Shay reached out and patted his back; she was becoming unnervingly used to touching Kenta. "That won't happen. Whatever it was that sealed him away, you must have that in you. Now that you know about him, you're even more prepared than you were before."
Kenta was silent and still for a while. Eventually he looked at her and nodded. His eyes though... They still held his fear. Surely she of all people could understand this fear. He didn't need her powers to see what could happen. He'd seen it in his nightmares for so long, he knew what could happen. What he would see... What he would do... Surely he had new nightmares to live through tonight. With a rapid shake of his head and a forced smile he stood up and held his hand to her. "If even I'm getting cold, you must be freezing in this."
Shay felt a wave of guilt wash over her. She shouldn't have brought it up, but it was too late to turn back time now. She smiled mildly and took his hand. She couldn't even feel her legs anymore. "Is this the kind of stuff you and Laetus do together?" she asked.
He shook his head and helped her up. "Not really. We usually end up eating a ton or something like that. Maaaybe mess with people a bit." He said the last bit with a smirk. "His power is really good for that."
"What can he do?" Shay followed up with. She wished now that she hadn't sat in the water. Of their own accord, her gaze drifted to the couple off in the distance, she made a face. "Is this what friends do? Do they hang out like we do?"
"He teleports using some gold ring thingies. Some kinda fairy magic I think, but he won't teach me." At her second question, Kenta shrugged. "I think so. Feels right at least... Right?" He added the last part with a bit of unease at the face she made. Did he do something wrong? Was this not how this works?
"I guess, yeah," Shay was still staring at the couple. Finally, she looked away, again stoic. "Are you sure he can even teach you how to use fairy magic? You're not a fairy." To Shay, that seemed like the most logical thing in the world.
He was quiet for a few moments, stuck on feeling he did something wrong. He soon shook it off, however, to pay attention to her question. "Oh... Oh, um... That makes sense... But he keeps telling me that his necklace is why. I kinda thought he was making excuses. Laetus is kinda lazy." He explained as they began walking. "...You said home by ten... Right?" He asked, slipping his gameboy out again to check the time.
Shay tried to peek at the time shown on his Gameboy as she nodded. "Yeah. Is it time to start heading back?" Without thinking, she rose her free hand and messed with her new necklace, twirling the pendant between pinched fingers.
She searched for something to ask, something to say, or comment on. Shay had never been much good at small talk, then, she didn't have much practice to hone such a skill. Her grip tightened.
Kenta smiled seeing her with the necklace, blushing lightly at the fact she seemed to like it so much. He almost forgot what he was doing for a moment. "Oh..." He checked his game. "Its... 9:39. So... Probably." He slipped the game back into his sleeve, seeming disappointed the night had to end so soon. It had been... quite a day though. It was one of those days that felt like two had seamlessly flowed together.
