Vatar placed a kiss on his fiance's forehead as he stepped out the front door and into the bright yellow world that was gracing Manta Carlos today. Well, grace was a strong word really. He had no true love for days like these unless he was inside a nice air-conditioned area. Having spent over a year now working in a hot box of a store and smithy his body had learned to get over it and so he could carry a smile as he walked down the streets of Manta Carlos.

It had taken quite some maneuvering to get his wife to allow him to have lunch by himself but after a few date night promises she was more than okay with letting the two siblings spend some quality family time. That was his mission for today, bonding. Considering they had spent hundreds of years together this seemed like something that shouldn't be required but alas their lives had changed so much in their time here he believed it warranted a catching up of sorts. He had picked out a rather casual burger place by the park that he frequented after work. The food was a decent price and he wasn't one for extravagance anyway.

Having no wheels to call his own he had a pleasant walk to the place and even saw a few friends along the way. School would be starting back soon so those underclassman he had said goodbye to were in the city getting ready. It was a weird feeling being free of classes but he was more than happy to get his life started and join the Police academy. Walking into the burger place called "Sweet Taste" he greeted the waiter and had a booth by the window picked out where he usually ate. The style of the place was quite high class despite the price and clientele. Mostly because the owner's husband was a fashion freak and loved to pick out things for the place. Regardless everyone could be found wearing jeans, boots, a fedora, and other styles of clothing that one may not pair for the atmosphere. He was in usual black jeans and a black tank top with orange lines creating a hex pattern.

Waiting for his sister he orders some water and leaned back in the chair to play a phone game

"I should probably get the bacon burger today..." He mulled over aloud.

Malara was tired. It had been a rough year so far, and frankly she felt like she was being pulled in a hundred different directions. And there was always the anger at he back of her mind about Pandora. But today, she promised herself, she wouldn't focus on that. Today, she was having lunch with her brother. A rare thing, given how busy they both were with their own lives.

She stepped into the place, kind of surprised at how high class it was. But still casual. Huh. She was in a low cut dress with her hair done in a loose braid. She scanned the room and saw Vatar, giving him a wave and sliding into her seat across from him.

She grinned, showing off her decidedly sharper than normal teeth and leaned forward on the table. "Hey, baby brother. It's so nice of you to invite me out to lunch. Almost like we're real people."

Placing his phone down Vatar returned the wave and sat more attentively then he had before. Phones at the dinner table were something he stressed a lot so it would be wrong for him to do it here, even for lunch. "Yes, it's strange what we can accomplish when things settle down." Settle down was more a term for her than him. He had cherished his newfound normalcy for years now. It had granted him a chance to see the universes of many colors and educate himself on the culture of a new world.

As for his sister, it was a rollercoaster of emotion and troubles. He blamed it on her domains, her level of attachment to people made it easy to be hurt. Of course, he would never tell her this now. She had a family that cared for her and a child that despite reminding him of his sisters younger days was slowly growing into her own. It was more than a pleasure for him to see her waters had calmed a bit.

"How are Dalia and Chloe? The last time I saw the girl she seemed upset with me." His eyes drifted to a waitress who brought over menus and a glass of water for Malara. He opened his up but was familiar enough with the menu he already knew what he wanted. Instead, he just pretended to think it over as to not put any rush on Malara.

Malara didn't really talk while she took her sip of her water. She gave Vatar a brief hum in response to his comment about things settling down, not really wanting to have that argument right now. "Dalia, Chloe and Amber are all fine. Dalia won a fight against some jackass Eldritch guy. In the arena; we celebrated her first kill. We're actually planning a trip to Diutune. They both want to see the Daughters of Flame firsthand, and we all think the family could use a vacation. Off world is easiest. No human charm nonsense.

Mal let her gaze fall over the menu. She really didn't care what she ate right now. It was all the same, really. She settled on some burger that came with an egg on it, asking the meat to be cooked medium rare and pointedly looking at the waitress when she got a brief look of incredulity. She waited for the waitress to walk away, snapping her teeth at her gently, before addressing Vatar again.
"Upset with you? What the fuck did you supposedly do?"

Scanning over the burger Malara had over he stuck to his original plan and ordered hi Bacon Burger. He had come here enough that the waitress didn't even care to ask how he wanted his burger.

As the waitress removed the menus Vatar gave a dismissive wave while finishing the rest of his water. " It was at the Family Fair thing the island held while you were away. I feel the nature of it all was bothering her. Her demeanor was more coarse than usual when it comes to me."

His job as Uncle to the once spiderling had always been a minor one. He viewed her as family but never truly made the effort to spend time with her, something he got enough flak for at home so he would avoid that now. It was times like that when he was thankful that Chloe and Amber were still around. While they didn't carry the Tor name they were by all means integral to keeping that half of the family together and he viewed them as extended if anything else.

"None the less. It's probably best for me to just ask her. I won't pretend to understand children. So I request that you don't bring it up with her." tracing around a problem would probably make things worse so he'd rather avoid that all together.

Malara picked at her fingernail. She'd forgotten how unbearably formal her brother could be. Why was he like this? And something about famoly... of course it was. "Probably Pandora," Mal said, her voice dripping with fire and venom at the mention of the name. The very tips of her hair flickered and wavered into flame, but she kept her head. Mal refused, above all else, to cry. Not in public and certainly not in front of Vatar. Fuck that.

"I mean, I'm not going to lie to her if she asks me. You know I hate liars, Vatar." Or at least she hoped that he did. She said it enough. But time and time again lately, she'd been shocked by the audacity and ignorance displayed by people she loved and respected. Her eyes flicked up to her brother, her smile already gone. This was going to be a fun lunch, she could already tell.

"So what about you? How's your family, Vatar?"

He nodded as she spoke. Being Dalia's mom he only expected so much leeway before her told her anyway. Now wasn't the time for argument and back and forth. He really had had enough of that for his life and would rather just try and be cordial when it came to his disagreements....within reason of course. He would always reserve the right to hurt someone who threatened something he cared for.

Sipping his water, he gave a dismissive wave to Malara's question. " It's the same old same old. I've planned to have the wedding after I graduate from the Police Academy. So I'll keep you in the loop for all that, or Illiya will I'm sure...Oh, and of course she and the brat told me to tell you hi. She wanted to come for a bit but she has a shift she's covering today."

He still didn't like her job, but as mentioned to him several times it was better for all of them to be busy rather than have her stay at home watching Tv all day or something of that nature. The idea of all those perverts coming to visually download his wife still angered him. Though this time he promised not to punch anyone.

OOC: sorry for the delay, school starting, and family stuff will slow me down a bit.
