Shuji was not expecting this at all. He started and shuffled his feet, his own face flushing bright red at the abrupt request. It was happening again, wasn't it? Shuji hadn't been on many dates before. He'd been asked plenty of times, but usually when he would call to confirm the date, he would get verbally abused and then the person wouldn't ever return his messages.

But looking at Felix, he couldn't help but feel his own stomach start to pull. It would make Felix very happy for them to go on a date? Shuji liked seeing people happy. And despite Felix saying the opposite, he thought the officer was a really great person.

Scratching the back of his head, he gave a really awkward look somewhere between a grin and a grimace and stumbled over his words a bit more. "Ah... F-Felix... this is unexpected. I mean, I don't know why you would want to go on a date with someone like me. But I'd be more than happy to go out with you. You're such a kind person, and you have a really big heart. I can tell."

Shuffling his feet a bit more, he added, "When would you want to... ah... go? And don't worry about money. I can pay, I'm really good at budgeting."
Not to mention that he lived alone and didn't even have a television, so his bills were really small anyway.

A kind person with a really big heart. Ha. Felix's insides was pollution, that was why Matangi chose him, but... He couldn't help but smile a little, scrubbing his cheek and humming. He knew it wasn't the real truth, but maybe that was what he needed, someone to think of him like that. Felix smiled softly, then broke into a grin. "Thank you, Shuji. That's all I could ask for."

He wrote his number down on a notepad, ripped it off and offered it to Shuji. "Maybe dinner at Tomorrow? And, ah, Shuji, y-you don't have to offer that. We can go Dutch. Cops get paid really well here! How does... Saturday at six sound?"

Felix stepped forward, and in a moment of braveness (or, perhaps, stupidity), bent over to kiss Shuji's cheek. He smiled sheepishly and covered his mouth. "Oh dear. Sorry if that's, ah, forward."

Shuji's face went from slightly red to full on fire engine when Felix kissed him on the cheek. Holding the number and standing there like an idiot, he didn't know how to respond. It was nearly a full minute before he flailed out of his stupor.
"Oh no no no. It's fine Felix-san. I just, it was unexpected. But, uh... Saturday, at six. That sounds great. I'll call you later to figure out where we'll meet up at? I hear a place called Russo's is very good, but I'm not really familiar with the sit-in dining establishments yet."

Rubbing the back of his neck, Shuji thought about if he had seen any payphones around, or if he could use the one in the manager's office at his apartment complex. He really needed to get a phone of his own soon.

"T-thank you again for all the help, Felix-san. I really appreciate it, and I'm looking forward to our... date." He glanced around before uttering the last word, knowing that there could be trouble for Felix if they were caught fraternizing while the detective was working.

Felix's smile was a bit strained at the mention of Russo's. Oh, yeah, that was perfect if it weren't for the fact Felix almost broke a waiter's arm there once. They would probably still remember his face. Yikes. That wasn't going to set the mood at all. "Hmm, how about something more daring? I heard the fusion restaurant at the Station is pretty good. Certainly fitting for new experiences and all." He chuckled lightly.

Felix nodded to him. "I'll see you Saturday then, Shuji," he told him, wiggling his fingers in a wave, before heading back to the building.

Saturday at six. Seems perfect. What could possibly go wrong?
