The diner was quiet, even more so than usual, they had the snow to thank for that. With the hindering weather no one really had the time to go out and get food at a diner, let alone a run down old one. Shiro found this annoying, she was already risking getting in trouble for having the job, she at least wanted to get tips while doing it.

So the cat shifter flew in to the dinner on her staff, landing in front of the doors and making her staff vanish. She'd step in, humming a little, her boss calling out a greeting to her. She'd slip off her long coat, revealing her uniform.

Stepping up to the counter she'd turn to see if there was any customer she needed to tend to. Then a familiar face walked in, with a small eep she'd duck behind the counter. It was a teacher, someone who could get her fired and in trouble. Shiro was content to hide but she saw her boss sending a glare her way.

Sighing she'd stand and give her a small, awkward and embarrassed smile. "Uh....h-hello ma'am," she'd clear her throat, "what can I do for you?" Not her usual greeting, it was probably a little crimgey, but her nerves were flaring up a bit.

Shaking the snow off her hood as she removed her woolen winter gloves, Celeste looked around the almost empty diner and decided to take a seat at one of the booths. She had been held up at school, an impromptu staff meeting of sorts and by the time the meeting was over, she noticed that it was past dinner time and she was starving.

Having called home earlier to let them know she'd be late, Celeste decided to stop into the diner that was on her way home and have something to eat.

Glancing at the menu when the waitress appeared to take her order, still somewhat undecided, Celeste took a second before replying, "Hello, yes, I think I'll have a cheeseburger with onion rings instead of fries and ..." here she finally looked over at her waitress and saw, to her surprise, that it was a student from the academy.

"... and a cup of coffee, black, please. " she finished, eyeing the girl a bit strangely, but still being friendly. It was a bit surprising to see a student working at the diner, but, not completely unusual either. Although, for the moment, Celeste still hadn't quite clued in that the girl, Shiro, was not quite old enough to be working a late shift.

"Y-yes ma'am," she'd say, writing down the order and passingit on to someone in the back. "We'll get that right out to you," she'd clear her throat nervously. She'd usually go to tend to the other customers but there wasn't any at three moment, the snow had caused business to slow significantly.

She'd clear her throat again, she usually talked with the customers, being friendly and bright was one of the reasons she was hired. "H-how are you Ms. Forestier?" she'd ask, trying to hide that she was feeling quite nervous about serving a teacher.

"Staying warm?" usually she knew exactly what to say, but at the moment she was slightly blanking on what conversation starter should should use.

Unraveling her scarf, which she placed beside her along with her gloves and coat, Celeste smiled at Shiro, taking note of the fact she was obviously seemed somewhat uncomfortable. And guessing that it probably had to do with the idea of serving a teacher from the academy.

"I am well," Celeste remarked her tone friendly as she tried to remember the name of the student before her. "Although this snow is almost too much," she confessed. "People are becoming quite ... irritable," she said with a slight frown as she thought about all the bickering and heated words she often heard in the halls lately. People were not used to being cooped up for this long.

Then, with a smile, not wanting to dwell on the snow too much, Celeste shifted a bit in her seat. "It's very quiet this evening. Has it been like this for very long?" she inquired politely, the student's name finally coming to her. The girl was Shiro Yoshida, Celeste had been told about her when she started along with other students who were deemed "somewhat problematic".

Grabbing a pot of coffee she'd pour Celeste a cup of it, black like she'd request. "I know what you mean, I can fly with my new staff so getting around isn't to big of a problem," she'd smile a bit, "my neighbors in the dorms are getting grumpy though, arguments are happening more often." She'd snort, "one of them threw me into the snow the other day while I was in cat form."

"More or less," she'd say, glancing around at the mostly empty diner, "as good as the food here is people don't seem willing to walk through the snow to get it." She'd chuckle, "few teleporters and fliers have come through for some coffee, that's about it tonight."

She'd tilt her head, "what about you?" she'd ask curiously, "what brings you out here?" She was calming now, Celeste was nice which helped calm her nerves and get back to her talkative self.

Celeste sat back a little in her seat and let Shiro serve her the coffee that she had ordered. "That was you?" Celeste inquired when she mentioned the cat being tossed in a snowbank episode. She had heard one of the teachers mention the incident along with some other episodes of pettiness, fights, and pranks that were obviously related to boredom and just generally being cooped up because of the weather. The students needed an outlet for their pent up energies.

"A staff meeting of sorts," she said with a smile at Shiro's question. "It went on for way longer than intended," she explained as she took a sip of her coffee glad for the warm drink. "So, I figured I'd grab something to eat on the way home."

"Have you tried the pie here yet?" Celeste asked Shiro suddenly, remembering the place was famous for its pie and desserts."I hear it's quite good. A student was telling me about it the other day actually." Celeste told her remembering the conversation she had had with a friend of Shales's.

"Mhm," she'd chuckle, "shoulda seen me having to dig myself out, a shivering white cat crawling out of the snow." It hadn't been pleasant, but she was able to laugh at it a little. "Everyone's a bit on edge, easily snapping," she was handling it all pretty well, she knew her siblings were hating the snow.

"Oh a staff meeting?" she'd ask, "anything interesting?" She doubted she'd be told everything that was discussed in the meeting, but she enjoyed chatting with her customers.

"The pies are good," she'd say, flashing a small grin, "we have some ready if you'd like a piece." She'd giggle, "a bit of dessert before dinner?" The diner might be old and slightly run down, but they had good good, especially good pie.

"Wow, that must not have been nice at all," Celeste said, knowing cats usually didn't water of any sort. And the idea of being tossed into a snowbank, whether in a human or animal form, made Celeste shiver a bit at the idea of cold snow on her body.

"The staff meeting wasn't anything too exciting, to be honest," Celeste said with a shrug, "We were just addressing a few events that are coming up, and what to do if the snow doesn't stop by then," she told Shiro truthfully. It was not a huge secret that the snow was causing problems with special events and outdoor activities.

"I'd love a piece of pie actually," Celeste said, loving the idea of dessert before dinner, and thinking she could always take the burger home or drop it off at the police station for Roldan if she didn't feel like eating it herself. "What type is there? Cause if there is cherry or apple, I'd take either," she said.

She'd chuckle, "I was a bit of a mess, luckily I didn't get sick or anything." She'd glance at the snow outside, "my siblings haven't been handling the snow as well, my sister hates it especially." She'd brush a bit of hair from her face, trying it back behind her, "her and my brother are more cat-like than me though."

"Events?" she'd ask curiously, "well there's the station, can always do things up there, no snow in space." She'd been up there once or twice, it was an interesting place, all the aliens and exotic tech.

Shiro would flash a grin, "I'll be right back," she'd vanish into the kitchen, returning with a slice of cherry pie for her. "We have one freshly baked often, it's something that gets ordered a lot," she'd say setting the pie down for her.

"Oh, excuse me for just a second." She'd step away, checking on the few other customers they had, filling the coffee of one before returning to Celeste. "So uh....," she'd rub hee arm nervously a little, "you're a witch right?"

Celeste thanked Shiro when she bought her a fresh piece of cherry pie which was quite truthfully, one of her favorites, more than apple even and nodded in understanding when the young woman excused herself to attend other customers.

Breaking off a piece of crust with some filling on it, Celeste tried the pie and raised an eyebrow appreciatively. It was very delicious, not too overly sweet with just the right amount of tartness to it.

"Yes, I am," Celeste answered agreeably when Shiro returned and asked if she was a witch. "Born and grew up as a witch, my father is a necromancer druid, " she added with a smile, proud of Rafael's ability and status with magic circles.

"Why do you ask?" she said to Shiro very curiously.
