Summer 2019 Rumor Mill

Every place has rumors, and Manta Carlos is no different. This thread exists to help people get a feel for what kind of gossip their characters would be hearing. If something's going on in-character, and you think other characters would know about it, be sure to post here and let others know!

Rumor: A Starlight Academy student with bug-like features was sent to the nurse's office with mild injuries relating to insect repellent being sprayed at them. The perpetrator isn't well known, but general whispers are that it's a newer student and a plant kid. No charges have been filed as of yet.

Who's Hearing It?: Students and faculty at Starlight Academy are hearing it for sure. From there, how it'll spread depends on who tells whom.

Rumor: Jazz Audron, known timid teddy bear and professional game streamer, has finally snapped. There are multiple reports of her going full on toxic gamer on people around Starlight's campus for small slights (like bumping into her). Nothing illegal or threatening, but she's definitely not winning any friends with her attitude.

Who's Hearing It?: Definitely students around campus, especially those with close ties to Jazz herself. People in the community Center have heard this as well. It's getting around fast.

Rumor: Tanzi Price has been acting odd around work. Calling out sick and them showing up anyway. Like every single day, in fact. There's also been reports of the news station's trash being gone through repeatedly, but that's probably unrelated.
Who's Hearing It?: Mostly the Price family and anyone close to them. Also anyone who works in news or radio.

Rumor: Alex Drakenhardt, the current head of the well known Drakenhardt family, has been seen around town flaunting his wealth. He has been spotted trading in gold (presumably from his horde) and using the money to wheel and deal around brothels and clubs and the like.
Who's Hearing It?: Basically everyone. Alex is a well known, long standing member of the community. Most would recognize him to some degree or another.

Rumor: Evie Everson, local gremlin and all around trouble maker, has crossed a line. Several installations around the school, including the FOUNTAIN on the courtyard, have been seriously damaged this weekend. Security camera footage clearly shows a student with short white hair seemingly reversing the gravity of several of these objects and then running away, only for them objects to come crashing down minutes later when the effect ends.
Who's Hearing It?: Who isn't hearing about this? The police are already on their way.

Rumor: There's nothing concrete, but it's been going around that some shady figures have been seen going in and out of a property owned by the Scout Helmut Forster. The man himself has even been seen dealing with a few of these individuals, letting them in and even joining them for whatever they happen to be doing.
Who's Hearing It?: This one isn't a big rumor, but the Scouts are definitely aware and who knows who else is snooping around at this point.

Rumor: Alma Malivani, well known member of the Starlight Academy student council and outspoken activist, has attacked and critically injured another person. At a planned Citizens Against Evil protest that Miss Malivani was helping counter-protest, a vocal member of the predominantly human CAE reportedly called out some hateful remarks at the young demon. She lost her cool and attacked the man, going directly for the throat with her teeth. While the man is in stable condition due to emergency care given by a mage present, Miss Malivani is currently in police custody awaiting further investigation.
Who's Hearing It?: This one is spreading like wildfire, with even a video going around social media of the attack faster than it can be taken down.
