"I have a friend who is a scout, I was planning on asking for her help. I feel helpless now, but I'm sure everything will turn out well."
Cosette forced herself to say that, because she wanted to believe it. Cosette wasn't an optimist, not really. Rather she was a hopeful realist. Cosette had seen too much darkness and had had too much bad luck to truly be an optimist. But she still tried.
"You may not fear danger, but I fear for you."
Cosette said in a gentle voice, and gave Lebeda's hand a small squeeze.
"I'm sorry I cannot rely on your help, I would if this was even a little lighter of a burden. But...if you did me the honour of being my friend that would make me very happy."
Cosette said quietly, looking down briefly. She didn't know any other swan maidens on the island, they usually lived in their Nesting ground and sometimes visited the human world. So, Cosette was craving for the company of her kin, or someone similar.
