Jackal looked like a demon, and there were no two ways about it. Or, realistically speaking, he looked worse then that. A lot of demons on the island looked more or less normal, passing as human with even the scantest bit of effort. Jackal, on the other hand, was never going to look human. Sharp teeth, red eyes, and his massive tail made it pretty damn obvious that he wasn't human. His tail was absolutely massive, almost as long as he was tall, and close to his ass were four insect like legs, sharpened down to a point and seemingly constantly at the ready.

He had to be very, very careful with his tail. If he wasn't careful, he was going to end up knocking a whole shelving unit down. That was the problem with big tails--by their very nature, they were behind you, and Jackal literally didn't have eyes in the back of his head to keep an eye on the damn thing.

"I should have asked for it to be smaller," Jackal muttered under his breath as he weaved through the grocery store, taking extra wide turns to try and compensate.

Kris let out a soft sigh. He hated this! Sure, it had been an entire year. But.. This was something he couldn't get used to! Not at all! It didn't feel natural! He had to go shopping without his mom! Normally he'd force Nyota to go with him because he had literally no impulse control on his own usually. That much was evident by the fact that he had five boxes of snack cakes stacked in his basket with a couple of styrofoam cups of ramen next to them.

Yeah. He wasn't too good at this on his own. The only thing he was worse at was meeting and talking with new people. Especially since they were so.. DIFFERENT! Well. He was different, too. But he had trouble remembering that. His tail idly swishing in the air behind him as the ears twitched atop of his head.

Of course, he wasn't paying too much attention as he was moving, not noticing the man taking a wide turn. And with that, he felt the tail come into contact with his leg! His teeth went to grit for a moment! His personal space! Violated! By some weird guy's lizard tail! How dare he be slighted like this! It was almost as if.. Kris was.. Growling?

"Hey! Watch where ya goin' ya.. Scaled.. Loser." He found himself a bit hard pressed for creative insults without advanced notice.

Jackal's sense of feeling in his tail was best described as subpar. He could feel someone running into it, but a light bump like that? Barely registered. It wasn't until someone started talking--to him, apparently--that Jackal turned, towering over the girl by more than a foot.

Innocent. Well, that wasn't surprising. Most people were. That said, most people weren't quite so aggressive with random strangers. Especially not random strangers that were several feet taller than them, with sharp, sharp teeth.

Jackal grinned down at the girl just to emphasize his teeth.

"Scaled loser, eh?" He said. "Wasn't it you who wasn't watching where they were going? You'd think someone with such big ears would have an easier time spotting people."

His words only earned him a squint from the small boy. A squint as he staaaaared up at him. Yeah. He was taller. And he had.. Scary.. Sharp teeth. But you know what? He wasn't going to take that from this person.

"Wow." Kris started out as he looked away, moving to flick his own hair a bit with his hand, "Big ears having an easier time spotting people? Are ya as dumb as ya tall? Ears help hear. Not see." As the student spoke, he brought a hand up to cover his mouth daintily as he let out a soft laugh. "Oh ho ho. I mean. I guess you are. The phrase is lizard brains for a reason. Because lizards are dumb."

And Kris was wondering why, just a few days ago, he only had one friend.

"Ya spot people with any sense," Jackal said, rolling his eyes as he did. He really, really shouldn't be getting into a verbal argument with a child (because man, he definitely looked like a kid), but Jackal was pretty used to getting the last word. That was one of the major advantages of being seven feet tall with very sharp teeth.

"Naw, Lizard brains are about surviving. Can't say you have much of a lizard brain, with how you're acting," Jackal said, looming over the kid. If anyone thought it was strange to see Jackal do so, they no doubt hurried on their way quickly, because very, very few people would be willing to intervene in such a scene.

"And, for the record, it's some kind of bug bit. Lizard? Seriously? You blind?"

The legs along the base of his tail skittered and flexed, the front most two going so far as to reach forward to wrap just in front of Jackal's hips.
