense, happier there. After Corsalyn and Chi went through, she knew it was time to stop the rest of her sisters to go through the portal. So she volunteered to go next, under the assumption that she would be the last one they sent.

She arrived on Manta Carlos, losing her future vision in the process. During her early months, she burned a lot of bridges with her family and ended up spending some time in jail through wanton use of her hypnosis powers. She is currently unemployed and living on the kindness of others.
