The young half dragon had been on the island a week, just long enough to move in and get enrolled. In truth a part of was nervous, nervous about school, nervous about meeting people, but her excitement overshadowed it.

So she found herself glading through the air above the school, watching the people below. In the narrow reality she got very few chances to fly, and of course only when far from humans. Now she didn't have to worry about that, so she freely flew, stopping above the sports field when she saw something interesting. Was that girl wearing armor?

She'd ride a funnel of wind down to the ground, her green eyes looking at the other girl curiously. "Guten tag....er....hello," she'd say with a smile. "I hope I'm not interrupting, but I couldn't help but notice the armor." She'd pause, "apologies, asking about your clothing but haven't even introduced myself, I am Arno....Arno Thorndrake," she'd say, giving a small bow. @PixelatedGlory

Seyyal stopped her light workout right as a random girl landed nearby with a rush of wind. A moment of instinct made her ready her stance for an attack but she quickly relaxed and gave her a curious glance.

"Hey. I'm Seyyal of the Vermilion Sands." She noticeably did not bow but she shrugged instead. "Yeah, I like to make sure I stay in fighting shape. Even if armor is rarer here."

"Vermilion Sands?" she'd ask curiously, tilting her head. "I've never heard of such a place, is it on Earth or another realm?" she'd brush some hair from her face, "I heard realm hoppers are common here but I've yet to meet any."

She'd glance over the armor. "It looks well made, my father has a set, and I've watched my uncle forge some," said uncle was one of the few family members who'd fully accepted them. "Is your armor enchanted?"

"I noticed that you don't carry any weapons?" she'd hum in thought. "Do you fight solely with your hands? Or summon weapons?"

"Thanks for the compliment. It's nothing super fancy since it's more for travel and adventuring than noble duels and showing off, but it does protect me some from magic," she smiled and answered the question in a mostly direct way, not especially wanting to divulge exactly what the enchantment was.

"I am from another world so that's why you don't recognize the name. But.. you sure seem to know a lot about me after only just meeting me?" She narrows her eyes slightly and looks intently at the half dragon for a few moments. "I guess maybe you are just good at guessing. Yes I can fight pretty well with my fists but I do use swords too."

With that she reached into a pouch at her belt and case it out with a flourish of her hand, the sand coalescing into a beautiful blade in her hand. And then making it disappear once more since they were still on school grounds.

"Know about you?" she'd chuckle, "I guessed you were from another realm because I'm told it's super common here." She'd shrug, "my family traveled a lot, gave me a good amount of knowledge of the world...Earth that is."

Her eyes would go wide as she shifted the sand briefly into a blade. "Tolle.....er......I mean amazing," she'd say with a chuckle. "I have never seen sand magic before," she'd say with a thoughtful hum.

Glancing around she'd hold out her hands, her rapier like sword briefly appearing in her hands to give her a quick look. "They told me enchanted weapons were a common sight, but it is still exciting to see it. Do you spar with people?"

Seyyal had confirmed there wasn't some kind of mental ability being used. It was just as they said- good guessing. So she relaxed somewhat and watched the other student summon their sword.

"I dont know if they even count as sand magic but thanks I actually found them in a sand dune believe it or not."

She chuckled- it was hard for most people back home to believe that one but it seemed like that was super tame compared to most stories here. "I do enjoy a good sparring session. Are you any good with that sword of yours?"

"In a sand dune?" she'd ask, tilting her head. "Actually in the dune? Or maybe in a building?" she'd traveled a good amount on Earth, but she'd never been to a realm where magic was common.

"My sword was originally my father's, he preferred his spear, so gave me the sword to me." It was an ancient Thorndrake weapon, so ironically it was likely used to kill quite a few dragons.

A look of excitement and a bit of a challenge appeared. "I'm quite good, both my parents trained me," she'd grin a bit, "would you be up for sparring? I....haven't had the chance to spar with many before, but I'd love to spar with you."

Seyyal nodded solemnly "yeah, just out there in the sand for me to find. Not quite as fancy as being handed down for... generations," she paused for a moment as something distracted her and then resumed. "But what can I say? i'm mostly self taught anyways so why not just swords out of nowhere."

The offer of sparring was pretty tempting. Heck, if she hadn't have already been warned about swordplay outside of where weapons were allowed she might have taken her stance right then and there. But she wasn't stupid. Not in the least.

"Sure. Lets head over to the powers gym and see if we can find an opening to go for it. Just swordfighting though, ok? Some people have some crazy abilities here on the island."

She'd chuckle. "Sounds like destiny meant for you to find it," it did sound incredibly lucky, finding such an enchanted item like that. "Maybe it was waiting for you," she'd say with a shrug. "I know some enchanted weapons can have a mind of its own."

The half dragon would smile excitedly. "Yes, just swords, though only other thing I can do is my wind magic really," she was relatively weak by magic standards. "Do they rooms just for sparring?" she'd ask, turning to face the school.

"I haven't had any power classes yet," she had good enough control to where she didn't require them yet. "Will we need to find a coach to be present?"

Seyyal wasn't sure she wanted to call it destiny, but it sure had been unexpected and convenient. To be honest though she hadn't really even felt the need to question it. The swords were there and she took them and now she wielded them with expertise.

"They're kind of made to be flexible for use. But they should be fine for sparring unless someone's already using the spaces. We should be ok though- it's not like we're doing anything too crazy."

She led the way back towards the buildings. It didnt take long to get there and sign out one of the rooms for a short training session. One of the staff members said they'd peek in yo make sure things were above board but otherwise they were old enough and claimed to have enough control not to hurt eachother.

For her part Seyyal checked the arrangement of her sand pouches and methodically double-checked the fasteners of her armor. Her usual pre-sparring ritual, minus the stretches. She'd already done that before their conversation started anyways.
