Turning off the rice cookers, Celeste then busied herself by taking the sushi rice out and dividing it up into bowls that she placed at each work station with a clean tea towel over each bowl to absorb the steam and allow the rice to cool down slowly. She then placed bottles of rice vinegar, sugar and salt along with sheets of seaweed, wasabi, soy sauce, pickled ginger, and the bamboo mats used for rolling.

When the students finally began to file in, Celeste would bring out the fish - among them salmon, tuna and shrimp - that they would be using along with cucumber, radish, avocado and a few other assorted vegetables that could be used in the sushi rolls themselves.

Cesare Mayakovsky sauntered into the classroom, clad in one of his customary three-piece black suits with a red silk shirt under his waistcoat, a black-and-red tie, and black leather cap-toe oxfords. Whoever ran this school could keep their ridiculous uniforms for themself, thank you very much.
It seemed he was the first arrive-scratch that, the second. The other occupant of the room was a petite woman, easily a foot shorter than himself, with very pale hair and bright green eyes. His eyes roamed her form without any care to hide what he was doing, and with a hunger that had nothing to do with bloodlust. She seemed to be older than him, but not by much.
Not a high schooler, then...a Teacher's Assistant, perhaps?

"Why, hello there! I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting - and I'm quite sure I would remember if we had. I'm Cesare, Cesare Mayakovsky. But you can call me...whatever you want. And as often as you please," he added smoothly.
He extended a hand and said "Are you the TA for this class? I wouldn't have thought that Home Economics would need one - not that I'm complaining, of course," he added with a smirk.

Glancing up from the list of ingredients she had been writing down for her next Home Economics class, Celeste stared at the person addressing her, slightly confused for a moment by who he actually was. Especially since he was not wearing the required uniform.

However, as he continued talking, Celeste raised an eyebrow, thoroughly amused now by the TA question, and by the fact that, if she was not mistaken, her new student seemed to be hitting on her.

"Mr. Mayakovsky," Celeste said, "How very nice of you to join us. The office informed me earlier that a new student would be starting today. I'm Ms. Forestier, your Home Ec teacher," she said hiding a very amused grin as she introduced herself to him.

Cesare's smirk split into a wolflike grin as he withdrew his hand. If relations between students and TAs were heavily frowned up, relations between students and teachers were downright forbidden. And there was never a surer way to bait Cesare Mayakovsky than to tell him he couldn't have something.
"Please, call me Cesare," he said, maintaining eye contact. "At least until we're on a pet name basis." Another wink, and then he headed over to a work station - taking care to choose the work station nearest to the lovely teacher of course. He removed his suit jacket and draped it over a chair, pushed the sleeves of his dress shirt halfway up his forearms, and made sure his tie was secure beneath his waistcoat.
"I'm going to enjoy this class, I can tell already," he said with real enthusiasm.
Naturally, his enthusiasm had nothing to do with the curriculum.

Why was Ava taking this class again? Who knows. It was in her schedule so suppose she was going to it. And Celeste was running it so how bad could it be? Ava had met the woman a couple of times since she had adopted Azure and was dating Roldan. Though Ava didn't want to even go near that.

Ava stepped into the class, right in the middle of some student, probably new, flirting with Celeste. Ava was too stunned to react at first, she just blinked, but eventually she snorted and started laughing, right about when the guy was heading to his station.
"Oh man, is Roldan is gonna laugh at this."
Ava said to herself and snickered, just as amused as Celeste, if not more. She was already feeling more up for this class and waved at Celeste.
"Hey Ms. Forestier. Or should I give you a pet name too? Beat this guy to the punch?"
Ava greeted her and ginned a bit, glancing at Cesare, and also went to her own station. Near the door but on the front as well, so she could witness this amusing display.

Celeste just shook her head when the new student continued flirting with her. She had figured he'd stop or be somewhat embarrassed when he found out she was his teacher, but obviously that was not the case. It only seemed to please him more. Celeste had a feeling it was going to be an interesting semester with Cesare in her class.

