Jen stood up to her knees in the ocean water. It was searing hot outside, so the water felt good. She reached down to pick something up, then put it in a large pouch at her waist. She walked, picked up a shell, and put it in the bag. She repeated this untill the pouch was full. She waded out of the water and sat down on the shore, spreading the shells she had collected out onto the sand.

At the same time, a young adult male wandered off out of the academy and onto a vast area of sand where he saw wide ocean spreading out to who-knows-where. A light breeze hit him in the face, blowing his long light brown hair on his head. On this hot summer day, he wore a white tank top and black jean shorts and carried a lightweight drawstring backpack. He opted to go for a little swim. In the backpack he carried his black basketball he normally uses as swimming trunks. He hid behind a bush, changed into those shorts and pulled off the tank top, unveiling his athletic-like upper body and his black feathered wing tattoo on his back. He slowly approaced the shore and tested the water temperature with his toes. On this hot summer day, the water was fine for him. He proceeded into the water until the surface was chest high. He dipped his head in. After a few seconds he emerged with heavy drops of water crawling down his face. His hair looking like discolored seaweed, he stood there.

While he was in there he saw girl, not much younger than him at the shore. While he looked at her briefly, he noticed her beauty. After a quick glance at the girl, he swam. On the surface of the water he stroked to advance himself deeper into the ocean, deep enough so that his feet could no longer feel the ocean floor and there he stood on his own, doing what he enjoyed doing best.

Jen looked up. There, she saw a boy swimming. She blinked and waved, looking back down at her shells. She picked up a few and poked holes into them. Out of the pouch she took a a large peice of blue fabric. She started sowing them onto it. She looked up at the boy and started watching him. He didn't look to much older than her. Her eye caught something on his back, even though the distance was large.
Is that a... a tattoo? She asked herself.

She stopped and flicked a peice of hair of her face before getting up and walking towards the water, rolling her jeans up as she went. She waded in and repeated what she was doing before, except this time, she was just doing it with her hand.

In the ocean he stood continuing to stroke, pushing himself further out into the distance. He stopped for a moment to enjoy the view of the horizon. He admired it indeed, then turned about face to push himself closer to shore. When he drew himself closer to the shore, he got a closer glimpse of the girl watching him. He noticed the pouch and fabric in her hands but opted not to question about it. He decided it was time for a small break now, so he exited from the ocean and onto the shore, walking past the girl and shaking off some of the water from his hair.

Jen watched him from the water, leaning down to pick up another shell. Instead, something large pinched her finger and held on. When she lifted her hand up, a large crab was hanging onto it, determined to wrestle her took the death. She shook her hand a bit, but it tightened. She winced and started to pry the claw loose.
I bet he thinks I'm an idiot now... She thought as she tossed the crab back into the water. It scuttled off. She rubbed her finger and grabbed the shell she had tried to pick up.

The boy had paid no particular mind to this girl until he heard a loud yelp of pain which came from her. From the shell she tried to pick a crab emerged and held onto her hand in a vice. It was then that he finally turned his full attention to the girl and simply said nothing as he raised an eyebrow as he watched her fight off the hard-shelled creature. He shook his head after that and broke the silence between them. "Gotta be careful with those things." he said in a dark tone of voice.

Jen turned to face him and blinked. "They hurt..." she said softly, rubbing her finger and putting the shells down. She plopped down and looked over the shells, seperating them by shape and color. She kept glancing at him. She looked up finally and tried to start a conversation. "So, is that a tattoo on your back?"

The boy glanced back at her, seeing the many shells she picked up, in assorted shapes and colors. He shook his head again, this time to get some more water out of his hair to air dry it quicker. He too plopped himself on the sand to air dry his body. She said something about a tattoo. Oh, the one on his back, right. He turned his body around to show it to her then answered her. "This, yeah....got that over a year ago. It suits me."

Jen looked at it carefully. "Why does it suit you?" She asked, trying to think of why itwould suit him. Did he have wings, or was it a bad guess?

((Sooooooooooooooo sorry, I'm very braindead... X.X))

[It's alright. We all have our off days.....]

The girl had asked the boy why the tattoo had suited him. Well, he was just about to show her why. Now standing up straight, the boy turned around with his back facing her. Suddenly, a light began to flash from the tattoo and just like that, two elegant black feathered wings had formed. It was one of his..."gifts"..."That's why." he said.

[Eh....I'm one to talk....]
