Taking Leo's advice, James was running towards the courtyard, Jessie not too far behind. Just then, he heard a noise... another footstep. Not Jessie's: the noise was coming from in front of them. Not James': he stopped moving. James signalled Jessie to stop, and she followed his instruction. What was that noise? Or rather... who was making that noise. Then more footsteps could be heard, this time, from Jessie's direction. James quickly turned around to signal Jessie to stay quiet, but she was sitting down on the floor, leaning against the wall with her arms around her knees. It couldn't be her. The footsteps became louder and more rapid, as if from each direction, there was a multiple number of people... or was it people? Neither could tell. Jessie signalled James to come over, and James followed her instruction. She quietly whispered to James "I'm Jessica Morgan, but call me Jessie. I really should have introduced myself earlier."
"Now's not the time to chat, Jessie, but thanks for telling. I think we're surrounded," James quickly replied.
"Sorry." Jessie whispered. "I was just trying to be friendly." It seems as if Jessie's mind has cleared and she has calmed down. She's only nervous now... but not for long.
The footsteps became louder and louder. "We'd better hide." James whispered, and he jumped up to the ceiling, grabbing onto a nearby vent, and positioned himself as high as possible. Jessie meanwhile only had to wish herself invisible, and she vanished like the light from a lightbulb.
"Nice power." James thought to himself.
The source of the noise could finally be seen, but both of the students knew they didn't want to see them. They were strange creatures none could describe due to the darkness of the corridor. "Help." Both Jessie and James whimpered. There was no escape. They wanted to scream it out, but that would only catch the creatures' attention. They wanted to keep quiet, but then they wouldn't be able to summon help that way, and they have no other means of communication. Then, James realised that he has his guns and swords with him. But he didn't want to kill them yet: that would only grab the attention of others like them. Jessie couldn't just walk past them: her footsteps would make noise and there were too many of these creatures to sneak by, even though she was invisible. All they could do was hope that someone will come and help them.
((OoC: Ahh, Team Rocket. Pokemon. I have just realised that. Oh well.))
