Soup was supposed to be good for the sick. Sore throat was a common symptom, so something easy to swallow would be best. Just a broth, perhaps. Nothing too big. Nothing tough enough that it had to be chewed, because lots of people were coughing. Nothing that smelled too strongly for the people with headaches. Just a simple chicken broth would do. With some citrus and ginger for the sore throats. It wouldn't be a hearty meal, that was for sure.
