Flipping on the lights to the classroom the student council used for its meeting, Liliana, with a large box in hand, waited patiently as all the fluorescents lit themselves up, one by one, to illuminate the unused classroom. Then she moved around the room to a desk in the middle of the room and set things up for the meeting. Removing some food and refreshments she had picked up from the cafeteria, she began to place everything on the one desk while on another she put out some napkins and cups for people to use.

Glancing around the room thoughtfully, Liliana decided to move the desks out of the way and place chairs in a circle, all the while thinking about the reason they were gathering together today. The idea that there was a student (or group of students) pranking in a harmful way non-humans bothered Liliana enormously.

She had lived most of her life on the island, and knew there were, at times, disagreements or suspicions toward certain groups, but they didn't tend to be more than squabbles or vociferous displays of disapproval. Rarely were there outright pranks, attacks (?), like the one at the school the previous week.

Jude had some very strong opinions on the subject. Very, very strong. And arriving to the council meeting on Friday morning, he was ready to go. He had his resources. He had his references. And despite all that... he'd arrived nearly empty handed. He had his bag, but it was looking fairly empty, and he nodded to Liliana as he arrived, pulling a water bottle out and setting it down beside one of the chairs.

"You think everyone's going to make it?"

Placing the last chair in the semi-circle, Liliana leant forward on it as Jude entered the classroom. "Hey there," she said in greeting as she watched him as he put his bag down, glad to see that Jude had been able to make it.

"Everybody confirmed, now whether they show up or not is another thing entirely," Liliana said with a tiny shrug, "I hope everyone comes though. This thing is pretty concerning if you want my honest opinion," she said as she walked over and grabbed something to drink.

"There are some snacks and a few drinks if you'd like.," Liliana explained as she gestured to the food and stuff.

Elisa wasn't missing this meeting if she tried. In her mind, knowing that a prank could have ended badly was something she worried about. Her friend Tomo loved pranks, yet would never agree to this kind of prank.

Walking in, she had her notes on what she heard from students, she also had a copy of the school rules in her bag, but she didn't think it was necessary.

"I'm here," she said, moving to take a seat, breathing out loudly. She had rushed from her class to her dorm to grab her stuff first, so she had to take a moment to catch her breath first.

Better now, she stood up. "So what actually ended up happening to the person who pulled the prank?"

"It's a big issue," Jude said as he headed over to grab a snack from the food table, returning to the ring to grab a seat. He was happy to spot Elisa arriving, if only because that meant they'd have at least a few people.

"We're waiting to hear," Jude answered their question. "Sentencing is today, but we probably won't find out until the weekend. He maintains his... well, not innocence, but ignorance. That he didn't know it was holy water."

Which was completely nonsensical, and absolutely everyone but him seemed to know it.

"It doesn't particularly change things, I don't think. If he can't provide an explanation for things, that means the possibility of it being a hate crime remains."

Yasmin slithered into the room with a nervous look in her eyes and anger in how she clutched the notebook and pen in her hand. This was ridiculous. This entire thing was ridiculous. There shouldn't have been a meeting in the first place because that thinly veiled hate crime shouldn't have been a thing. That "prank" was a great example of stuff Yasmin openly campaigned against.

"I hope I didn't miss anything," she said with a tense expression as she coiled herself on a cushion laid out to accommodate her body. "I brought notes on what the public knows, and I'm ready to take notes on our conversation."

"It wasn't a prank," Alma said as she followed close behind the other student council members. She was livid and it showed in her whole body language. Dilated goat pupils, tail whipping around like an agitated cat. Even her wings seemed to twitch and flex angrily as she walked, carrying a box of her own supplies and snack contributions for the meeting. She started setting up her laptop, ready to both record the meeting and take her own notes and commentary so that she could come back to it later. Nodding to everyone, she sat down. "Sorry I'm late. We can get started."

"We haven't really started," Jude reassured Yasmin. "We were mostly just waiting for people to arrive."

And, like magic, there was Alma, looking agitated as all hell. Jude felt like the only person who wasn't bringing something to make notes on, but then he didn't really need to. He had a perfect memory, and could reference it as needed later. So he kept his hands mostly free, outside of the occasional snack.

"Before we get started, I did want to just say that while I haven't swapped over yet on the school's records--probably won't until next quarter starts--I'm going by Angelo now, and I'd love if everyone could go with that. I don't mind people calling me Jude from time to time though."

Probably better to get that out of the way, and with his piece said, he sat down, turning to the president to guide the meeting.

Placing a few things down, Liliana nodded in greeting as people arrived, smiling in understanding when Alma came in looking like she could clobber someone. Glancing at Elisa and Yasmin, she spoke.

"The school, for now, has deemed it as a prank until the police have actually laid formal charges. That said, I don't think too many people see it as such. I certainly don't, and I get the feeling everyone here doesn't either," she said as she turned on her phone to record the meeting.

"I talked with Angelo yesterday," she said nodding at Jude, "and both of us believe that it might help if we discussed it here among us and see if we can help raise some awareness, calm fears or smooth ruffled feathers," she stated evenly.

"I know Chloe Black, of the Demonic student council, is feeling rather unnerved at the moment, and with good reason, and I was hoping we could help her out somehow." Liliana added as she took a seat and encouraged others to say what they thought about the matter.