"Oh, you already have a pet name Mr. Mayakovsky. It just happens to be "student"," Celeste quipped matter-of-factly.

Hearing a familiar voice, Celeste turned slightly to see Roldan's younger cousin Ava as she slipped behind her cooking station situated not far from the front of the room.

"Miss. Drakenhardt, right on time," Celeste said smiling widely as she turned her attention to the girl, actually thankful for her sudden appearance.

"I hope you are up to some sushi making," she said trying to steer the conversation away from the earlier conversation about giving her a pet name.

Cesare's gaze shifted and he shrugged, as though weighing his options.
"On second thought, I'm beginning to like 'Mr. Mayakovsky.' Hearing the way you pronounce the Russian with your French accent is rather enchanting."
Before he could follow up on this - probably for the best, really - another student cut in (And who the hell is Roldan?); a short redhead with blue eyes, younger than him by the look of it. As she glanced over at him, he gave a wordless nod in greeting.
Opting for a tactical retreat, and yet rather bemused by the task set before them, he said "So, making sushi...Menial labor...Cool, cool, cool. This will be...interesting."

Oooh, the new guy was giving Ava the cold shoulder. That pissed Ava off a bit, but everything did, and small stuff like that was easier to ignore. And if the guy ignored Ava she would be able to spectate more easily. For once she wasn't all about getting mixed into the mess.
"I'm always on time, Ms. Forestier."
Which Celeste would know to be a huge lie, Ava was almost always late. Usually with dirt on her face or sticks in her hair. Not this time though, since there was a small smudge on her male uniform pants. Ava didn't wear the female uniform, it was way too impactical for jumping and running and stuff.

The new guy didn't seem all that used to the thought of "menial labour", as he put it, and Ava smirked a bit and nodded a bit.
"Yup, smushing seaweed and rice and raw fish together does sound like fun. Cool, even."
Ava chuckled and looked over the ingredients, that was basically what sushi was, right? Raw fish and rice wrapped together. Ava had never really eaten sushi, she wouldn't know.

"He thought making sushi was menial labour?" Celeste thought to herself as she eyed Cesare in quiet disbelief. He was very obviously one of those students she thought with a tiny internal sigh. A rich and entitled kid, who was extremely out of touch with the real world. If her suspicions were right, it was going to be a very long class.

Celeste then moved to the front of the room and picked up a marker so she could write on the whiteboard.

"At one time, sushi was actually a way to preserve fish in fermented rice, so in a way you are right, Miss Drakenhardt. It probably was all mushed together back then," Celeste explained in a friendly tone, killing time as she toyed with the marker in her hands as they waited for other students to arrive.

Peregrine entered the classroom, barely missing the interaction that had just occurred. After he spotted some students already behind stations, a worried look appeared on his face for a moment. He turned to look at Celeste. "I apologise if I've arrived late, Miss Forestier." Peregrine spoke in a respectful, polite and familiar tone towards the teacher. It almost seemed surprising due to his appearance. Black, messy hair, and although he wore a uniform, you couldn't exactly use it as the best example for a uniform.

Peregrine had taken quite a few Home Economic classes by now, hence why he spoke with some familiarity towards Celeste. It wasn't like he knew her that well, nor did she know him that well, but it could take a while for Peregrine to really warm up to people and he didn't exactly dislike Celeste either.

He liked practical classes such as this. The ones that truly taught him skills that he could use in life. Due to the place he was born and raised in, he greatly appreciated learning practical skills that could help him. But, he also loved academic subjects. Peregrine just loved learning in general.
As a student, Peregrine was a bit older than the pair who had arrived before him, being aged 20. However, he was in remedial due to his lack of education up to this point. Although he had difficulties reading, he could now read basically. By teachers and students he shared lessons with, he can be recognised as a very keen learner who wholeheartedly loved the subjects he attended.
