"Ohhh..." Jen nodded, and a stream of water flew from the ocean to her hand. It started swirling around her wrist until she stopped and let it sink into the sand. "Yours is cooler than mine." She said, fiddling with a shell in her hand.
With the wings spread out as far as they can, the boy turned around to see the girl. She was somehow manipulating the water from the ocean. He watched her play around with it and with the shell in her hand. She seemed to be collecting them, as a hobby. He sat back down in the sand and ran his finger through it. "So, uhh.....you collect those...?" he asked referring to the shells.
Jen smiled and shook her head. "No, I sometimes keep the pretty ones and then loose them," she blushed, "But I'm making something out of them." She held up the peice of cloth. She shells had been sown on in the shape of a heart. Sheblushed and put it down. "Just for decoration."
The boy raised an eyebrow at her answer and scratched the back of his head lightly. "Oh." He noticed her blushing. Why was she blushing? At that moment the boy felt that he was probably making her feel a little uncomfortable. He often made alot of people feel uncomfortable. He glanced her face and saw it's lightly shaded pink. "Are you feeling okay?"
Jen recently relized how warm her face was. Oh, geez, not again... She thought, shaking her head. "No, I feel fine. It's jsut a bit hot." She shrugged. "I don't like weather this hot, and I wasn't planning on staying out here this long, so I'm not surprised if my face is red..."
The boy just sat there and listened to the girl's false explanation of being red in the face. He played along with it, for he didn't feel that it was important to worry about. He began to sweat a little from the hot sun. He stood up from the sand and stretched his arms and wings out. She said was hot, so he knew a nice way to help cool her off. He started flapping his wings slowly toward her to let off a cooling breeze.
Jen sighed as the breeze hit her and smiled softly. "Thank you." She said, rolling up her fabric and putting and her shells back into the pouch. "I'm heading back to the academy for something cold. Wanna come?"
Just as she was satisfied with the cool breeze, the boy ceased his movements with the wings. She offered him some company back to the school for a cold drink he supposed. He nodded then answered. "Sure. I could carry you along as I fly, or we can walk..."
Jen's thughts instantly snapped to her lover. "I'll walk." She said. "It's not that far." She said, pointing to a not-that-far tower in the distance. She stood up and brushed the sand off her and out of her hair.
Cade nodded in agreement as the girl answered that she preferred to walk. He didn't mind this; he would rather walk too. Besides, he wasn't used to his wings just yet. "That's fine. My wings are a little tired anyway." Just as he said this, the black feathered wings had dissipated to rest. He reached into his backpack for his clothes and quickly slipped them on. He began to walk ahead, but stopped after taking several steps to wait.
